During this time of uncertainty, we are thinking of new ways to do things. We have set up a prayer board in the foyer for people to send their requests in. As prayers are answered, we will move

them to an ‘answered prayer’ board.

AGM THIS SUNDAY…

Our church Annual General Meeting (AGM) is on this Sunday, at 12noon. We

will be opening up the church for anyone who would like to come along and

be part of the AGM in person. There will be some restrictions for us to abide

by, such as signing in people at the door, the need to remain in groups of no

more than 20 throughout the meeting, having no more than 92 people in total

in the auditorium, and keeping good hygiene and spacing practices; but we

feel that after such a long time apart from one another, this is a good

opportunity for those who are interested to come to the AGM and together

we can celebrate all that God has done over the last year. If you can’t make it

in person, the Youtube link to the meeting is

https://youtu.be/KWdC6E5x5AE

There will be the opportunity to vote after the AGM, and voting closes at 5pm

on Monday 15th June.

AGM 2020 June Motions

Please be advised that the AGM will take place on Sunday morning 14th June 2020. At that meeting, the Governance Team will be putting forward the following motions:

1 Timothy 3:2-7 2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

^ A separate summary sheet is provided with additional information on this motion. The 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 weekly budgeted offering amount of $17,000 is maintained for the first 5 months of the 2020/2021 financial period.

I was not brought up in the church and knew little about it until I gave my

heart to The Lord when I was 25. I went forward for an alter call in an

Assembly of God Church in Adelaide. Not long after the church split and I

started attending Hope Valley Uniting Church which is also in Adelaide. It was

there that I really grew and served in different areas such as young adults and

the worship team. I was baptised there and became a member. I moved up to

the Gold Coast in 2000 and attended Helensvale Baptist Church before going

overseas to study a Bachelor of Theology in 2004.

Part of my studies was to be active in ministry from my first year. I helped in a

local church plant with preaching, running Bible studies and assisting with

Sunday school. After seminary, I joined WEC International and served in Brazil

and Botswana for several years. In Brazil I taught English in the slum areas and

in Botswana I helped with a church plant, running youth groups, preaching,

teaching and discipling. I came back to the coast in 2012 and my wife Maria

and I have been attending Southport since 2013.

I have served with the welcome team and more recently with communion,

offering and now Home church. I really feel a calling from God to go deeper in

service within the church and would love the opportunity to be part of the

Governance Team to be able to pray for and with the leaders and learn from

them. I desire to grow in my faith more and serve the church in the best way I

can.
