Nicola Bailey is a Barrister at Alinea Chambers and the immediate past Deputy Chair of the ARITA NSW Young Professionals Committee. Prior to coming to the Bar, Nicola was a Senior Associate at Johnson Winter & Slattery in insolvency litigation. She has 10 years’ experience as a solicitor in litigation, having worked in firms at both the boutique and national level. Nicola has frequently acted for liquidators, receivers and managers, and bankruptcy trustees in respect of their powers and obligations under the Corporations Act 2001 and Bankruptcy Act 1966, including the conduct of public examinations, actions for voidable transactions and applications to court for guidance under section 90-15 Insolvency Practice Schedule. Nicola has also advised and acted in insurance matters, contract disputes and matters involving the Personal Property Securities Act 2009. She has appeared in Federal and State Courts of various jurisdictions.

John "Jock" Baird was admitted to the Bar in May 2008. He has practised as a barrister from 8th Floor Windeyer Chambers, Sydney, since then, specialising in commercial litigation of all types. His main areas of practice include equity, corporations law, insolvency including cross-border insolvency, trade practices, banking law, contract, fraud, building and construction cases, mediation and arbitration. He was admitted as an INSOL Fellow in 2018. He is an Accredited Mediator NMAS – appointed to Supreme Court and District Court Lists of Mediators. Prior to 2008, he was a Litigation Partner at Kemp Strang, Solicitors, Sydney for 22 years and was an Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation. His areas of practice included insolvency and reconstruction, equity, banking law and building and construction law. He was a committee member of Banking and Financial Services Law Association and ARITA (NSW/ACT).

Andrew Bowcher is a National Partner of RSM. He is based in the Wagga Wagga office and services regional and remote New South Wales and Victoria. Andrew is a Registered Trustee and a Registered Liquidator. He has been practicing in personal insolvency for many years. Andrew has been with ARITA’s NSW/ACT Division since 2012. He has presented at many conferences and workshops and is also an ARITA Workshop Leader. In August 2017, he was part of an inaugural group of senior ARITA members to be made a fellow of ARITA. Andrew is a Chartered Accountant and a fellow of CPA Australia. Andrew has been awarded CPA Australia NSW Presidents Award for Excellence and Leadership in 2014 and 2017.

Innis Cull is a corporate and personal insolvency practitioner who helps people and businesses face challenging circumstances in a commercial yet empathetic manner. He takes great professional satisfaction in solving problems for those who need honest, realistic and commercial solutions on the one hand, and investigating and pursuing fraud and other financial misconduct on behalf of aggrieved parties on the other.

When assisting creditors and parties affected by financial misconduct, Innis has led and often personally conducted numerous public examinations in complex national and international insolvencies. With a particular focus on the investigation of fraud and asset planning structures, Innis has managed a number of Australia’s largest personal insolvency matters. Innis is a registered liquidator, a registered bankruptcy trustee. He is a passionate advocate for insolvency law reform, particularly in personal insolvency and phoenix offending. He presents regularly around Victoria and interstate on all his areas of practice and expertise.

Rachell Davey has practised in family and relationship law since 2000 and is a Partner with Lander & Rogers. She has been involved in all aspects of family law with particular expertise in complex property and financial matters. She holds a Master' of International Law (2005) from the University of Melbourne and practises in international family law matters involving expat Australians, or for clients across multiple family law jurisdictions. She is highly adept at resolving complex property matters involving corporate entities, businesses, addressing the taxation implications of settlement and third parties. Rachell has extensive experience drafting financial agreements (both pre and post nuptial) and advising clients of the appropriateness of a financial agreement in their circumstances. Rachell is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law (2005) and is listed in Doyle's Guide as a leading practitioner of Parenting and Children's Matters (2018, 2020 and 2021) and a Rising Star in Family Law (2016). She is also recognised in Best Lawyers (Australia) (2020) and (2021) for her expertise in Family Law.

Paul Gidley has 30 years’ experience in the insolvency profession, and was registered trustee in bankruptcy in 1997. Paul obtained wide ranging experience and expertise in the field of personal insolvency having practiced with international, national and boutique insolvency firms over the decades. In 2006, Paul joined James Shaw and formed Shaw Gidley a specialist insolvency & reconstruction practice. Paul is also been a company liquidator since 1998. Paul is a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA), a member of the Certified Practising Accountants of Australia (CPAA) and Turnaround Management Association (TMA). Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Masters of Business Administration from Newcastle University.

Matthew Joiner is a Partner at Cor Cordis, Brisbane. He has more than 30 years’ experience in corporate recovery and turnaround, restructuring and personal insolvency matters. He is a Registered Liquidator, Registered Trustee in Bankruptcy, Fellow member of ARITA and Member of the Queensland Division Committee. Matthew has completed numerous reviews and solvency assessments of companies in financial difficulty. He has also given expert evidence about a Liquidator’s conduct and duties, and given evidence in criminal proceedings involving fraud by a director of a failed company. Matthew has administered numerous personal insolvency estates since becoming a Registered Trustee in 2000. His experience includes the management and sale of commercial properties, resolving ownership disputes over real estate and pursuing voidable transactions, including the recovery of assets overseas and realising property located overseas.

Michael Lhuede is a Partner with Piper Alderman and specialises in corporate and personal insolvency law. He is a fellow of ARITA and serves on its Vic/Tas Division Committee. Michael was National Chair of the Law Council’s Insolvency and Reconstruction Committee from 2014 to 2015 and prior to that chair of the Victorian Committee from 2011. As a long standing member of that committee, he has actively participated in the reform of the insolvency law and particularly bankruptcy law. Since 2009, Michael has been selected by his industry peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers list for Australia in the specialty of Insolvency & Reorganisation and is rated as a leading Insolvency lawyer in Doyles Guide to Insolvency & Reconstruction Lawyers.

Neil McLean is a Director at Rodgers Reidy. He is a Registered Trustee in Bankruptcy and a Registered Liquidator with over 20 years' experience working with stakeholders in the insolvency and reconstruction industry. Neil is also a Member of the ARITA Vic/Tas Division Committee.

Jason Porter is an Executive Director of SV Partners and has over 24 years’ experience in corporate and personal insolvency matters at leading insolvency and advisory firms, providing commercial advice to financiers, creditors and directors. He has significant experience in bank advisory assignments for most of the major banks and second tier financiers, including trade on receiverships, security enforcement, property and going concern business sales, investigating accountants’ reports and pre-lending reviews. Jason is experienced at administering difficult and complex bankrupt estates and is regarded as one of the leading personal insolvency experts in Australia. Jason was appointed ARITA Vice President at the 2021 AGM. Since 2014, Jason has been an ARITA NSW/ACT Division committee member and he is Chair of the Membership Committee and Deputy Chair of the AFSA Liaison Committee.

Mark Robinson has 25 years’ experience in the areas of business turnaround, restructuring, corporate and personal insolvency. He became a Partner of PPB Advisory in 2001 and joined dVT in 2019. He is a Registered Trustee in Bankruptcy and a Registered Liquidator. Mark is a Past President and Life Member of ARITA, a Past President of INSOL International and a Fellow of CAANZ. Mark’s appointments include Receiver of entities in the Forum Group of Companies; Personal insolvency of high profile individuals (Dr Geoffrey Edelsten, Eddie Groves of ABC Learning, Ray Williams of HIH Insurance, John Cummins QC); Administrator of Australia's iconic chocolate manufacturer, wholesaler, exporter and retailer (Darrel Lea Chocolates); Receiver, Administrator and Liquidator of first and second tier building companies (Reed Constructions, Kell & Rigby, Bezzina); Administrator of Australia's leading retailer of seconds and surplus electrical goods (2nds World); and Administrator of Managed Investment Schemes (Australian Rural Group, Tumut River Orchard Management).

Séamus Ryan is a Senior Associate in Rigby Cooke’s insolvency and reconstruction group.

As a professional member of ARITA of six years’ standing, Séamus advises insolvency practitioners, company directors and individuals about the legal aspects and consequences of corporate and personal insolvency, and has conducted complex litigation on behalf of his clients in a number of jurisdictions.

John Winter took on the role of CEO of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (formerly the Insolvency Practitioners Association) in February 2014. He was previously the Head of ACCA Australia and New Zealand. ACCA, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, is the global body for professional accountants with close to 600,000 members and students throughout 183 countries. Prior to taking on the role as Head of ACCA ANZ, John worked as a senior marketing and communications professional across the recruitment industry, membership organisations and the banking and finance sector. His past roles include Chief Marketing Officer ANZ for leading listed international recruitment firm, Hudson. He has also worked for a major division of insurance firm QBE and was previously Director of Communications for the NSW Rural Fire Service – an organisation with 69,000 volunteer members.

Andrew Yeo holds a dual specialism in both personal and corporate insolvency. As a Liquidator and Registered Trustee in Bankruptcy, he relishes the challenge of finding solutions for complex problems where there’s no straightforward solution. He is thorough, resourceful and determined when chasing down answers for creditors. Andrew’s expertise can span any industry, business or scenario. One day he might be winding up a travel agency in Melbourne; the next chasing down a lead in Romania. Victoria Young is Associate Director at Heard Phillips Lieberenz and is a specialist in Personal and Corporate Insolvency. She has worked in the field of personal and corporate insolvency since 2005. Victoria is a Registered Trustee in Bankruptcy and has over 15 years of experience in providing compassionate and appropriate advice to individuals facing personal insolvency.
