I love it when students come and show me their learning. Last week I had some Stage 3 boys share their maths learning with me. It was great to see the problem solving and team work that they utilised to solve their number problem. Well done to Joseph, Nicolai, Jakobi and Kane. Your smiles say it all! We have our Welcome BBQ coming up in Week 5. Check out our Facebook page for the details. We will have lawn games and fun activities for the whole family and we would love to see as many people there as possible. It is a great way to meet the teachers and other parents. You may have noticed a few new faces on our teaching staff. Welcome to Myles Woodward who is teaching Stage 3 (Year 5 and 6). Myles comes to us from Kelso Public School. We also have Averil Keen who is also teaching Stage 3 on Thursdays and Fridays. She is team teaching with Mrs Greatbatch. Monique Haigh comes to us with expertise in dance and PDHPE. When you see them say hello and introduce yourselves, give them a warm Glenroi welcome. Thank you to all of the parents who have attended our class information sessions. We have had a great turn out with over 30 parents/carers attending the Stage 2 session and around 25 parents/carers attending our Kinder session. Your child’s education is so important and your assistance and support is integral in their learning journey. Stage 1 information sessions will be held tomorrow at 2.30pm and Stage 3 will be held this Friday at 2.30pm. We look forward to seeing you all there. Liz Beasley Principal

Message from the Principal Week 3 is upon us and students are settling well into their classes. I love it when students come and show me their learning. Last week I had some Stage 3 boys share their maths learning with me. It was great to see the problem solving and team work that they utilised to solve their number problem. STAGE NEWS Uniforms

Early Stage 1 Uniforms can be purchased from the school office. Polo Shirts $10 Hoodies $20 Hats $10 We are currently out of a few sizes in the polo shirts. New stock has arrived. As you may be aware we are looking to change the school uniform from green to black. We have found that black shorts and tracksuit pants and a lot easier to find than the green. Last year we sent out a survey to see how parents felt about this. We will be following this up over the next couple of week. Please note that changing the school uniform is a 2 year process and parents will not be expected to change the uniform straight away. We have attached the survey on our Facebook page for any parents that have not previously done it.

Our Kindergarten classes are looking at rhyming words in nursery rhymes this week. Kinder Blue are doing Incy

Wincy Spider and Kinder Green is learning Hickory Dickory Dock.

Stage 1 Stage 1 will hold their Information Session on Wednesday 12th February. Come along and have a chat about what is happening in your child’s class this year. Meet outside 2 Red classroom on the lawn area. We would love to see you all there.

Stage 2 Stage 2 classes are reading A Good Tip for Ghosts out of the Paul Jennings book Uncanny. The students are not only reading the book, they are also doing comprehension, strategies and looking at descriptive text.

Stage 3 Reminders A great way to spend Valentine’s Day is to come along to the Stage 3 Information Session at 2.30pm this Friday. Enjoy afternoon tea while you hear about all the wonderful things that will be happening this year in Stage 3.

*Just a quick reminder that students should not be a school prior to 8.30am as there will not be staff supervision. Are you riding your bike/scooter to school?

Please remember to wear your

helmet every day and take it to the office when you pick up a lock.

All scooters and bikes are not to be ridden in the school grounds. This

student is showing us all how to walk our bikes to the bike rack.

LOST PROPERTY Every Friday at 3pm Mrs Barrett will be out the front in the seating area with all lost property that doesn’t

have names on it that we have collected during the week. All items that are labelled with your child’s name will be

returned to the classroom each day.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Playgroup

Come and join us for a cup of tea at playgroup and join in the fun craft activities, stories and singing with the children. Glenroi Grasshoppers Tuesday, 9.30 –11.00am @ Marang Gunya. Cheeky Monkeys Friday 9.00 – 11.00am @ GHPS Preschool Room. Playgroups are a great opportunity to meet other families. If you have any questions please contact Rachel Livingstone, SACC Facilitator on 0401 004 092 or just turn up.
