Prayer for Stewardship
Father and maker of all,
you adorn all creation
with splendour and beauty,
and you fashion human lives
in your image and likeness.
Awaken in every heart
reverence for the work of your hands,
and renew among your people a
readiness to nurture and sustain your
precious gift of life.
Grant this through our Lord
Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in
the unity of the Holy Spirit,

COLLEGE PRAYER SPECIALISM SUCCESS
TRIPS IN 2015/2016
On Wednesday 10 June we hosted the Primary Languages Conference. 175 students from a range of partner primary schools attended. They took part in a workshop with a visiting theatre group and attended sessions in a variety of languages. All Hallows colleagues were impressed with the enthusiasm of primary students. Colleagues accompanying the children were highly impressed with the All Hallows students who acted as Language Ambassadors for the day. Special thanks therefore go to; Emily Hutchinson, Sophie Gilham, Josh Mock, Andzelika Domanska, Christoph Langer, Katie Webster, Oliver Crabtree, Josh Percival, Alec Terry, George Parry, Blessy Poonoly Solamon, Emma Tapp, Chen Ji, Toby Kalnins and Sean Campbell
PARENTS AS PARTNERS: CLARIFICATION OF COLLEGE POLICY
Blazers and jumpers are compulsory.
Students can remove their blazers in class without permission.
Students can remove their jumpers with permission.
Students can remove jumpers at play time on the playground without permission
On a day by day basis "no jumper, no blazer days" may be declared depending on the weather that day.
Students are still expected to arrive at College with full uniform.
Parental support in managing the students' uniform has been received and is very much appreciated - thank you.
RESPECT FOR OUR NEIGHBOURS
Can we please ask all parents who come to College by car to pick up or drop off their children to show respect to
residents of the neighbouring streets and to consider the safety of our students? We put cones on Brooklands Avenue
at busy times to prevent parking on both sides of the road, which could impede the passage of emergency vehicles to
either the school or local residents’ properties, and respectfully request that visitors do not ‘double park’.
On other neighbouring streets there have been instances of waiting parents blocking residents’ driveways and thus
we ask parents to show respect to our neighbours and not to impede access to local properties. Your help is greatly
appreciated and will assist in maintaining good relations with our local community.
COLLEGE TO MAKE A STAND AGASINST BULLYING
Each year our College community makes a stand against bullying and does an activity which gets the message across
that bullying will not be tolerated here at All Hallows. Last year students made a video that can be found on our
website and on YouTube. In previous years we have had pledges signed by the whole community and even planes
flying overhead whilst the school community was on the field spelling out the words "All Hallows is against bullying".
You can find this picture if you google the words "All Hallows Bullying".
This year our community will be invited to add a fingerprint to a teardrop collage. With 1,000 staff and students in the
College it will be long lasting and visible piece of artwork that will help with the message that bullying has no place in
our College.
The College is already planning a number of foreign trips and other visits in the new academic year and students have
all been provided with a letter containing details of these trips. You can access the letter directly via the following link

Whilst the College requires parents to contact us on each day of absence , school policy now requires that any student who accumulates 7 or more days of absence during the course of the academic year will be asked to provide medical confirmation of the need to be absent before any further absences are authorised for medical reasons. This is a necessary measure as we closely monitor absence due to illness / medical reasons in order that we can ensure students are supported where needed. For your in-formation medical confirmation does not have to be a doctor's note but can also take the form of a medical appointment card, a copy of a relevant dated prescription or evidence of medication being taken
If no medical evidence is provided then the absence will be coded as unauthorised. Ten or more unauthorised absences may result in you receiving a Fixed Penalty Notice. This incurs a penalty of £60 per parent / carer to be paid within 21 days, otherwise the penalty will rise to £120 per parent / carer to be paid within 28 days. If the penalty remains unpaid then the matter will proceed to the Magistrates Court where you will receive a criminal record if you are found guilty.
The link between attendance and achievement is well researched and documented and students should be aiming for an attend-ance rate of no less than 97% over the year. Thank you for your continued support with this importance issue.

Most students appreciate the importance of being in College on time. Children who are regularly late do miss out on their education and form bad habits that will not be tolerated in the workplace. As a result of the change to the College day we need to inform parents that students must be in the registration form class for the register to be taken at 8.45a.m. This means students should arrive 5-10 minutes earlier in College to be on time. Any student who arrives after 8.45a.m. will receive a L code. Two L codes within a week will result in a whole college detention (which started on Thursday 6 November). This is a recent change in procedures and moves the detention away from the form tutor and it will now be seen as a whole college issue. Any student who arrives after 9.05a.m. will receive a U code. This means they will be classed as absent for the whole morning and this may have consequences for overall attendance. We are aware that College buses are sometimes late and we can confirm these students are not negatively marked in the register when this happens. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter. From 20 April - gates will be manned and students names will be taken if they are late.

MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS DURING THE COLLEGE DAY
Students must sign out at the Attendance Office before leaving College to attend a medical appointment. When they return to College the student must sign back in. This ensures registers will be accurate and we know the student is off site should we have a fire alarm. The Attendance Office is located in the office along the RE corridor. We thank parents for making medical appointments, where possible, that do not take up a whole day of schooling. This often allows a student to have their legal registration mark for both morning and afternoon sessions and so their overall attendance does not fall.
STUDENT SUPPORT ACROSS THE COLLEGE Friday 12 June 2015
If any parent would like their son or daughter to have a careers interview with Mrs Pilling, our Careers Advisor, this year then please notify the relevant Year Learning Leader who can ensure names are added to the list. Mrs Pilling has seen 461 stu-dents this year for impartial careers advice. Priority is now with any remaining Year 10 students as well as Year 9. Students in Year 7 and Year 8 are welcome to attend her lunch time drop in. She uses the Student Support Office based next door to Music.

TEEN BOOK CLUB—SUMMER EDITION
AUTHOR VISIT
Author Visit - Thursday July 2nd (Period 3 & 4)
Bryony Pearce, award winning local author, will be introducing Year 9 students to her new book, Phoenix Rising,
a dystopian adventure set in the junk filled seas of the far future. The Phoenix is home to Toby and his father,
who have been on the run from the Banshee, for as long as he can remember. However, as the Banshee begins
to close in on the Phoenix , is it time for an end to the feud and create an alliance?
Bryony has also written two other books for teenagers: Angel's Fury and The Weight of Souls, both highly
recommended. Copies of all three books are available in the AHCC library or from a local library.
If your son or daughter wants to attend the session which will be interactive with a Q & A, quiz and reading,
please ask them to speak to their English teacher or Ms Sinclair in the library. There will also be an opportunity
to purchase a copy of Bryony's books. More details to follow.
Log onto: http://www.bryonypearce.co.uk/ for more information, including a sneak peak at the prologue of
Phoenix Rising.
