Dear Family,

Some organizations and associations are calling for a limited,

two-month boycott of certain stores because of their censorship

of the word “Christmas.” The boycott is part of an on-going

campaign to encourage businesses, communities, and individuals

to put Christ back into Christmas. The boycott runs from

November 1 through Christmas Day.

The targeted stores have refused to use the word Christmas

in their television commercials, newspaper ads and in-store

promotions, despite tens of thousands of consumer requests to

recognize Christmas. Last year, one store issued this politically-

correct statement to Christmas shoppers: “The store recognizes

that many traditions are celebrated throughout this season and

we feel it is important to display holiday signage that is inclusive

to everyone.”

Christmas is a “holiday” which is derived from the words “holy

day.” Because of Jesus, however, it’s not just any “winter holiday.”

For millions of Americans, the giving and receiving of gifts is in

honor of the One who gave Himself. For any store to pretend

that concept is not the foundation of Christmas displays political

correctness at best and religious bigotry at worst.

Companies with stores that censor the word “Christmas”

want people who celebrate Christmas to do their shopping at

their stores. In the past, boycotts have been very effective in

convincing retailers to change their approach. For example, one

older mainline company backed away from its censorship of the

word “Christmas” and now even offers a “Christmas Club” on its

website.

May our church family be encouraged to shop, spend, and give

as informed consumers! And may we truly believe that there is a

“jingle all the way” with Jesus!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I am very excited about our Christmas Party this month. We

The First Day of ChristmasOn Sunday, December 13, the Children’s Choirs will

present The First Day of Christmas, a musical written

by Jeff Slaughter. This is a hilarious story featuring a

hillbilly family, the Baums. As you get to know Nan M.

Baum, Dan N. Baum, Tan N. Baum, and their friends,

you will continue laughing as you watch the Christmas

message presented in a funny and captivating manner.

Jesus MessiahThis is an incredible musical featuring a story-line that is sure to make you and your family understand and appreciate Christmas from a different perspective. It’s the story of a Jewish family who actually encounters the Christ child at the manger; and, then, struggles to decide whether to believe or not!!! What if you had seen the angels singing? What if you had followed the star and found the Babe in the manger? Would you believe? This musical drama is a great presentation of the Christmas story and the good news of Christ. Invite your friends and family to worship with us on Sunday, December 20, at 6:30 p.m.

Both our adult choir and children’s choir are presenting musicals on December

13 and 20. The music is sensational and

the children and adults have worked very

hard to prepare for these special nights.

Join us at 6:30 p.m. in the Worship

Center to support your fellow church

members and the future generation of

believers as they present this

powerful and, and in some cases, funny

message of Christ.
