Wayside detection systems for Rolling stock• Wheel Impact Load Detection System

– An automated system for detection of excessive impact load due to wheel defects.

• As the Train passes over the instrumented rail, data is collected and sent to the system in real time.

• The data collected is tested, all extraneous noise removed and the pure raw data analysed.

–Monitor the condition of bogie by measuring lateral force, vertical force, angle of attack and tracking error

–Dragging equipment detector for detecting loosely hanging parts

•Sensors for detecting Hot boxes, Hot Wheels

–Use Infrared sensing techniques to identify

•Axle-boxes running hot due to bearing failure

•Wheels having abnormally high temperatures due to brake-binding.

ride-index & acceleration measured on vehicle floor near Centre Pivot

� Track Recording & OHE Maintenance Cars:� Track & OHE parameters recorded

can be correlated to the location using GPS.

� Rail Fracture Detection System:� Changes in Stress levels are sent
