Public Affairs is Everyone’s Job in the Coast Guard Auxiliary

We are the Coast Guard Auxiliary Public perceives the Auxiliary

as the “Coast Guard” What the Auxiliary does reflects

on the Coast Guard as a Whole We are Team Coast Guard


Public Affairs Coordinates the Message we send to the Public

Messages Must be Consistent throughout the Auxiliary and

the Coast Guard


Message must be consistent across all functional Groups

Program Visitation, Operations, Vessel Examination, Public Education, Recruiting and Public Affairs must carry the same message


In the Public’s Eye, when the Auxiliary speaks, we speak with the authority of the Coast Guard


“Public Affairs, as used by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, is a proactive effort to provide factual and truthful information about Coast Guard Activities and/or Auxiliary activities to the public using available print and electronic media to generate a generally favorable impression of the service to the public.”


Every Time we have contact with the public, we are performing this proactive PA role.

We communicate the Auxiliary core messages to the public at all times.

Uniform regulations change periodically – stay current

Give accurate information to the Public If you don’t know the answer to a

question, research it and get back to the person who asked

Don’t be afraid to say “I do not know”

Don’t give out information that you are not sure is accurate
