Austin Lumberjack basketball team will try to bounce back from its Southland-opening loss at Southeastern Louisiana with a home game against Central Arkansas. The Lumberjacks bring a 9-4 overall record to Wednesday’s showdown. SFA is 8-0 at home this season. Central Arkan- sas comes in with a 4-10 record after opening Southland play with a home loss to Lamar over the weekend. LAST GAME: SFA posted its worst shooting percentage of the year Saturday in a Southland-opening 64-54 loss at Southeastern Louisiana. The Lumberjacks shot just 35 percent from the field and went 3-of-15 from 3-point range, while the Lions connected on 47 percent overall and hit six 3-point attempts. Trent Hutchin went 5-for-9 from distance to lead Southeastern with 19 points. Junior center Jereal Scott scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting to lead the Lumberjacks. Jordan Glynn added 10 rebounds, butAntonio Bostic’s 11 points marked SFA’s only double-figure scorer besides Scott. The ’Jacks committed 15 turnovers to 14 for Southeastern, just the second time this season for SFA to post a negative figure in turnover mar- gin. THE BEARS: Central Arkansas has lost four of its last five games and eight of its last 10. The only wins in that stretch were an 81-67 home verdict over Lyon College on Dec. 21 and an 85-73 win against Chicago State in the Etech Lumberjack Clas- sic. The Bears average nearly 73 points per game. Imad Qahwash leads UCA in scoring with 13 points per game. vs. CENTRAL ARKANSAS: SFA is 6-0, all-time, against the Bears. Last year’s five-point win in Conway was the narrowest margin in the series history. In three meetings in Nacogdoches, the ’Jacks have won by an average of 17 points per game. SFA has held the Bears below 50 points four times, including each of the last three meetings. COVERAGE: Wednesday’s game will be streamed live online via SFA All-Access at SFAJacks.com. Live stats will also be provided via GameTracker on SFAJacks.com. UP NEXT: SFA will take on its first Southland West Division opponent of the year when the ’Jacks travel to San Antonio Saturday to take on UTSA. The game against the Roadrunners is set for a 7 p.m. tip.
