NOTICE OF PARISH VOTE

REVOCATION OF THE ST. PAUL’S TRUST

Notice is hereby given that a Parish vote will be held after each Mass on Saturday, June 16, 2018 and Sunday, June 17, 2018 to vote on the revocation of the St. Paul’s Trust. An affirmative vote of 51% of those qualified to vote and voting at each Mass is required to approve revocation of the St. Paul’s Trust. If revocation is approved, then all assets of the St. Paul’s Trust will be transferred to the general fund of St. Paul’s Parish. To be a qualified voter you must: (1) be at least eighteen years of age; and (2) have attended Mass at St. Paul’s Parish once per weekend for at least fifty percent of the weekends over the past year (twenty-seven times over the past year). This notice will be published until the vote, resulting in publication for more than two weeks prior to the vote. Please contact Fr. Basil if you have any questions about whether you qualify to vote.

Por la presente se da aviso de que se realizará una votación en la Parroquia después de cada Misa el sábado 16 de junio de 2018 y el domingo 17 de junio de 2018 para votar sobre la revocación de la Fundación de San Pablo. Se requiere un voto afirmativo del 51% de los calificados para votar y votar en cada misa para aprobar la revocación del St. Paul's Trust. Si se aprueba la revocación, todos los activos de St. Paul's Trust se transferirán al fondo general de St. Paul's Parish. Dear Fellow Parishioners of Saint Paul’s, Thank you for this opportunity to offer you a brief introduction as I begin work here at Saint Paul Catholic Church! I grew up in Dallas, Oregon, and attended Western Oregon University and Oregon State University, completing an MA in English. While living in Corvallis, I became a Catholic through St. Mary Catholic Church and the Newman Center. Since moving to the Mount Angel and Silverton area in 2002, I earned an MA in Theology from Mount Angel Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry through the Graduate Theological Foundation. Much of my theological studies have focused on iconography, and as a student of the Iconographic Arts Institute, I am working toward a Certificate in Iconographic Arts. I have been a parishioner here at Saint Paul’s since 2016. I have served as a teacher and retreat leader for over eighteen years, and this spring I concluded eight years as a member of the faculty of Mount Angel Seminary, where I taught English and religious studies. I am now very pleased to begin serving this community as the pastoral associate and director of religious education, and in the weeks and months to come, I look forward to meeting and learning more about all and each of you. Queridos Compañeros feligreses de San Pablo, ¡Gracias por esta oportunidad de ofrecerles una breve introducción cuando comienzo a trabajar aquí en la Iglesia Católica de Saint Paul! Crecí en Dallas, Oregon, y asistí a Western Oregon University y Oregon State University, completando un MA en inglés. Mientras vivía en Corvallis, me convertí en católico a través de la Iglesia Católica de Santa María y el Centro Newman. Desde que me mudé al área de Mount Angel y Silverton en 2002, obtuve una Maestría en Teología en el Seminario Mount Angel y un Doctorado en Ministerio a través de la Graduate Theological Foundation. Gran parte de mis estudios teológicos se han centrado en la iconografía, y como estudiante del Instituto de Artes Iconográficas, estoy trabajando para obtener un Certificado en Artes Iconográficas. On June 30 and July 1 St. Paul’s will be bidding “Goodbye” to Father Basil and welcoming our new Priest, Father Tetsel Umingli.

There will be three opportunities for parish members to bid farewell and greet!

Join us on…

Saturday, June 30 at 6pm in the Parish Hall for appetizers and wine (adults) or ice cream, and cookies (children)

Sunday July 1, 9 am in the Parish Hall for breakfast pastries, fruit and coffee. Sunday July 1, 11 am in the Hall for homemade pastries, Mexican pastries, fruit, coffee &

juice.

This is everyone’s opportunity to give Father Basil a warm THANK YOU for his ministry here the past three years and helping us to finally have the Narthex we have been waiting for! Let’s all give

him a memorable send-off for his next assignment as a Navy Chaplain in September.

This is also a great opportunity to welcome Father Tetzel Umingli as our new Parish Administrator. He is a priest of the Archdiocese of Portland, and a graduate of Mount Angel

Seminary. His most recent parish assignment has been at St. Anne Parish in Grants Pass.

These events are brought to us through the generosity of St. Paul Women’s Group and our Hispanic Community.
