THE MARKOF

THE WICKED ONES

 by Richard Gan

In this m essage, we shal l tak e a journ ey throu gh t ime to s tu dythe dis t inguish ing MARK OF THE WICKED ONES . We can tra ceth e MARK foun d on th e wicked ones begin n in g from th e first one

who dwelt ou tside the Ga rden of Ed en to th e la st on e who is dwellin gin th e Vat ican .

I will deal mainly with that MARK which th e Lord God h ad setu pon Cain .

Of wha t importa n ce is t h is r evelation of THE MARK OF CAIN to

a Bible Believer?

An u nd erstan din g of the MARK will certa in ly en ab le u s to recog-nize the working of the children of the Wick ed One throughout theages, es pecially in our da ys. Cain , the  s eed o f the Serpen t , had h isown kin d which st i ll exists toda y. Th at MARK which God had setu pon Cain can a lso be foun d u pon h is kind. As you take a look arou nd

you, you can never m iss his kind with tha t promin ent MARK uponthem.

EXPULSION FROM THE PRESENCE OF GOD

After s in h ad en tered th e Garden of Eden, th e Man an d h is Womanwere expelled from th at d eligh tfu l place (Gen .3:22-2 4). It was n ’t jus ta s pecific location from which God h ad driven th em away an d wh ichGod had placed cherubim to guard the way to the Tree of Life.Remem ber th at t h e Bible is writ ten in th e lan gua ge of th e Spirit . Inma ny passages , the TRUTH is h idden from th e wise an d pru dent who

are conten t to read th e Bible cas u ally an d scra tching on ly th e su rfaceof it . Bu t we, who are sp iritu al , do mind th e deep spiritu al th in gs of God.

The couple were actually driven from the Eternal Presence of God. They were in tha t p lace where they ha d access to the realm of th e spirits . Th ey were actu ally dwellin g in the Glorious Presenceof the Almighty. But when sin entered their lives, they were no

longer allowed to live in the presence of the SOURCE OF LIFE(Gen .3:22 ). They were dr iven a way from God’s Gloriou s Pres e nc e o f Eternal Life. Sin brought dea th u pon them.

“Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to

till the ground from whence he was taken.”

  – Gen .3:23

Thus , man became earth bound  and possessed a corruptiblena tu ral body, an d s ince then h as b een denied access to tha t realm of th e Glorious Pres en ce of his Creato r (Gen.3:24; 1 Cor.15:42-50).

Th enceforth , Ada m h ad to toil by tillin g the grou n d to obta in foodfor hims elf an d h is wife. In t h e sweat of h is face, an d in sorrow, heha d to labour aga ins t the th orns and th is t les which s prang u p fromth e grou nd becau se of God’s curs e upon i t.

CAIN & ABEL

In th e cours e of time, Eve gave birth to twins , Cain a n d Abel. Ev ewas the mo th er of all l iving , as s h e was n am ed (Gen.3:20 ). Alth ough

Cain (whose na m e means  acquis i t ion ) was th e elder of th e twin s, th ewhole Sacred Scripture bears out that he w a s n o t o f Ad a m .   Cain

w a s a Be a s t -m a n , t h e s e e d o f t h e S e r p e nt . Abel was t h e firstb ornof Ada m .

“And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

And in the process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the

fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.

And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat

thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And Cain was

very wroth, and his countenance fell.

And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy

countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not

well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou

shalt rule over him.”

– Gen .4:2b-7

From th e above accoun t we can see a m arked difference betweenth e twin s. Like his fath er, th e Serp ent, who was a s ervan t of Ada m ,Cain was a tiller of the ground. Whereas , Abel was a shepherd.

An d like h is fat h er, Adam , he h ad d ominion over th e an im als th at Godha d c rea ted.

Wh ile Cain h ad b rou gh t of th e best of th e first fruit s of h is h arvest

as an offering to the Lord, he did not have the divine revelation of wha t God desired. Apostle Pau l sa id h is sacrifice was excellent , bu tAbel was more excellent  (Heb.11:4). God not only want ed the best ,

b u t t h e BLOODY BES T, if I m ay s ay so, not m ean in g to be sa crilegiou s.Because of the make-up of his personali ty , Cain never unders toodth at . He was not  a s on of God as Abel was .

Abel offered to J ehovah God pr ecisely wha t God desired: th e shedblood of the bes t firstl ings . That   prophet ic reve la t ion point ed toth e Seed of the w oma n (Gen.3:15) who was to come as the  Lamb of God  an d die a bloody deat h a t Moun t Calvar y. Th e  Lam b of God  wa sour Lord, J esu s the Chris t . He was God’s BEST GIFT to ma nkind .

God was not with out m ercy an d grace when He rejected Cain a ndh is offering. On th e contr ar y, He was , and a lways is , rich in Gra cean d Mercy. He always provides the way for man to retu rn to Him th atm a n ’s fellowship with Him m ay be rest ored.

Yes, even in th is gen eration, h ad God n ot  sen t to us th e second‘Elijah’, proph esied in Malach i 4:5-6, we would n ot  be foun d walkin g

in the Light of His WORD, neither would we have the  REST  t h a tProph et Isa iah h ad pr ophes ied (in Isaiah 28 :8-13 ). We wou ld m ostlikely be ou t in th e den omina tion al qu agmire an d h ogwash if n ot for

th e Grace a n d Mercy of God.The Lord is res to ring His Bride back

to His WORD th at He ma y kn ow her a s His Own before He bu rn s th eworld u p at His coming. (Read Mat th ew 7:21-2 3; 25:11 -12.)

Now, there ar e various int erpreta tion s given to Gen esis 4:7. On evers ion s ta tes th at Cain was told to ma ster h is s in , which was crouch-ing at th e door (of h is hea rt), beca u se of h is wron g offerin g. An oth er

version implies that Cain sinned because he did not do well in hisoffering, and that he was told to go back to his brother Abel, whowou ld b e su bjected to h im .

On th e face of it , all th ese in terpr etat ions s eem to be accepta ble.

But th e Great Mercifu l an d Graciou s God did not jus t s top a t sh owingCain  t h e a c c e p t a b l e w a y , but had gone beyond that by providingh im  a n a ccept a ble s in-of fer ing .

Let me para ph rase Genesis 4:6-7:

“ And the Lord said to Cain, ‘W hy are you angry? And why do you

look so downcast? If you had done well, would you not be accepted?

And if not, there is a sin-offering crouching right before you. He is

subjected unto you, and you can do with him as you please.”

Th ere is a s omewhat s imilar s i tu ation in Genesis 22. When Isaa casked Abraham about the lamb for the burnt offering, Abrahamrep lied th at God wou ld provide Hims elf a lam b (vv.7-8 ). An d righ t atth e mom ent when Abrah am was to sa crifice Isa ac as a bu rn t offering,God provided him a ram for the pur pose. And Abra ha m went an dtook th e ram u nd er su bjection an d offered him u p for a bu rn t offerin gu n to the Lord (vv.13). See also 2 Corinth ians 5:21.

Well, Cain was n ot like Abr ah am . He was of Sat an , the Wicked On e an d th e Advers ar y of God. He was too prou d an d too lifted u p toaccept God’s Prov ide d Way of Worsh ip , especially seeing that Godh ad favored his youn ger broth er an d his offering. Like m an y today,he felt that his religion was as good as Abel, and that God shouldaccep t it. To Cain , even God ’s gift was n ot good en ough , com par ed towhat he h ad to offer. He spu rn ed the Gra ce an d th e gift of God, an d

walked out on Him . (Can you see th e sa m e th in g bein g com m ittedtoday by thous an ds an d th ousa nds of people wh o ju s t h ave n o desireto accept God ’s Gift at Calvary and  His Provided Way of Worship inth at Blessed Name of J esu s Chris t?)

Som e time later, bein g filled with en vy, jea lou s y, em u lation, wrat h ,an d other works of th e flesh , Cain t ook h is (h alf-)broth er Abel to th efield, an d argu ed with h im abou t religion. (‘Religion ’ ha s a lways beenth e great est cau se of bloodsh ed. Read 1 J ohn 3:12.) An d Cainm u rdered Abel an d bu ried him good an d proper, th at h e might n ot befound.

Well, he didn’t realise (or did he?) that the blood could cry out.

Li fe is in the blood. And God heard the cry of Abel’s blood. Hequest ioned Cain concern in g his b rother ’s dea th .

Cain ’s reply, as recorded in Genesis 4:9, was not merely a softsp oken den ial of guilt wh ich m an y Bible read ers th in k so. On th econt rary, Cain was insolent ly violent . He litera lly sh outed at God.

THE CURSE ON CAIN

The Lord God th en cu rsed Cain:

“ And He said, What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother ’s blood

crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou cursed from theearth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother ’s blood from

thy hand; when thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield

unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the

earth.”

  – Gen.4:10-12

Notice the sh ock reaction of Cain when he h eard th e pun ish m entGod h ad pronoun ced on h im:

“ And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can

bear. Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the

earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a

vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that  findeth me shall slay me.”

  – Gen.4:13-14

Now, wh y wou ld “every one” (excluding the sons of God, theSethites) want to kill h im? As he h ad protes ted, his pun ish m ent wasalready too m u ch for him to bea r. Was it becau se h is in iqu ity was toogreat to be forgiven ? Not on ly was h e un der a cu rse an d rejected byth e eart h wh ich received th e blood of Abel, bu t Cain wa s a lso ban ish edfrom the Presence of God to live a nomadic life as a fugitive and avagabond.

Th e an swer to th e earlier qu estion lies in th e first pa rt of Genesis4:12. Th e grou n d wou ld no longer yield its str en gth for everyon e’scrops no matter h ow ha rd th ey wou ld work on it . Tha t was th e cau sefor th e other ill consequ en ces wh ich wou ld b efall h im.

The people who would later come into existence in his lifetimewould su rely rise u p again st h im to kill h im. Th ey wou ld n ot ju stmerely curse and swear a t him, they would want to kil l h im; notbecause he was a m urderer, bu t because he had caused the groun dto be cur sed th at th ey wou ld be u n able to reap what th ey ha d sownn o m at ter how ha rd th ey wou ld work the field. Ven gean ce would beth e nat ur al reaction of th e un regenera te to someone who ha d cau sed

th em a ll th ose troubles!

THE GROUND: TWICE CURSED

The grou nd was cu rsed twice. The firs t cu rse was the ju dgmentof God on t h e sin of Adam . Alth ough t h e grou n d wou ld bring forththorns and th is t les , it s s t rength to produce abun dan t c rops was n o trem oved (Gen.3:18 ). Th e secon d cu rse was t h e pena lty of Cain ’s sinfor sh edding th e righ teous blood of Abel. Th e Lord h ad h eard th e voiceof Abel’s blood (which denotes his posterity) crying out from thegrou nd u nt o Him (Matt . 23:35). And Ca in was placed u nd er a cu rsein which th e grou n d was n o longer able to yield its crops as it u sed to

be. Th e h arvests which were once plentifu l h ad become ba relysufficient.

THE MARK OF CAIN

“ And the Lord said to him, It shall not be so; whoever slays Cain,

vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark

upon Cain, so that anyone who may find him may not kill him.”

Th e E l Sha dd a i ha d once again s hown His Mercy an d Grace un toCain u pon h earing his plea. Cain h ad feared for his life becau se of th e curs e on th e grou nd a s a r esult of h is s in in sh edding Abel’s b loodu pon it. Bu t God prom ised him th at h e wou ld not be so eas ily killed

by any person who sought to kil l h im, and He further added that aseven fold vengean ce would be u pon a n yon e who took Cain ’s life. Andth e Lord set u pon Cain a mark which m ad e it imposs ible for an yon eto kill h im.

Wha t was th a t MARK?

Some Christians believe that the mark was either a visible sign, indelibly inscribed upon Cain ’s forehead, similar to that which isdescr ibed about the   Mark of the Beast as recorded in the Book of Revelat ion, or tha t he h ad black skin. There are others who do noteven both er to fin d ou t wh at it was . A tru e Bible Believer s h ould n ever

adopt s u ch an a t t i tud e towar ds th e Word of God, bu t is enjoin ed to“s tudy to s how thyse lf approved u nto God, a w ork ma n that needethnot to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth ” (2 Tim.2:15).For “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for d octrine , for rep roof, for correction, for ins truction in righteou s ne s s : tha t the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim .3:16 -17).

Yes, th e Bible sh ould b e ou r m ost pr eciou s Book of all books onou r book sh elves . An d we would gain by receiving th e revelation of God ’s h idden m ysteries with in It.

Th e mark set u pon Cain was s ometh ing which could protect h im

from being killed. Therefore, it was n eith er an ind elible visible signon h is forehead n or the black colour of h is sk in. How cou ld a m ar k upon Cain ’s forehead (the Bible does not state so) or being a black pers on ever pr otect him from being killed by other m en ?

Th e mark was certainly a visible prote ct ive sign wh ich was ableto generate fear in his opponen ts . An y would-be killer wou ld th ink twice before ma king an y at tem pt on Ca in ’s life lest h e be overp oweredby Cain .

Believe i t or not ,  th e MARK s e t upon Ca in w a s h i s SIZE. Thisis th e revelat ion I h a ve received from t h e Holy Spirit a ccordin g to His

Scriptures . That sa m e MARK was u pon som e of his kind, a s we sha lls ee by followin g th e tra il of th e Serp ent .

SAGACIOUS GIANT OF A MAN

Th e Proph et of God to th is a ge, William Bran h am , told u s t h at t h eSerpent was a BIG fellow . Let ’s sa y he was 1 foot ta ller th an Ada mwho was perh aps 6 foot ta ll based on th e average height of m an kin d.Remember, he was created to be Adam ’s servant to work the field.Being a Serpent ’s seed, Cain must a lso be a BIG fellow like the

Serpent according to the law of reproduction. When God set theMARK upon Cain, He actually further increased his PHYSIQUEand his INTELLECT.

Now, would any of his descendants, who stood about 7 foot tallan d weighed 300 poun ds, da re to look u pon a gian t l ike Cain, whostood, perhaps between 9 and 10 foot tall (may be even taller) andweighed some 800 pounds, and say,   “  I am going to kill you, youtrouble-maker!”?

Undoubtedly, no man in his r ight mind would dare make thata t tempt .

At th is ju nctu re , le t me sa y th at th ough Cain was the father of theCainites , h is descenda nt s were not gian ts u nti l th ey int erm arried withth e Sethites and produ ced the hybrids .

Genesis 6:4 s ta tes tha t th ere were gian ts in th ose days before a n dafter th e Flood. The giants were a result of the intermarriage of the two l ines of people, the Sethites and the Cainites , whichprobably began so me t im e before t he generation of Enoc h. Thiscan be determined by lookin g at th e two genealogies of Cain a n d Seth .

According to the record of Genesis 4:19-22, the line of  pureCainite people ended with the three sons of Lamech — Jabal,Jubal and Tubal-cain. They belonged to the same generation asEn och, a descen da n t of Seth (Gen.5:18-24 ). Th e h ybriding betweenth e two peoples m ost likely took place two or th ree genera tions priorto this period. It brou ght an en d to th e totally PURE Cain ite race.

But as th e seed is t ra ced to th e ma le sex, the Cainite race continu edeven a s th e ma le descen da n ts t ook to them selves wives of th e Sethiterace.

As the two peoples began to intermarry among themselves, thepure des ce ndants of Seth con tinued for anothe r three ge nerationsunti l the ge neration o f Noah who was the last o f the pure S ethiterace (Notice, like J ab al, J u bal an d Tuba l-cain, Noah ’s fa th er was a lsona med Lam ech. )

Giants, both physical and intellectual, were born as a resultof genet ic disturbances in th e h ybriding. However, n ot everyon ewho was born of su ch in ter -racia l ma rriages was a gian t . But th e

majority of them were by nature more wicked and evil (Gen.6:4-5).And so, by God ’s foreknowledge of that condition, Enoch was bornan d ra ised u p to pr ophesy agains t th at wicked an d evil generation. His s on, Meth u selah, was th e living testimony of h is faith in J eh ovahGod. He was a lso a faith fu l testim ony to h is God-given p roph ecyconcerning the impending judgement of God upon the earth (Jude14,15).

Intellectually , Cain was as smart an d cunning as his fa th er, theSerpent. He h ad n ot only inh erited th e evil traits from the w icked

on e , the devil, but was also full of  worldly wisdom . Wh en Godincreased his BUILD, the SIZE of his BRAIN also increased pro-port ionately and his mental capacity and reasoning power wereth u s enh an ced. Sh ould a group of men come agains t him , Cain

might not be able to overcome them with his build alone, but withh is INTELLECTUAL SHREWDNESS he would be able to escapeunsca thed .

Wh ether you are h un ting or being hu n ted, you h ave to be sm artan d cu n n ing in ord er to get your prey or to st ay alive. With th e MARKset on him, Cain m u st h ave been more su btle th an h is Serpent fa th er.His intel lectual and sagacious m ind m u st h ave helped him to ou twith is purs u ers in m any s itu a t ions when he was be ing hu nted .

“  A fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth”  —   a s t h eLord God h ad sa id to Cain, and s o was h e. As h e was being hu nted,

Cain con stan tly had to ru n from one p lace to an other to hide himself  from h is pu rsu ers .

‘SPIRITUAL’ DECEIT

Remember, Cain was also   spiritually religious. But h e d id n o tworsh ip God in TRUTH. He rejected GOD’S PROVIDED WAY OFWORSHIP. He killed th e right eou s Abel ou t of jealou sy becau se h isown deed was evil. After God ha d jud ged h im, he set off towar ds t h elan d of Nod a n d led a wa n derin g life.

Genesis 4:16-24 is a record of Cain ’s descendan ts who were as

carnally a n d intellectually minded  as Cain. Th e Bible records tha tthey were either great builders of BIG or PROMINENT m o n u m e n t sand cities, or great artificers and inventors of  BEAUTIFUL meta lobjects , mu sical ins tru men ts , tools an d weapons. They were a lso asRELIGIOUS as th ey could b e.

As we read Genesis 4:26, i t appears that this people in thegeneration of En os ha d begun to call u pon th e Nam e of J ehovah Godto wors h ip Him:

“ And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his

name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.”

Genera lly, th e verse ha s been m isinter preted by most people. Iti s p repos te rous to be l ieve tha t the Serpent ’s de scendan ts , theCainites , had suddenly turned to the Lord God to worship Him in

spirit an d in trut h. There are tw o obvious reas ons why it could n ot h ave been so. On the o ther hand , they a re those who teach tha t th is verserefers to Divine worship being practised only from the time of Seth ’sdes cenda n ts. Th is is even more ridicu lou s. Before Seth , both Cainan d Abel were worsh ippin g God. Th ere’s no doub t abou t it . Theywere brought u p to do so by Ada m a nd E ve. When Seth was born , hetoo learn ed to worsh ip J ehovah in th e sam e man ner. He would intu rn teach h is children who would a lso learn abou t th e tru e form of Divin e worsh ip even from th eir gra n dpa ren ts, Ada m an d Eve. Assu ch, it is ind eed a bsu rd to say th at t he Seth ites only began to worshipJ ehovah after Enos was born . As it was only a sh ort span of t im ebetween th e two gen erat ions of Ada m an d Seth , how could th ey h aveforgotten h ow to wors h ip God? True worship could not  ha ve begu nonly after En os was b orn. It began whe n Adam was creat ed and h ascont inued eve r s ince .

Ancient J ewish r ecords rendered th at th e “m en ”  refers to theCainic ra ce wh o “bega n p rofanely to call upon the na me of the Lord ”.Th at is righ t. Th ey h ad d esisted from t h at little knowledge of th e tru espirit of worship that they might have learned from Cain, althoughthey might n o t have the t ru th . They ha d tu rn ed to ma ke themse lvesidols out of precious metals , wood and s tones , and surnamed theiridols after th e Name of Jeh ovah God in th eir wors h ip.

The profanation of God’s Holy Name st arted from Enos ’ t imeto and beyond the Flood. All th e time , th ey got even m ore evil an dmore wicked, especially when they later co-habited with the Sethitewomen an d produ ced gian ts who were  “m ighty m en”, “m en of renow n”.

(Read Gen esis 6.)

After th e Flood th e serpentine nature was more m arkedly m an i-fes ted in Ha m an d h is descenda nt s . One of th em was Nimr od, a sonof Cu sh . Nimrod was the bu ilder of  Babylon a n d t h e Tower of Babel  (a n ame which m eans ‘the ga te of the god ’ and a lso ‘confusion ’). Hewas a lso th e one who introdu ced the worsh ip of Baal .

Enos ’ name, in itself, was a revelation that the Cainites werespiritually ‘incurable, sick, frail and weak ’, especially when theyprofan ed th e Holy Name of God. Seth gave his son th at n am e ‘Enos ’as a witn ess to tha t generation of evil people. Moreover, Enoch , th e

seventh from Adam , was ra ised u p to proph esy of th e Lord ’s judgmentu pon th eir u ngodliness (J u de 14,15.)

Th e th ird featu re of Cain ’s MARK was h is a bility to deceive th epeople spiritually , mak ing th em religious . Always bear in m in d tha tCain was of the Evil an d Wicked On e, th e Adversary of God an d Hispeople. Sat an h as always been a DECEIVER. Well, how cou ld tha t a bility fu rth er h elp p rotect Cain from th osewho sou ght to kill h im?

Except Noah and his family, and pairs of every kind of animal, bird a n d creeping thin g, all the rest of th e livin g things u pon t h e faceof th e earth were destr oyed in t h at delu ge. All th ose wh o su rvivedwith Noah were in th e ark for abou t a year.

The Flood had des troyed ALL the pure Se rpent ine peo ple. Noliteral Serpent s eed exist s today, as s ome believe oth erwise. Bu t th eevil an d b eas tly serpen tine nature is pr esent in th e whole of hu m anra ce. For we are all of th e sam e blood. We are descenda n ts of eith erHam , Shem or J aph eth, who carried a m ixture of the blood of righ teou s Noah , a Seth ite, an d h is wife, wh o was eith er a Ca inite or ahybrid.

SERPENT NATURE

It was n ot long after th e Flood th at th e se rpentine nature began

to man ifest itself. Am ong the thr ee son s of Noah , th e serpent in ena tu re was more pred ominant in Ham . It ha d so dominated him thathe comm itted inces t with his m other while his fa th er was dru nk inh is ten t (Gen .9:20 -23 ; cf. Lev.18:8; 2 0:11 ).

When Noah came to kn ow abou t it , he s aid , “Cursed be Canaan;a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren ” (Gen.9:25).Can aa n was th e fru it of Ham ’s incestuou s act with his moth er.

Cana an was the las t of the four sons of Ham . He was th e fa th erof the Canaanites ; all giants , like th e J ebu sites , th e Amorites , theGirgasites , an d m an y oth ers , which dwelt in th e lan d of Cana an .

CUSH & NIMROD

Yes , th e Mark of Cain was upon Ham an d h is descend an ts , too .They were p eople of great st ature . Ham ’s firs tborn , Cush , th e rin g-leader in the building of the Tow er of Ba bel and the c i ty  Babylon ,was also a great big fellow. In Pagan An tiquity h e was kn own byseveral n am es, two of which were Bel – ‘The Confounde r ’, and Chaos

Nimrod took over his father ’s un finished work. He came to be

Par allel to Ham ’s incest with his m other was Nimrod’s m arriageto his o wn mot her, Semiram is. ES AU & J ACOB

Now, le t u s s kip th e pages of h is tory an d look at Es au an d J acob.

“ And Isaac entreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren:

and the Lord was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be

so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the Lord.

And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two

manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one

people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve

the younger.”

  – Gen.25:21-23

“…and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was

a plain man, dwelling in tents.”

  – Gen.25:27

Th is b rief record c learly sh ows u s th at Es au an d J acob were twinsof the sa m e father. But th e twins th at were con ceived in th e Gardenof Eden were of differen t fathe rs. Cain was a s eed of th e Serpent an dAbel was of Adam.

We h ave noticed th at , after t h e Flood, of th e th ree son s of Noah ,Ham possess ed a very dominan t serpent ine n atu re , the ma rk of whichwas a lso ma nifes ted in his direct descend an ts .

Therefore, even by the s am e fa ther, d i f fe ren t k ind s o f s eed s c a n c o m e f o rt h o u t o f t h e s a m e w o m b . It will eith er b e a sp iritu al

Messenger , William Bra n h am . Th ey wou ld obey an d walk out of th eir‘homelands ’ to claim th e Promised Word. An d like Abr ah am , th eywou ld h ear the V OICE OF T  HE  A RCHANGEL and receive HIM  — THE

As Isa ac loved Rebeka h , so Christ J esu s loves His Chu rch . An da s t h e w o m b of Rebekah p rodu ced  tw o d i ff e rent peop l e , s o ha s th eChurch today. It h as also prod u ced its ‘E s a u s ’ a n d ‘Jacobs ’. Thesp irit of th at religiou s Serpen t seed h as t ru ly crept in.

Cons ider the two persons , Esau an d J acob .

Esau was a strong man , perhaps big . He married three wives, two of wh om were Hitt i te giantesse s (Gen .26:34 ). Th ou gh polygam ywas permitted then, he was unequally yoke d with the unbelievers.

He was also a cunning hunter, an intel lectual ma n who was know-ledgeable abou t th e th in gs of th e world.

Jacob, on the other hand, was merely a plain ma n. He was ashepherd , livin g a simple life. He married fou r wives: Lea h , Rach el,Bilhah an d Zilpah — believers within ‘th e fam ily’, so to speak.

Being the firstborn, Esau was heir to all his father ’s propert ies .He had the birthright . But when h e was pu t to a tes t in a d i res i tuation, Esau   de sp i s ed   THE PROMISE OF THE WORD. To dealwith his then fam ish ed condit ion was m ore im portant to him tha n hisbirth righ t. He sa id, “ I am at th e poin t to d ie: an d w ha t profit sh a ll this

birthright d o to m e?” So he d espised h is b irth righ t for a p iece of brea dan d a bowl of vegetab le sou p.

Is not this the confession of some of the ‘E s a u s ’ today? “  I need natural bread.”  “What is the use of preaching this Endtime Messageif I am not fina nced ?”  “ I am being rid iculed for the Truth .” An d awayth ey go, back t o th eir ‘homelands ’ like “a dog returneth to his vom it ”.

An d when Esa u los t h is b less in g to Ja cob, did h e not seek to s layJ acob? (Gen.27 :41).

Now, J acob was a spiritual person. He kn ew what th e bir thrightm ean t. All th e PROMISES and BLESS INGS were atta ched to it . His

h eart was s et u pon obtaining it . And when h e got it , he h eld on to itu n til th e PROMISES a n d BLESSINGS cam e. So, ough t n ot we, whopossess the birthright TOKEN for this hou r, do the s am e?

PARADOX

Elect does no t persecute the elect . It is true.   But not ice a  p a r a d o x . Weren ’t Esau and J acob   re la ted  ? Weren ’t th ey from th e s a m e w o m b ? Weren ’t th ey of th e  s a m e f a t h e r  — bear ing the sam e  s u r n a m e? If so , why did Esau persecute J acob?

Nat u rally, th e an swer lies in t h e  s e rpen t ine na ture in Esa u. AsI have mentioned, ‘religion ’ has a lways been the main cause of  bloodsh ed. Hence, as the religious Cain had spurned the Grace of  God and killed spiritual Abel, the religious Esau had a lso desp ised

his birthright, lost his blessing and finding  “no p lace of repen tance, though h e s ought it carefully w ith tears ” (Heb.12 :17), he s ou ght t o killspiritual Jacob .

Bu t the Chu rch is SPIRITUAL, n ot n atu ral. Th e ‘ Esaus ’ in thechurch a re not s piritua l. They ar e only religious . Th ey are the  ‘serpent s eeds ’! Like Esa u , they are tru ly sh owin g th at Mark o f Cain in th eirlives. Do I h a ve to say more?

Now, let’s see an other group of ‘elects’ th at persecu ted the e lectsin th eir gen erat ion.

THE PHARISEES, THE SADDUCEES & THE SCRIBES

All of us, Bible believers, know that the Oracles of God werecomm itted u n to Isr ael. Th e Oracles were th e cha n n els of Tru ththrough which true worship could be rendered unto the Lord God.

Bu t ever since th ey were given, m an y  false anointed ones had creptin in every generation to proclaim th ems elves a s p rophets an d leaders .All th ese sp ran g forth in th e na m e of worship.

In th e days of J esu s Ch ris t a nd His Apostles , the comm on p eoplewere led religiou sly in th eir wors h ip of God by th ree BIG RELIGIOUS

ORGANISATIONS or DENOMINATIONS of ‘Rabbis ’ — th e Pharisees , theSadducees a n d t h e Scribes . All th ose grou ps of religiou s people

claimed that they believed Abraham, Moses and all the prophets —

th e Old Testa m en t gospel. Yet when th e Gospel, in troduced byJ ohn the Bapt is t , cam e among them, they ridiculed   Christ and His

m esse nger. As religious as th ey were, th ose people were n ot even t h e

least spiritual to recognise th e hou r of th eir visitation.

Read the New Testament Gospel Books and you can see that

those Rabbis were INTELLECTUAL people. Th ey were scholars , and

very traditional. Th ey wou ld confron t an yon e wh o was opposed to

th eir t rad it ions or views. For that reas on, they con fronted J ohn th eBapt is t , an d th e Lord J esus m an y t imes .

Bein g wh at th ey were, they dres sed the ms elves differen tly fromthe common people . That was an outward show of themselvesin public that people would call them ‘Rabbi’. The Lord J esu scalled them “w hited sep ulchers, w hich indee d a ppe ar BEAUTIFULOUTWARD, but a re w ithin full of de ad m en ’s bones, and of all

THE MARK OF THE BEAST

“ And I beheld  another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had

two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

And he exerciseth all the power of the  first beast before him, and

causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first

beast , whose deadly wound was healed.

And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from

heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of thosemiracles which he had power to do in the sight of  the beast; saying

to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to

the beast , which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast , that the

image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as

would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond,

to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads;

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark , or the

name of the beast , or the number of his name. Here is wisdom, let him that hath understanding count the number

of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six
