    The workshop is for parents of children (0-18 years) with Aspergers Syndromewho are interested in learning strategies for surviving and thriving whilst bringingup a child on the spectrum.The aim of the workshop is to assist parents to recognise and stop the stresscycle more often and reap the benefits. Decreasing our own stress as parentscan feel impossible at times, particularly in the context of raising a child who ison the autism spectrum. Increased parental stress in the household can add tothe problems our children experience and leave us feeling guilty and even morestressed! Fortunately there is another way. Enhancing ones own personalcoping has a flow-on effect to the rest of the family. The workshop will include

    information and practical activities to assist you to increase your copingstrategies and sense of well-being. Benefits of these methods include betterhealth, more effective parenting and a happier family life.

    Dr Louise Ford DPsych (Clin) MAPS MCCP. Louise is a clinical psychologist whocompleted her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Griffith University. Sheconducted her Doctoral research on the treatment of childhood anxiety disorders,which remains of ongoing clinical interest to her. Louise has recently co-written agroup program for 4-6 year olds with an autism spectrum conditions and difficul-

    ties with managing their negative emotions. She has also co-developed groupprograms for adolescent girls with Aspergers Syndrome and siblings of childrenon the autism spectrum. She is skilled in the diagnostic assessment of children andadolescents and is particularly passionate about working with younger children onthe autism spectrum. Louise is the Clinic Manager at Minds and Hearts.

    Sally Williams MPsych (Clin) MAPS. Sally completed her post graduate studies inClinical Psychology at Deakin University in Victoria. She went on to work in Childand Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) whilst working part time as an ArmyOfficer and Psychologist in the Australian Defence Force (Reserves). She thenmoved to Europe and worked in Ireland as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in avariety of senior positions, all in the area of Autistic Spectrum Conditions and

    mental health. She has also run a successful private practice for the last 6 yearsand worked as a Consultant in the area of ASC. She recently returned to Australiato take up a position in Minds and Hearts.

    The Disability Sector Training Fund (DSTF) target group includes: workers in community based organisations who receive funding from Dept of Communities,Disability Services; unpaid carers; and family members of people with a disability.
