tracert, arp, tcpdump, whois, host, netsat, nslookup, ftp, telnet

etc... )

Dos windows

This is usually find in accessories folder or in the program tree when you click the start button from the task bar.

This will open the window similar to the show in the image. You enter DOS commands here followed by pressing enter button. The result are displayed in the same window.

1.Ipconfig command :-

Here in our DOS windows, again start after the cmmdpromt> we type in ipconfig and press enter.

This then return all the information about the configuration of the pc. This is the great as providing the pc is working on the network and has to access the internet, we have a lot of information needed foe setting ip.

The ip address is one for this pc so our camera will be set to different one.

Release in ipconfig :-

This option terminates any active TCP/IP connection on network adapters and release those ip address for use by other application.

‘ipcofig/release’ can be used with specific windows connection names. In this case, the command will affect only the specified connections and not at all.

The commands accepts either full connections name or wildcards names.

This option restablish the TCP/IP connection on all network adapters. As with the release option, ipcofig / renew an optional connections name specifiers.

2.Ping command :-

The ping command is commad prompt command used to test the ability of the source computer to reach a specified detination computer.

The ping command is usually used as a simple way verify that computer can communicate over the network with another computer to network devices.

Ping wih IP address :-

The resulting display show that the command was successful and the IP address that we pinged was reachable and returned the response time from device as show.

If you can’t use the ping command from your computer because of firewall or other restriction, or want to do an internet ping from another location than your own, you can use only one of the following websites that online ping services.

3.ARP (Address resolution protocol) command :-

It display and modify the IP-to-physical address translation tables used by address resolution protocol.

ARP with -a & -g

This will return a table showing all the ip connected IP cameras and other IP devices with their IP address MAC (physical address) and whether they are static or dynamic address.

NSLookup command is a network administration command tool available for many computers operating systems for querying the domain name system to obtain name or IP address mapping others for any other specific DNS record.

The netstat command is a cmd used to display very detailed information about how your computer is communicating with other computer or network devices.

-s: the –s command can be used with the command to show detailed statistics by protocol. You can limit the statistics shown be a particular protocol by using the –s option and specifying that protocol, but b sure to use –s before –p protocol when using the switches together.

Tracert is a command which can you show you the path a packet of information takes from your computer to one you specify. It wil list all the routers it passes through until it reaches its destination or fails to and it discarded. In addition to this, it will tell you how long each ‘hop’ from router to router takes.

7.HOSTNAME COMMAND:-

The hostname command if used to show or set a computer’s hostname and domain name. It is one of the most basic of the network administrative utilities.

A host name is a name that is assigned to a host (i.e., a computer connected to the network) that uniquely identifies it on a network and thus allow it to be addressed without using its full IP address. Domain names are user-friendly substitutes for numeric IP address.

The basic syntax: Hostname[option][new_host_name]

1. Control Panel ->Programs & features ->Turns Windows features on or off ->Simple network Management Protocol ->Telnet Client & Telnet Server (Click on Checkbox) and then click ok.

2. Start ->Services ->Telnet(Right click) -> Telnet Properties ->Startup Type (Automatically) and then Apply -> Start and then OK
