This Organization and Management module was written in response to
the world health pandemic in order to continue schooling in a safe way at
home. You will learn how to solve problems involving fractions that you will
meet in your daily life activities.

What’s In
Management is the process of harmonizing and administration of
people, task and functions within an organization to work effectively
and efficiently.
Management Functions refers to the various purpose regarding the
jobs and roles of people in various stages. Each function has a
designated responsibility in the organization.
What’s New
Get a piece of paper and divided it into two parts. Write on the left side
STRENGTHS and WEAKNESS on the right side. Write you answers
based on your strength and weakness in leading or managing a group.

What is it
Types of Management
An organization is required to have key people to organize and managed
it. In the general concept we call the as managers. Managers are the one who technically is responsible for the supervision, sustaining and responsible for
the over-all welfare of the organization and its various stakeholders. As the organization becomes complex, the number of managers is renamed ang given
specific roles and responsibilities to divide the complexity of an organization. This is necessary to maintain the EFFECTIVENESS and EFFICIENCY of
achieving the goals and objectives of every organization.

Manager – a persons engaged in the overseeing, nourishing, upholding
and assuring responsibilities for each member in the organization.
Managerial Roles – are the different roles portray in various levels in
the organization.
Managerial skills – the skills such as the technical, human and conceptual needed by a manager depending on the level of management
they belong.
Conceptual Skills – the ability to conceptualize plans and strategic ideas for the betterment of the supervision of an organization having
the effectiveness and efficiency.
Human Skills – the ability to relate with the people within the
organization. Communicating, motivating, inspiring people in influencing them to follow and believe with the goals and objectives of
the organization.
Technical Skills – the ability to execute plans into operational actions. They are communicators to non-management functions to understand
and be guided on the objectives set by the management.
Types of Management Levels
Top Management Level – they are group of people which implement the strategic and visionary plans of the organization. They are considered as
the brain of the organization. They are responsible for the stability, progress and development and the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization. They are also in-charge of the direction of the company and
control of the results of the plans. Usually the positions that can be found under this level are the Chief Operating Officers, Chief Executive Officer,
President, Chairman, Board of Directors (for profit organizations), Board
of Trustees (for non-profit organizations) and Vice-Presidents.

Middle Management Level – they are the group of people also called as the tactical managers. They have the responsibility to monitor and
communication between the top and lower management. They create and formulate actions based on the strategic plans implemented by the top
management and translate it to the lower management for execution. They are also responsible in bridging the plans and actions from top and
lower management. They are crucial positions since they are the one who can consolidate the slit on the operational and planning management. The positions usually found in these levels are General Managers, Branch
Managers, Department Heads and Junior Executives.
Lower Management Level – they are the technically the operational
managers who translates the visualize and strategic plans into actions.
They execute and perform the day-to-day activities for the organization to
achieve its desired goal. They also bridge the gap between management
and non-management employees.

Interpersonal Roles
1. Figure head – one who has nominal leadership but without real power
as it is possessed by the owner or the President of the company.
2. Leader – they are the one who primes the motivation and activates the
people working within.
3. Liaison – they are the one who unifies the organization in the internal
and external environment.
Informational Roles
1. Monitor – the collector of necessary information needed.
2. Disseminator – the person in-charge with the dissemination of
information.
3. Spokesperson – conveyor of the views and opinion of the organization.

Decisional or Decision-making
1. Entrepreneur – search for new ideas for the business that is unique.
2. Resource Allocator – responsible for the budgeting, programming,
scheduling and finding of resources needed by the organization.
3. Disturbance handler – responsible to maintain the unexpected
circumstance and unwanted pressures to be manageable.

Case 1: Medina Company: The Change of Management
Medina Company is the leading bus company in the area of
Zamboanga Peninsula. They are serving the routes of Zamboanga
Peninsula since 1995. They started with 10 buses but not grow to 250
buses. It was awarded by the Local Government Unit as the Most
Outstanding Companies in 2018 and recognized as one of the most
potential bus companies to dominate the other areas 10 years from
now.
The founder of the company reached the retirement age and wishes
to retire. He is worried who will succeed the President post on his
company. The owner has three sons Jose, Wally and Paolo.

Jose is a Certified Public Accountant and currently employed as the
Chief Accountant of an executive firm. He is well established in the
company, but the downside is the communication skills. He is not
approachable and strict in terms of work but despite such behavior he
continuously grows and be promoted because of his skills which the
management of the company highly values. He is eyed to be the next Vice-
President of the company he works which happens to be his ambition.
Wally is a business management major and currently operates a
business in Cebu. His business was used to be the number one disco bar
but due to the pandemic he needs to shut it off. He has also another
business which is car trading. The business earns an average income. His
work ethics was great and treats the employees well. The downside of his
work attitude is the cash management. He is not that good in handling
efficiently the cash income of the business.
Paolo is a beauty consultant of his own business. He was able to
expand his business in just a matter of five years and reached 20
branches. Their company wishes to be the number one beauty consultancy
services in the area of Davao. Paolo was unable to finish his degree in
business administration and was distracted to join beauty pageants
instead. His current business was the most successful among the other
five business which he failed. He has a good communication skill and even
won a beauty pageant title.
The three sons are no perfect at all which the owner acknowledges.
The Medina Company is willing to train any person who will be appointed
by the owner to be the next President. It is now a headache who will be the
proper choice.
