Syngcuk Kim, DDS, PhD, MD (Hon.) (USA)Dr. Kim is Chairman of the Department of Endodontics and the Louis I. Grossman Professor of Endodontics at the Universityof Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. He received his BA degree from Columbia University in 1972 and DDS degreefrom Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1976. In 1978, he received his certificate in Endodontics andin 1981 a PhD degree, both from Columbia University. Dr. Kim is Director of the Laboratory of Pulp Physiology and theMicroscope Training Center at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He received many distinguishedawards, among them the AAE's Louis I. Grossman Award (1990), IADR's Pulp Biology Award (1991), Honorary MedicalDoctorate by the Karl Franzen University, Graz, Austria (2002), Distinguished Alumni Award by the Columbia University Schoolof Dental and Oral Surgery (2005) and the AAE's Ralph Sommer Award (2006). Jean-Yves Cochet, DDS (FRANCE)Dr. Cochet received his DDS from the University of Paris VII in 1984 and his endodontic training from the University of ParisVII in 1990. He has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Paris VII from 1986 to 1990. He was teachingat the post-graduate program of endodontics directed by Dr. J.M Laurichesse from 1990 to 1996. Harold Slavkin, DDS (USA)Dr. Slavkin is the G. Donald and Marian James Montgomery Professor of Dentistry and the Dean of the USC School ofDentistry. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is aMember of the Institute of Medicine and National Academy of Sciences. Nadia Chugal, DDS, MS, MPH (USA)Dr. Chugal is Associate Clinical Professor and Director of the post-graduate residency program in Endodontics at theUniversity of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She received her DDS degree as well as MS in Oral Biology and MPH in PublicHealth from UCLA, completed hospital-based General Practice Residency at IMMC in Chicago and received a certificate inEndodontics from the University of Connecticut. She was a research fellow and faculty member at UCONN until she joinedUCLA as faculty. Dr. Chugal is Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and maintains a private practice limited toEndodontics. Her research interests include endodontic treatment outcomes and improving treatment prognosis. Topic: Outcome assessment of endodontic treatment: What can we learn from prognosis studies?

Marcela Fridland, DDS (ARGENTINA)Dr. Fridland received her DDS degree from the University of Rosario, Argentina in 1994, a certificate in Endodontics in1999and a PhD degree in 2005. She held a teaching position in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Rosariobetween 1986-1990. Since 1990, she has been teaching in the post-graduate endodontic programs at the University ofRosario and the University of Buenos Aires. Dr. Fridland is an active member of the Argentinian Dental Association and anassociate member of the American Association of Endodontists. She lectures frequently both nationally and internationallyand has served on the editorial board of various journals. David Kelliny, DDS (USA)Dr. Kelliny earned his BDS degree from Cairo University in 1992, DDS degree from USC School of Dentistry in 1998, and acertificate in Endodontics from USC in 2001. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Endodontics at the Division ofSurgical, Therapeutic and Bioengineering Sciences at the USC School of Dentistry. Since 2002, Dr. Kelliny has been activelyengaged in mentoring and lecturing on various aspects of Endodontics with special emphasis on surgical Endodontics. Hemaintains 2 private practices limited to Endodontics serving the South Bay and West Los Angeles. He has been integratingdental implants into his private practice since 2003. John West, DDS, MSD (USA)Dr. West received his DDS from the University of Washington in 1971 where he is an Affiliate Associate Professor. He receivedhis MSD in endodontics from Boston University in 1975 where he is a clinical instructor and has been awarded theDistinguished Alumni Award. He is the Founder and Director of the Center for Endodontics and currently serves as AssociateDirector of Endodontics at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry. Dr. West coauthored Obturation of the Radicular Space withDr. John Ingle in Ingle’s 1994 and 2002 editions of Endodontics and was senior author of Cleaning and Shaping the RootCanal System in Cohen and Burns 1994 and 1998 Pathways of the Pulp. He has recently authored Endodontic Predictabilityin Dr. Michael Cohen’s 2008 Quintessence text Comprehensive Treatment Planning: Principles of the Masters. Dr. West’smemberships include: 2009 President of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and 2010 President of the Academy ofMicroscope Enhanced Dentistry, the Northwest Network for Dental Excellence, and the International College of Dentists. Internationally renowned speakers from Argentina,France and the United States will present to you the most recent updates and advances in endodontics.

In this year’s symposium we will pay a special tribute to Drs. Al Frank and Dudley Glick. Al and Dudleywere instrumental in shaping what is thought, what is taught and what is practiced in endodontics atUSC and around the world. Both were legendary educators and international leaders in the field ofendodontics who mentored and inspired many generations of students and oral health care professionals.A tribute in honor of Drs. Al Frank and Dudley Glick will be held at the opening ceremony of thesymposium on Friday, November 14, 2008.

Parish Sedghizadeh, DDS, MS (USA)Dr. Sedghizadeh is Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry at the USC School of Dentistry. He received his bachelor’s degreein biology from UCLA, D.D.S. degree from USC and specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology from the Ohio StateUniversity, where he attained an M.S. degree in oral biology and fellowship status in the American Academy of Oral andMaxillofacial Pathology. In Ohio, Dr. Sedghizadeh was awarded fellowship by the American Cancer Society for conductingresearch at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, investigating the early molecularevents involved in the progression of head and neck cancer. Dr. Sedghizadeh is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oraland Maxillofacial Pathology. Topic: Odontogenic and non-odontogenic bone pathology of significance to the endodontist
