Make yourself ready to learn
1. Make a revision plan and stick to it. Keep your revision notes and books organized. Switch off your computer and mobile phone and study continuously for an hour followed by a five-‐minute break. During the break you should relax, walk around and eat snacks, but do not play games or browse the Internet. Then, continue your revision in 60-‐minute chunks. 2. Drink water and avoid coffee and energy drinks. Energy drinks can give an instant boost, but make it harder to concentrate in the long run. After the effect of caffeine has evaporated, you feel more tired than before. If you feel tired, drink a glass of water, eat a biscuit or do push-‐ups to get the blood circulating in your brain.
3. Sleep and exercise. Because the brain consolidates information during sleep, you should sleep about eight hours every night. Lack of sleep makes it harder to learn and remember. Because physical exercise is good for learning, you should do some form of exercise every day for about 30 minutes.
4. Don’t waste time in the morning. Get back to your books immediately after breakfast. You must make significant progress before lunch to ensure you have enough time to revise all the content. Meeting your target before lunch motivates you to study well also in the afternoon.

Boost your motivation 5. Avoid negative self-‐talk. Erase words like ‘I can’t ‘ and ‘boring’ from your vocabulary. When you are about to revise one of your least favorite subjects, boost your motivation by thinking how interesting the subject is and how you really want to learn. Psych yourself to success. 6. Form a study group. Study groups can motivate you to get started and make your more accountable. As you explain difficult concepts out loud to your friends, it will help you understand and what you still need to go over. If you can get each member to bring a snack, there is an extra incentive to meet.
“Visualize your success. It will help you do better in the final exam.”
7. Avoid negative people with a “meh” attitude. Surrounding yourself with people who say they are going to fail or brag about how little they have revised is bad for you. Keep away from losers, especially during the exams. A positive frame of mind can go a long way to help you succeed.
8. Visualize your success. Imagine yourself walking into the exam room feeling confident and relaxed and taking the exam. Imagine reading the instructions on the cover page and answering the questions.

Think strategically
9. Focus your revision on learning objectives. All the IB courses contain learning objectives you can find in the syllabi. Turn learning objectives into question and practice answering them.
10. Study past exam questions. Pay attention to types of questions and which questions have already been covered. Knowing these two things help you focus your revision on relevant content.
11. Be organized during the exam. Pay attention to instructions, check that you have all the pages in your question paper, read the instructions carefully, select and brainstorm answers during the 5-‐minute reading time. Pay attention to time, so you can answer all the required questions.
12. Forget and cram. Once one of your exams is over, stop thinking about it. Focus all your energy to revision for the forthcoming exam. Sometimes last minute revision can make a huge difference in the final results.
