Use Your Quick Keys.
Looking for stock images to use on your site, ebook, products or video…thinking of just grabbing from Google Images…but wondering if that’s actually uncool because it’s breaking copyright issues? Ah! There’s a solu?on! It’s through Google Advanced Image Search. It allows you to get even more specific about the images you are looking for, including specifying whether they are faces, photos, clip arts, or line drawings. You can also search within images labeled for reuse commercially and with modifica?ons.
Go to hGp://www.google.com/advanced_image_searchand fill out the parameters you want. It’s amazing what you can find!
Use Google’s Advanced Image Search.
Want to see a par?cular search across different areas of Facebook? Use Facebook Advanced Search.
When you type in your query in the usual search box, click on the “see more results” link at boGom of the sugges?ons. Then use the filters on the le[ to see results within people, pages, places, groups, and more.
Try Facebook Advanced Search.

Screen Capture Key Commands For a PC
1. Hit “Print Screen” on your keyboard.
2. Go back to your applica?on and paste it right in by holding down Command+V or going to Edit > Paste in your document, Paint canvas, Photoshop file, etc.
Screen Capture Key Commands For a Mac
1. If you want a file saved to the desktop for later edi?ng use ShiR+Command(Apple)+3 for the whole screen and ShiR+Command(Apple)+4 for a selec?on. This saves a file to your desktop.
2. If you want a screenshot that can be pasted directly into Photoshop/Illustrator/Etc. use ShiR+Control+Command(Apple)+3 for the whole screen and ShiR+Control+Command(Apple)+4 for a selec?on.
Then go back to your applica?on and paste it right in by holding down Command+V or going to Edit > Paste in your document, Photoshop file, etc.
This is especially helpful if you want to create a document of favorite website designs for your web person, explain a procedure to someone, etc.
Capture a picture of your computer screen.
Like taking a picture of your screen, you might want to record a video. For instance, you might want to record a problem or make instruc?onal videos about using apps.
On your Mac, open QuickTime Player. From the File menu, choose New Screen Recording. Click the liGle drop-‐down arrow to pick the audio source and to choose whether or not to show mouse clicks in the recording. Now you can pick to record either the full screen or just a selec?on, and once you're done, you can do the usual things -‐ trim, upload to YouTube, AirDrop it to another Mac, or import it into iMovie for more precise edi?ng.
If you’re on a PC and don’t have Quick?me, you can download the free so[ware called Jing. You can record up to 5 minutes in their free version. When you finish, you can download to your computer, then upload to YouTube or open in video edi?ng so[ware.

If you’re working on your Wordpress website and feel limited by the standard font selec?on, you might enjoy the free Wordpress plugin from Google fonts.
Google fonts has an extensive library of fonts available. Once you download and install the plugin, you can select a font for your headings, paragraphs, etc.
There are two free plugins, the classic one and a newer one. Each makes it easy to add fonts without being a coder.

It is NOT fun to wake up one morning and get an email from someone saying, “Hey, I went to check out your website, but it took me to some porn site in Russia...” (believe me, I know).
If you have a site on a shared server, which is basically any of the basic hos?ng plans from GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc... you’re vulnerable to ge;ng hacked due to not being able to control what’s happening on the server your files are hosted on. If you have a Wordpress site, you’re even more vulnerable because it’s the most popular plamorm in the world so hacker’s target it.
Solu?on? I use Sucuri. They offer 24/7 monitoring of your site to lock it down, and they clean out any suspicious or infected files. They’ve been able to restore every hacked website I’ve given them, my own and for clients. They’re inexpensive, and it’s peace of mind. (I’m not an affiliate, I just think they’re awesome.)
Lock down your website from hackers.
On a similar note...it’s also not fun to lose years of photos, documents, music, programs, etc. if your computer crashes or gets compromised.
I’m anal about backups, so I keep an extra hard drive for weekly local backups but I also have Carbonite running in the background to backup my files. In addi?on to those two, I put regularly-‐used files that I know I’d hate to lose or need if I’m traveling in Dropbox or Google Drive.
It might seem like a chore to organize your files and set up the backups, but once you’ve done it, it’s easier in the future. And it’s WAY beGer than the feeling of regret if you lose it all.
Back your files up.
Want to sell a virtual product (like an ebook or a course), an event ?cket or an hour of services from your website? You can use shopping cart applica?ons like 1ShoppingCart, Premium Web Cart or others...but for something simple and inexpensive, check out Paypal.
Paypal has improved its service over the years. People don’t need a Paypal account to check out from your site and pay by credit card. You can also send invoices directly to someone with their email address, or offer subscrip?ons or gi[ cer?ficates.
Another new ecommerce service that’s quickly becoming a compe?tor to Paypal is 2Checkout (www.2checkout.com). It’s similar in that you can create buGons for your website, and people check out using a credit card.
Neither have a monthly fee; they each take a small percentage out of your payment (around 3-‐4%).
Get paid or send invoices online.
Want to create a new website but not sure how you want it to look?
It can be easy and fun to get ideas by checking out what’s already out there.
Do a Google search for “web design pormolio” and start clicking through the pormolios that pop up from the website results. I also enjoy searching through projects on the web design site, www.99Designs.com.
Finally, you can do a search for top designs for your par?cular website, like “best website designs ecommerce” or “best website designs restaurants.” You’ll o[en find ar?cles on sites like SmashingMagazine.com that showcase lists of well-‐designed websites. Or, you can click on the “Images” in the search results to go straight to images of websites.
