Important Members Organising the Proceedings

The following photograph shows some of the main members who give their time to help the smooth running of the Meets (just so new members know who’s who).

Back row, left to right: Jef Lockyer (JefL), Patrick Egan (Pad. E), Jason Curtis (cookie), Paul Carter (whiteleaves),

Cheryl Beaver (Mrs MikeB) & Mike Beaver (MikeB).

Signing In Procedure

On arrival please proceed to the signing in gazebo which will be open from 8.30 am. If you have already paid then

you just sign in and you will be given your competitors pack which will contain any targets (paper) that you will need

together with score cards for these and the different plate competitions. If you have not paid, do not worry – you

can make your payment(s) and then sign in and get your pack.

Please ensure that you hand in your scorecards and targets AS SOON AS YOU HAVE COMPLETED

SHOOTING – collating the scores is very time-consuming and the sooner we can make a start on this

process the more smoothly the Award Presentation will proceed.

RANGE SAFETY (See detailed Rules at the end of this leaflet)

Our range safety rules have to sensibly cover this range of guns. Use of eye protection, whilst not mandatory, is strongly recommended whenever on the range. If you have any questions please ask a range official.

each competition. The printed Courses of Fire will be placed within each Shooting Area. Please hand in each

5. When a gun is on the firing line or in a designated safe area and is not holstered or cased it must be directed downrange or at a designated safe backstop.

6. If you have a jam or a problem with your gun do not carry it off the range, lay the gun on the firing line pointing safely downrange and notify a range official.

7. If you wish to allow another shooter to use your gun do not hand guns across lanes, have the other shooter come to your firing position or make your gun safe and carry it in a case/slip or holster to their position.

8. On the command MAKE SAFE or at the sound of a horn blast you must safely unload your gun; removing any pellets and/or magazines. If your gun cannot be safely unloaded in this way fire all pellets in it into the ground downrange of the firing line, make it safe and lay it down pointing down range on the firing line.

Loan of Pistols (when a competitor does not own the type needed for a particular competition).

Within the designated plinking area there will be a holding area for pistols which UBC members have generously offered to others when they wish to enter a competition for which they do not own the particular type of pistol needed. You will be able to trial the pistol first on the plinking range and, if you find it suitable, it will be issued to you in a numbered and labeled, soft protective pistol slip (as in the photograph above) for the duration of the competition you wish to enter. You will sign for the pistol and records will be kept so as to easily relocate the pistol for others to use. It would be appreciated if you could return the pistol to the holding area as soon as you have shot the competition so as to make it available to someone else. We expect this new arrangement to speed up the awarded competitions and enable more people to take part in as many as possible. The owners of these pistols have freely offered them for loan but any problems, damage or faults arising from their use will be a matter to be resolved between the person who takes the pistol on loan and the actual owner. It is not expected that there would be any difficulties between any UBC members but the person who has the pistol on loan agrees to this arrangement by signing the record sheet when they take temporary possession of the pistol.
