That’s . . . That!

Hope you’re having a great summer so far! I also hope that, if it’s been anything like mine has been, it slows down for you. On my way into church today I was thinking, “Finally summertime…and it’s already half over!” A long time ago—before memes and such—I received an e-mail, one of those that used to get forwarded a bunch. I don’t know the source (yes, I know God gave us the psalm—it’s the interpolations of which I speak) so I can’t give credit. In a way, during this week when we celebrate our nation’s independ-ence, this seems to be more of a declaration of total dependence! While you’re reading, think about what all this meant to our Lord Jesus—suffering and death on a cross, resurrection—and for those who follow, well, that’s that! Read and enjoy:

Psalm 23

The Lord is my Shepherd

That's Relationship!

I shall not want That's Supply!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures

That's rest!

He leadeth me beside the still waters That's Refreshment!

He restoreth my soul

That's Healing!

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness That's Guidance!

For His name sake That's Purpose!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

That's Testing!

I will fear no evil That's Protection!

For Thou art with me That's Faithfulness!

Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me

That's Discipline!

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies That's Hope!

Thou anointest my head with oil

That's Consecration!

My cup runneth over That's Abundance!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life

That's Blessing!

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord That's Security!

Forever.

That's Eternity!

The e-mail ended with “Face it, the Lord is crazy about you . . . What is most valuable is not what we have in our lives, but WHO we have in our lives!” As we celebrate freedom, think about the freedom He gives—because He has come into our lives. But remember also that we are totally dependent on Him and the gifts He gives. Come and celebrate our freedom to return to church and be to-gether as His people…and when you travel for vacation or wherever else it might be during the summer, remember to “be crazy” about God and find a house of worship to be in…wherever you are—and that’s that! Hey! God give you…

Peace!
