With its small dimensions, the new Greenstar CDi Compact has been designed so that
all important components within the boiler that need to be adjusted during both the
installation and future servicing are easily accessible from the front or side of the unit.
New Greenstar CDi Compact design improvementsWall mounting jig – This innovative feature provides the ability to pre-plumb all seven
boiler connections (condensate, CH flow, DHW outlet, gas, DCW inlet, PRV installer
connection and CH return) during installation. Made of solid steel, the jig provides
quick and easy hanging positions at the top and bottom of the boiler.
Expansion vessel – The expansion vessel, located within the wall mounted jig, has a
simple ‘drop lock’ mechanism that provides a reliable connection and eliminates the
need for a flexible hose, making it easier to both site and install.
Siphon – This is located at the front of the secondary DHW plate heat exchanger for easy
maintenance and to allow pre-warming of the condensate before it is released from the
boiler. Also, the siphon features a double seal to add additional security during installation
and servicing.
Electrical connections – Has been designed so it can be accessed from the front of
the boiler when the removable section of the fascia is down. The wiring connectors are
colour-coded and can be removed and wired for a simple connection during installation.
Secondary DHW plate heat exchanger – A single screw removal device and hinge
operation allows for an easy removal and re-insertion of the plate heat exchanger
during service.
Pressure relief valve – The pressure relief valve has been positioned with front access
on the hydraulic unit.
Established features – The isolating valve and mounting bracket are identically placed
and sized to all other Worcester Greenstar gas combi boilers. The boiler is supplied with
the Worcester in-built filling link that is installed neatly within the boiler cabinet, forming
part of an integrated re-pressurising system.

†Terms and conditions apply. * The friction stir welding process is used under license from The Welding Institute.
Innovation at its best – the new WB7 heat exchanger
Aeroplane wings, cryogenic fuel tanks, military and scientific rockets.
Marine panels for decks, hulls and helicopter landing platforms.
Wheel rims and motor cycle frames. High speed trains and underground carriages.
What is friction stir welding?
• Friction stir welding is a solid-state joining process where metal is not
melted, but softened. In this process no additional material is added
to form a joint. Instead, the two plates are stirred together forming a
weld line, which gives improved quality, reliability and performance
to the component.
• The frictional heat is generated along the weld line by a rotating
welding tool.
• The heat generated by the mechanical mixing process causes the
stirred metals to soften, allowing for an easy navigation along the
weld lines that, in its crystallized state, forms the weld.
Why use friction stir welding?
• Friction stir welding provides the ability to manufacture a compact
designed heat exchanger which, in turn, reduces the size of the boiler,
giving greater flexibility to both the installer and homeowner.
• It improves reliability as the welding method eliminates the risk
of potential weak points and stress fractures occurring.
• It is also environmentally-friendly, reducing the amount of
raw materials used.
How is the WB7 heat exchanger manufactured?
• The casting process begins with the joining together of four aluminium
panels, under high pressure, using friction stir welding technology.
• This is followed by a four-sided machining process, ensuring optimum
production efficiency.
• The machined heat exchanger is then assembled and 100% tested
before being transformed into a WB7 heat exchanger.
You can view a video of the friction stir welding process by visiting www.worcester-bosch.co.uk/stir-welding-video
The WB7 heat exchanger fitted within the CDi Compact has been
purpose-designed and manufactured by Bosch Thermotechnology Ltd.
By utilising an innovative friction stir welding process*, improved
reliability, efficiency and domestic hot water flow rates of up to
14.7l/min can be achieved.
This unique friction stir welding process provides the heat exchanger
with added strength and durability due to this stronger welding method.
For the homeowner this provides greater peace of mind, which is further
strengthened by a 10 year guarantee on the WB7 heat exchanger.†
Worcester is the first UK heating manufacturer to use friction stir welding for continuous large quantity production. A signal of our commitment to continue to be the class leader in quality, reliability and innovation.

Easy-to-use, cutting edge in-built displayThe Greenstar CDi Compact has a new in-built boiler display, to give both the installer and
homeowner a vast range of features that allow the heating system to be as efficient and
flexible as possible.
Easy to read and monitor – The large screen means system parameters such as hot
water flow rate and heating flow and return temperature can be easily set up by the installer
during commissioning.
Maximum set temperature – While it is easy to observe and adjust the temperature to suit
individual requirements, the screen menu also allows the ability to set a maximum temperature
for the boiler. Once set, the maximum temperature cannot be overridden no matter how much
the dial is turned – improving the overall efficiency of the boiler.
Testing mode – The simple-to-use engineers menu can automatically check the operations of
various boiler components, without the need to remove the boiler front cover. Any problems can
be easily recognised with diagnostic codes narrowing the potential causes of the problem.
Combi pre-heat mode – With the domestic hot water combi pre-heat accessory fitted,
the CDi Compact can accept pre-heated water up to 60°C from a secondary source such
as Greenskies solar thermal.
ECO mode – When set to ECO mode, the CDi Compact will use less gas or LPG, as the energy
will only be used on demand, allowing for energy-saving fuel consumption.
Comfort mode – All Greenstar combi boilers have an in-built ‘keep hot’ or ‘pre-heat’ facility
which will keep the primary water within the heat cell hot. This ensures that hot water is
delivered instantaneously to an opened outlet.
Optional plug-in controls – With front access easy wiring, the Greenstar CDi Compact is
also compatible with all Worcester on/off and intelligent controls options. Third party heating
controls may also be used.
Our Greenstar boilers are subjected to 20,000 electromagnetic surges at up to 3,000 volts to ensure they can perform in the event of exceptional power surges.

1. Wall mounting jigThe innovative jig is unique to the industry and allows
the installer to pre-plumb all the boiler connections
during installation, including; condensate, CH flow,
DHW outlet, gas, DCW inlet, PRV installer connection
and CH return. Included is a drop-lock expansion
vessel which can be simply seated onto the hydraulic
unit. This direct connection removes any risk of the
expansion vessel hose becoming kinked or trapped
during installation and servicing.
2. Hydraulic unitNext to the fully modulating pump, which reduces
both electrical consumption and is quieter in
operation, is the new design double-sealed
siphon which is located in front of the secondary
heat exchanger for additional pre-warmth of the
condensate. Within the hydraulic unit, the pressure
relief valve has been located to the front of the
boiler for ease of access, while an integral filling
link is included in the boiler as standard.
3. WB7 heat exchangerThe compact WB7 heat exchanger is a key reason for
the CDi Compact‘s ability to be fitted in a standard-sized
kitchen cupboard. Due to the innovative friction stir welding
process, the WB7 can offer a greater surface area and

The Worcester control series
As part of the Bosch Group, Worcester is committed to new product development, economical use of heating
systems and environmental protection. As part of this commitment Worcester has a range of intelligent heating
controls designed to enhance the integral efficiency of our Greenstar CDi Combi range.
Why invest in intelligent controls?More efficient heating system – The operating efficiency of a condensing boiler can be increased when
combined with the correct controls*.
Regulations and best practice – In addition to the end users’ requirements, there are also current and future
regulatory influences on the control of heating.
For new and replacement boiler installations you must have either: a timer or programmer with a room thermostat
and thermostatic radiator valves or a programmable room thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves.
What heating and hot water control options does Worcester offer?Mechanical timers – Simple to operate and offer the minimum features needed, these include our MT10
and MT10RF controllers. Basic mechanical timers control the times for your heating only. The ‘teeth’ on the
mechanical dial are used to control 15 minute periods and the heating pattern set will be the same every day.
Digital timers and programmers – Worcester DT10RF, TD200 text display and RT10 room thermostat offer
greater flexibility in controlling heating and hot water. Digital timers, programmers and programmable room
thermostats provide more options. As a general rule, the controls can program different patterns for different
days of the week which can be particularly useful for weekends.
Intelligent controls – Achieve the greatest efficiency from the boiler. These include the FR10 Intelligent Room

Worcester’s innovative heating and hot water
product range is designed for the needs of
today’s home. In addition to combi boilers,
the Greenstar gas-fired range also features
Regular and System models.
Greenstar oil-fired condensing boilersWorcester also manufactures a range of high-
efficiency oil-fired Greenstar boilers. Our oil
manufacturing heritage stretches back to the
foundation of the company in 1962 and like all
our Greenstar gas combi boilers, our range
of oil-fired boilers is recommended by the
Energy Saving Trust, and runs at 90% efficiency
(SEDBUK 2005 rating) or over.
Greenskies solar thermal water heatingWorcester’s Greenskies solar thermal evacuated
tubes and flat plate panels are capable of providing
up to 60%* of a home’s hot water requirements. The
panels are designed to link into any existing heating
system that uses a cylinder, using even diffused
sunlight to covert energy into heat and produce hot
water for the home.
Greenstore ground source heat pumpsGreenstore ground source heat pumps harness the
energy stored in the earth to provide heating and
hot water for the home. For every single kilowatt of
electricity used to power the ground source heat
pump, the system can generate four kilowatts of
energy for the home. Not only that, but the system is
designed to be the sole heating source in the home.
Greensource air source heat pumpsGreensource air source heat pumps gather energy
from the air and transfer it into low cost heating
and hot water for the home. Worcester’s range of
air source heat pumps can offer a choice of three
systems: air to air, air to water and split air to water,
each offering significant savings compared with a
conventional heating system.
Greenfloor heatingGreenfloor heating is designed to deliver highly
efficient heating, as well as being an ideal partner
to heat pumps and condensing boilers. Underfloor
heating is suitable for refurbishments and new build
properties and distributes heat evenly for optimum
user comfort.
Even more ways of providing heating and hot water comfort

Worcester has always placed great emphasis on technical support and training for professional installers and
service engineers. For more than 25 years, Worcester has offered first-class training in the UK. On average
Worcester train over 15,000 installers every year providing industry recognised training across four Training
Academies and over 150 colleges to ensure they receive the highest levels of expertise in the installation of
all Worcester products.
Why invest in training?Changing and updating technology – Over recent years, the face of the heating industry has changed
dramatically, with new technologies emerging alongside the more mainstream options. Hands-on training
with new technologies is a sure-fire way to keep up to speed with industry developments.
Keep up to date with legislation – With new technologies come new rules and regulations. Investing time
in legislative knowledge is as important as understanding the products themselves.
Diversify and expand your business – The diversity of products in today’s heating industry gives
you the opportunity to expand your expertise, whilst offering more choice to your customers.
Improving installation standards – Worcester understands that ‘Best Practice’ is what all installers
strive for. With the industry and its standards constantly evolving, attending training courses can help
keep you up-to-date with the latest requirements.
If you can’t get to a Worcester training course, we will come to you. Our mobile trainers run approximately 800 courses per year from the very north of Scotland to the southern tip of Cornwall and even the Isle of Man.

A Worcester Energy House family.
Environmental milestones1999 – Environment 2010 Installer Awards launched.
2007 – Launch of our free ‘Picture a Greener Future’
children’s book.
2007 – Worcester’s Energy Homes project began
to demonstrate that high efficiency boilers and
renewable technologies can help the environment
and reduce fuel bills.
2008 – Environment 2010 re-branded as Environment
2020 in line with the Government’s carbon reduction
targets for 2020. The Environment annual 2020 Awards
celebrate and promote awareness of energy efficiency
as well as activities which help the environment for
future generations. Awards are divided into four
categories: children’s art competition, product
installations, self-build projects and specifications.
2010 – Our ‘Zero-to-landfill’ pledge set a new
standard for the industry. Working with suppliers,
employees and the local community we achieved
100% recyclability for all our products.
2011 – Worcester wins an award for the investment
and commitment to sustainability. Worcester wins
Royal Horticultural Society gold medal at the Chelsea
Flower Show.
Environmental Responsibilities As part of the Bosch Group, corporate responsibility is an intrinsic part of our business
and this is demonstrated no more than in the commitment we have to being an
environmentally responsible manufacturer.
From detailed environmental policies, our Environment 2020 awards, Energy Homes
across the country and creating a children’s book aimed at educating future generations,
we are continually looking for new ways to minimise our impact on the planet.
Setting new standards for the industry, Worcester implemented a new business system
designed to effectively and efficiently recycle all its scrap appliances.
As committed to our social responsibilities as we are to our customers
Volunteering 50 work days to local charitiesIn addition to the dedication and care we take towards the
environment, Worcester also has a close relationship with local
charities around the Worcestershire and Derbyshire regions.
As part of our 50th year celebrations, our employees donated
over 50 work days to help local charities.
Worcester staff took time out of their normal jobs to do a variety
of tasks such as painting the facilities of Sight Concern or Acorns
Children’s Hospice, helping to build local wildlife areas and even
de-rusting and repainting at the Severn Valley Railway.
Raising almost £50,000 for local charitiesIn 2012, Worcester raised money for five local charities; St. Richards
Hospice, Acorns Children’s Hospice, WPCC (Worcestershire Parent
and Carers Council), Murray’s Muscles and Valley CIDS (Christians
in Developing Society).
Activities ranged from company-wide events such as the Walk of
Worcestershire where Worcester employees took part and raised
over £4,000, through to individual achievements such as Worcester’s
Managing Director and Customer Services Director taking part in a
53 mile endurance run to raise over £6,300.
