Season’s greetings Members, Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Holidays with your family and friends. We had a great November filled with both technical seminar and fun events. Our November technical meeting was a successful student night with almost 75 attendees including 45 students from Cal Poly and SJSU. Mr. Devin A. Abellon, PE, spoke about “embedded tube radiant systems” which was both informative and engaging. We also had Joe Chin, Consultant to ASHRAE Society Student Activities committee; present “What does ASHRAE have to help you with students” which was very helpful for all the students that attended the meeting and members looking to be involved in the student community. Our annual Clay shooting event held on November 12th at Coyote Valley Sporting clays was a huge success. It was a perfect day and the event was attended by over 80 engineers and friends from Golden Gate ASHRAE Chapter, San Jose ASHRAE Chapter and the Association for Facilities Engineering. Thanks to Justin Libay and our volunteer team for heading this event and making it a fun filled day! Coming up in December, we are hosting our first annual “YEA Ugly Sweater Holiday Party” on December 8th. This will be a fun evening which you don’t want to miss! Our December 14th meeting will be a joint meeting with Golden Gate Chapter at the San Mateo Marriott. We are honored to have Mr. Timothy G. Wentz, Society President, as our speaker for this meeting. We welcome you all to this meeting and take this opportunity to meet with ASHRAE’s Society president. Last but not least, on behalf of SJ ASHRAE, I would like to wish all of you and your families, a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year! I would like to end this year’s last message with a Sanskrit saying that goes in my culture “Om Lokah Samasthah Sukinoh Bhavantu| Om Shanti, Shanthi, Shantihi ||” “May all the beings in all the worlds be happy. On November 9th 2016, San Jose ASHRAE held our November Meeting and student at the Biltmore Hotel. We had an amazing amount of students attending the

meeting coming from San Jose State University, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Santa Clara University. Special thanks to Devin Abellon for a very imformative

ASHRAE Sporting Clays - 2016

On November 12th 2016, San Jose ASHRAE and Association for Facilities Engineering held a very successful clay shooting tournament at Coytoe Valley

ACE Mentoring Roles Include:

• Attendance and database manager: keep an up-to-date list of active mentees.

• Parent and site consent forms: collect signed forms for the session and then for each site visit and then upload them for each student.

• Weekly speaker: weekly speaker do a 15-30min talk on a subject, and then do an

activity related to their field or to the students’ project. • Photographer: send photos and updates to the area manager so they can keep

the social media updated. • Mentor: interact with students (5 month commitment)
