What makes a great amplifier?

T he world has seen many good amplifiers, but fewachieve greatness. What sets these elite few apart

from all the others? The answer is simple: A careful synthesis of unrivaled sonic performance combined with rock-solid dependability.

While the definition of a great amplifier may be simple, delivering on those requirements is not. This is what has always set Crown® amplifiers apart from the others:Crown delivers.

From the slightest nuances in the tremolo of a flute to the chest pounding bass of a rock ’n’ roll kickdrum to the harmonic rich vocals of a jazzsinger, Crown delivers. Crown amplifiersare renowned for their ability to accuratelyamplify anything audio—with unmatchedpower and accuracy—night after nightwithout fail.

For decades, the formula for creatinggreat amplifiers has been the same atCrown: An insightful combination ofgenetics, breakthrough technologies, craftsmanship, and passion. This formula, proven over and over, has produced a lineageof great amplifiers: DC-300, PSA-2, Micro-Tech®,Macro-Tech®, Studio ReferenceTM, K, and CTs: Eachamplifier great in its time, and each raising the standardfor high performance. Once again, this formula forgreatness has delivered on its promise: I-Tech, theworld’s next great amplifier, and the pinnacle of Crown’s50-year history of innovation.

The following pages convey with words and pictures the essence of I-Tech and why it is destined to be thegreatest amplifier ever. But words and pictures cannotconvey what can only be experienced. We challenge you to read on, arrange for a demonstra-tion, and prepare to have yourexpectations for a great ampli-fier redefined.

GENETICS. The wealth of experience, knowledge and history that are the essential foundation for all Crown amplifiers.

For decades, Crown has developed industry-defining amplifiers for professional audio. Each new generation of Crown amplifiers has leveraged the technological advances that made its predecessors great, then improved upon them. This is what continues to enable Crown to create great amplifiers, and it is the very DNA of I-Tech.

BREAKTHROUGH TECHNOLOGIES.Revolutionary technological advances, not justclever marketing spin.

Building on a legacy of more than 20 U.S.patents for innovative circuitry (far more than any other amplifier manufacturer), Crown

continues to lead the way with I-Tech. I-Tech willredefine your expectations for high performance,

incorporating more breakthrough technologies per cubic inch than any other amplifier, ever.

CRAFTSMANSHIP.Producing the world’sgreatest amplifiers withpride and commitmentto quality.

From the careful selection of chassismaterials and construc-tion processes, to theadoption of the latest in x-rayand photo-robotic circuit board testing, each I-Tech amplifier

is painstakingly crafted to perform to the highest standards.

The anatomy of I-Tech. Built from the inside out to deliver.

1 Class-I - Interleave Technology

I-Tech’s patented Interleave switch-modedesign delivers a solid combination of high output power and a smaller, lighter weightpackage. Officially designated “Class-I,” thisbreak-through technology provides a clearadvantage over conventional amplifier (ClassD) models by providing lower distortion, highervoltage, higher power, and greater reliability.

2 Industry’s Highest Output Voltage

Today’s high-performance loudspeakers needadditional voltage drive to really come alive. I-Tech features the highest output-voltagecapability of any professional amplifier.

3 Regulated Switch-Mode Power Supply

An all-new, ground-breaking power supplyforms the heart of the I-Tech Series. Crown’sregulated switch-mode power supply deliversfull power regardless of mains voltage: from120 to 277 volts, and from 50 to 60 Hz.

4 PFC (Power Factor Correction)

Crown’s innovative PFC technology allows I-Tech to draw current from the mains in amore controlled and efficient way than non-PFC amplifiers, providing massive amountsof power from a single 20 amp breaker.

5 Digital Audio Inputs (AES/EBU - CobraNetTM)

I-Tech amplifiers feature digital audio inputsfor exceptional audio quality. With AES/EBUinputs (standard) or optional CobraNet inputon CN models (coming soon), I-Tech providesyour choice of today’s most widely accepteddigital audio formats.

6 Light Weight

I-Tech packs a lot of power in a small butrugged, 2U package. Weighing in at less than28 lbs. (12.7 kg), I-Tech delivers unmatchedpower for its weight class, far outpacing thecompetition in watts/pound.

Integrated Networking

IQ® Network provides the most powerful amplifier control and monitoring available, and it’s tightly integrated into I-Tech. I-Tech amps connect directly to IQ Networks, providing Crown’s legendary IQ control over industry-standard Ethernet hardware. Using mature, off-the-shelf technology, Crown’s TCP/IQTM protocol ensures reliable, easy to implement, and inexpensive network connectivity.

CobraNet digital audio options are available with Crown’s proprietary “one-click” solution that integrates both TCP/IQ and CobraNet digitalaudio with a single network connection.
