If you smoke, and then quit smoking for just one day there are zero health benefits.

If you get to work early twice a month no one notices. And you wont notice a

promotion or pay increase as a result.

Consistency is the one word that separates those who reach their goals from those who fall

short. Its why NFL coaches expect each player to be at every practice, giving 110%. Its

why basketball players will shoot hundreds of free throws until their arms go numb.

Consistently investing the same amount each month could mean a portfolio of millions of

dollars while missing a few months or a few years could have you missing hundreds of

thousands of possible earnings.

Consistency pays incredible dividends. Though most people look past consistency. They

opt for sometimes or pretty often. And when youre striving to accomplish remarkable

goals, sometimes produces lackluster results. Always.

It has to be a habit. Something that is done every day and wont succumb to the first

excuse, setback, or raindrop. Dr. Wayne Dyer, a spiritual author and lecturer, is the

epitome of consistency.

Always conscious of his health, Wayne Dyer is an avid runner. Like clockwork, every day

he would lace up his running shoes and hit the road for miles. No matter what rain,

shine, even sickness. Living in Hawaii and speaking stateside posed a dilemma. There were

days he was on a plane for 8, 10, or 12 hours at a time.

Even the most determined people would chalk those days up to a break and sit back

enjoying their peanuts or half can of soda. Not Wayne. He would run in place in the aisle

on the plane, clocking his miles as always. Put that picture in your mind the next time you

think, Ill do it tomorrow.

When you see the word, your mind probably wanders to one of the times you painted a

picture, modeled clay, or wrote a story. Maybe youre an exceptional artist. Maybe you stick

to stick figures and your Play Doh experience consists of molding snakes and little balls.

Doesnt matter. Thats not what Im speaking of. You just like everyone have the

ability to be creative. And if you havent yet discovered, tapping into your creative side

produces powerful results.

Think of the titans of industry today: Google, Amazon, Southwest Airlines, Target, and

countless others. Each rose to the top by employing creative ideas, creative thinkers, and

creative strategies.

Google, in fact, demands innovative ideas and original thinking from everyone on its team.

And everything they do, from their games and on-site cafeteria, to their continuous

development of never-been-done technologies, exemplifies their level of creativity.

You dont have to be a Google. But you do have to use your brain. You see, creativity isnt

magic. Non-creative people typically believe that out-of-the-box thinking just bubbles-up

to top of mind. Maybe for the exceptionally creative; not for most.

It starts with thought. A lot of thought. Think of creativity as a needle in a haystack.

Before you can get to the sliver of brilliance, you have to shovel through a lot of hay. And

that can take mere minutes or several hours.

Think, practice, and get the creative juices flowing. And just know that most everything

that requires effort can be done better and easier through the right creativity.

On the highway, speed kills.

In business, in finances, and in accomplishing your goals, speed wins. Every time.

In an effort to demonstrate the expediency of this section, well keep it succinct and, well,

quick.

Procrastination, complacency, and indecision are the archenemies of speed. So if you

decide you want to become more fit, dont wait until Monday. Create your plan now.

Then, just seconds after now, start working out. Then, immediately after your workout,plan your next one.

In the business world, imagine your boss just handed you a project thats due next month.

Do you start next month, or even next week? Only if you want to show your boss average

work. Start immediately. Always.

Do as thorough a job as quick as possible.

Live by that mantra, and your urgent nature will take you far. And fast!

After watching the morning news, fighting traffic on your commute, and dealing with

priorities and pressures, its hard to imagine how we all arent simply hardened shells of

negativity. Despite what happens in the world around you, you need to maintain a

commitment to optimism.

If you took two people, each with the same degree, same career experience, and same skill

set promotions, pay raises, and opportunities would be heaped upon the one who

maintained a positive outlook on life.

Take a marathon runner who is complaining about the pain, shaking her head, and

worried about the next ten miles shell never finish. Whereas, the runner next to her

who has his eyes focused on the next mile, smiles at the volunteers, and keeps picturing

how great he will feel when he crosses the finish line that person will finish strong.

The same applies to life. Whether its athletics, career success, or personal relationships, the

optimist will attract the best friends and top deals always putting himself in the best

possible scenario.

Optimism is something you can control like the switch of a light. Turn it on and watch

what it brings. Turn it off and opportunities vanish.

You first learned this lesson when you were in diapers remember Winnie the Pooh?

Eeyore was the donkey who always kept a gloomy impression about everything going on.

Just the opposite, Tigger bounced high, laughed non-stop, and enjoyed every minute of

life. What person, customer, and boss wouldnt want to be around (and reward) someone

like that?

So think about how your friends and colleagues see you.

Do they see you as an Eeyore or a Tigger?

You WILL fail. You might even fail spectacularly.

I know that sounds harsh, but its true. Everyone does.

And if for some reason, you go through life without failing then, congratulations, that

right there is a failure. Because it means you havent taken the necessary risks to accomplish

your dreams.

The question isnt if or when youll fail. The question is how will you respond when you

do.

They say that you learn more about a boxer when he gets knocked to the canvas than you

knew from the previous twenty times he knocked out his opponent. One of those boxers

was Mike Tyson.

At the prime of his career, when Mike Tyson was known as Iron Mike, his fights would

be over before the first commercial break. Usually in mere seconds, he would make

mincemeat out of his opponent. Everyone feared him. And everyone knew their fate once

they went toe-to-toe against him.

Enter Buster Douglas, a relatively unknown in the boxing circuit. The world expected him

to become Mikes newest statistic. Then the world was shocked when Buster returned the

favor and knocked-out Mike. From that point forward, Mike Tyson trained harder then

ever before.

What in life has knocked you to the canvas? Perhaps it was a setback in your career and

salary. Or maybe it was a blemish in your health. Or losing a close friend or loved one.

None of us is immune to these types of setbacks. And when they occur without warning,

we can do one of two things. We can wallow in our shame, misery, disappointment, and

sadness.

Or we can pick ourselves up and plan on coming out fighting in the next round.

In Thomas J. Stanleys eye-opening book The Millionaire Mind, he shares a

psychological look inside the mind, habits, and behaviors that led American millionaires to

Of all the traits, the one that most millionaires share is integrity. Yes, integrity. In fact, they

didnt just coincidentally share the same trait. They credit their integrity with significantly

contributing to each of their successes.

When you take a closer look at the reasons why integrity is key to achieving your goals, it

goes much deeper than Good things happen to good people.

After all, who are you doing business with? Someone who is forthright, is completely

honest, and maintains an unwavering set of genuine principles. Or someone who will cut

corners, tell you what you want to hear, lie to make the quick sale, then jump to their next

customer.

Bernie Madoff, architect of one of the worlds largest fraudulent investing schemes, would

certainly be the antithesis of integrity. His example is extreme. But there are also hundreds

or thousands of people who designed their business around making money at any cost.

And many of them are out of business today.

When you hold firm to principles, and refuse to compromise them no matter what the

brief payoff might be, youll almost always win in the long term.

Hold steadfast to your integrity when dealing with customers, employees, friends, and

family. Soon youll realize that people will go out of their way for your help, for your

business for you.

A wise man once told me, Its not how much you know. Its knowing where you can find

the information that counts.

There was a time when that same man had worked to memorize hundreds upon hundreds

of complicated product numbers. Incredibly, when asked, he had the uncanny ability to

recite the product number off the top of his head. It made for a good party trick, perhaps.

But did it give him an edge in business? No.

His competitors had access to the same product numbers. And if they employed

organization and resourcefulness, they could find you the product number just seconds

later. His time would have been better utilized by thinking of creative ways to sell those

hundreds of product numbers.

Being resourceful simply means you know where, when, and how to get what you need. If

you wanted to start a diet that would give you the quickest weight loss, would you know

where to look? If you wanted to start a new business, would you know who to ask and what

to do?

In a world of six billion people, and thousands of years of history, theres not one thing you

can think of that hasnt been done or at least tried before. And odds are, there are a

number of experts who are anxious to tell anyone who will listen precisely how they did it.

Your level of resourcefulness can determine how successful youll be and if youll achieve

your goals or not. Remember, achieving greatness is rarely done alone. It takes people to

support you, to motivate you, to show you the best path.

Go ahead, find your closest supporters friends, colleagues, and family who want to see

you reach your goals. And keep them within reach call or email them regularly. Tell

They probably did, but theres something more behind it. Because they didnt earn the

money because they didnt work each day to make that money, they have zero gratitude.

On the flipside, people who are at the poverty level, yet work extremely hard for every

dollar, many of them are thankful for every meal they are able to eat. Over time their

opportunities grow as their gratitude remains high.

Keep a perspective of gratitude in everything you do. Everyone around you will take notice.

month, but if you lack the confidence in your ideas and presentation, youll never be able

to convince them.

In fact, just about anything you wish to do thats worthwhile, takes supreme confidence.

To earn a promotion and suddenly be the one who employees look to for leadership you

need confidence. To pursue a fitness goal by working out in a gym and running races

thats confidence.

In fact, many peoples levels of confidence are directly proportionate to their level of

success. Do you think you could be the CEO of company without a confidence in your

abilities? Do you think you could start your own business without the confidence in your

business plan?

Yet unlike any other trait, you cant decide that youll be more confident. You cant learn

more to improve your self-esteem. Confidence has to grown slowly from the inside out.

Make sure that you are in a rewarding environment where your friends, colleagues, and

family show their appreciation. Make a point to engage in social networking, exercise or

athletics, and projects at work that reinforce your confidence.

Be confident in who you are, what youve achieved, and the direction youre going.

Once you are nothing can stop you.
