14 Principles for excellent Speaker

Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib stated 14 principles for

speakers and 14 for the listeners in the year 1626 at

Sri Amritsar Sahib .

Those who will listen , follow and apply these

principles in daily life will definitely get extensive

awareness on various portfolios and will learn to

live his life with eternal pleasure.

If speaker is very firm on his sayings that is if he

walk on his talk. Naturally, there will be massive

effect on the listener.

1First most factor is the accent of voice should be

proportional to the number of listeners sitting in the

hall , where lecture is delivered.

Speaker must be maintain the quality in tone of

speaking.

2Speaker must be able to elaborate and conclude his topic

very well. The same could be examined by facial

expressions of the attendees.

3Third feature is that he must be able to explain the facts,

figures, graphs, histograph and related text by using

recent research and examples from day today life .

4Sweetness in the voice of the speaker is quiet

important. Speaker must welcome the questions from

spectators and answer them correctly with full potential.

5Speaker must be true on each and every fact . He must

be able to elucidate the mechanism and must be able to

clarify the core of the title. The truthful nature of speaker

leads him to success , blissfulness, prosperity etc.

6Clarification of doubts of listeners is the sixth factor.

Speaker must understand that how listener will be

satisfied by profound elucidation or by concise answers.

Speaker can give examples related to topic when

required.

7Speaker must have read related text books, research

papers, met scholars of related field and must be in touch

with latest update in his specialization to get cavernous

knowledge .

8He must not be diffracted from the title of subject, if it

happens listeners will lose their interest in lecture, which

may lead to decline in confidence of speaker.

9Sober and gentle body language is one of the most

important factor for a speaker as posture must not

distract onlooker, as listeners may skip the part which you

were clearing up at that time.

10A good speaker can gain interest of the listeners by

keeping them happy. Speaker must win the hearts of

listeners, that can only be done by making clarifications

of their doubts, interactions with spectators and

maintaining quality in his lecture.

11Making an eye contact with the listeners is compulsory

for speaker. As by maintaining such a decorum, listeners

remain in physical & mental presence.

12Speaker must not be swollen with pride(proudly), He

must keep his mind down to earth and must remember

“I am not even a drop of water in the oceans of this

knowledge made by almighty”.

14Speaker must be satisfied with what he has with him.

14 Principles for Excellent Listener

1Listener must be a strong believer with mind, speaking

and actions of the speaker.

Listener must not be swollen with pride(proudly), he must

keep his mind down to earth. He should attend lecture by

sake of learning inspite of the fact he knows better than

speaker. This can be attained by selfless service of

teacher.

3Listener should not fed up easily and must try to

maintain with the tone of speaker.

Listener must be intelligent enough to gain the saying of

speaker. He must be a patient listener.

5Listener must be able to understand the meaning of what

speaker recites. Former must be intelligent enough to

make different meaning of the same line.

Listener must question the speaker in very intelligent

way. Listener must question relevant to the subject

chosen by the speaker.

7To be a good listener ,he must have read knowledgeable

research papers, books etc.

Listener must not be lazy to gain the sayings of a speaker

but efficient enough to understand the lecture recited by

the speaker in more efficient way. He should be able to

perform the task when he is called for.

9Listener must not be affectionate to sleeping.

Listener must try to maintain the concept and

mechanism of sayings in nutshell of the speaker. Which

he can further elaborate while studying the same.

11Sharing ability- Listener must share the things with

others what he has learnt from the speaker, as when he

shares, enhances to his own knowledge.

Listener must follow the instructions of his teachers, as

the same can provide him with best of the knowledge.

13Listener must keep himself hygienic by physically &

spiritually.

Listener must not be imposter/hypocrite but must have

the feeling to gain from the speaker.
