IS IT TIME TO OVERCOME FEAR
AND BUILD THE BODY OF CHRIST?
Jesus said, “fear is useless, what is needed is trust.” And on many other occasions, he said, “Be Not Afraid, I go before you always.” But people are fearful these days in great part due the steady beat of the media drum incessantly pointing out the “bad news” of the latest grim statistics of the corona virus. Everyone rightly wants to be well and to take whatever actions may be necessary to safeguard the well being of all we love and care for. But at some point, don’t we have to turn this over to the care of the Lord? He has a plan for all of us. For me that plan included two ruptured quads and the corona virus. I would have liked to have had neither, but I did not choose to fall and I did not choose to contract Covid 19. To the best of my knowledge, at least thus far, very few members of St. Andrew’s can say without doubt that they picked up the virus while offering Mass here. Thanks be to God, most of our people have been spared including our most vulnerable members. I have to believe that is because we have been religiously observing public safety measures designed to protect all who choose to offer the Mass in person. This virus has to be communicated by a person who has been exposed to it and is projecting droplets via a cough or sneeze at a close distance between individuals not protected by face coverings. It may also be projected via conversation at close range for a duration of about 15 minutes. But no one can catch this virus from someone who doesn’t already have it. While giving all due attention to public safety, the work of being Christ’s church really needs to go on. That work must take place, live, in a three-dimensional world. This involves far more than watching livestream images over social media. We need to be connected to Christ and his church through the actual offering of the Sacrifice of Praise was call the Mass. May I simply encourage everyone to consider coming home to our sacred gathering space knowing that we are scrupulously following the Archbishop’s directives that are based on CDC guidelines. The church is sanitized before and after each Mass. Hand sanitizer is available for all communicants. People are seated at safe distances from each other and masks must be worn at least in and out of church. (Some people find they simply cannot breathe without removing their masks for a short time.) Hope to see you soon!

PREPARING FOR BAPTISM
SUNDAY, JULY 12th
1 PM in Room 4
We conduct this mandatory one session program for parents who are members of our parish planning to baptize a child for the very first time. First time godparents are also welcome, but participation is optional. There are other expectations of parents who are going to promise to raise their child in the faith of the Church. Following this class, parents must ordinarily contact Father Jack by phone or email at least 30 days before the date you are requesting to see if there may be any special circumstances in scheduling the actual baptism. Contact Ann Grover @ 259-8541 or [email protected] for more information or to register for the class.
Facebook Is A Social Media Platform That We May Use for The Greater Honor and Glory of God
At St. Andrew’s we don’t encourage the use of FB for the purpose of arguing or debating political and church beliefs. Rather, we make available both a public (accessible to anyone) and a group (accessible mainly to parishioners) page for the purpose of sharing announcements of events and programs and a place from which to Live stream some of our services. Any use which gives honor and glory to God is welcomed and encouraged.
This app is provided to us at no charge from the company that publishes our Sunday bulletins—Diocesan publications. It can be a great tool for locating the daily scripture readings, receiving messages from the parish, access to online giving, prayer requests, etc.

Intercessory prayers can be very helpful not only for those who are ill but for those who are caring for them. While we are all free to offer prayers for any intention, this particular prayer list is intended for those who have suffered a serious injury or who have fallen very ill. Our prayers can help to get them back on course. Please be sure to call the parish office to let us know when your loved one is on the mend.

With Ann Grover’s retirement, we are in search of a qualified parishioner to serve as a part-time Christian Formation Secretary. This position requires the customary office skills, especially the knowledge of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher) as well as learning other pieces of software we use day to day. This individual offers secretarial assistance to our Christian Formation Director and to our Youth Ministry Coordinators. A flair for editing our parish website would make candidates even more attractive. Must have good communication skills and an ability to work well with others as we seek to address ourselves to accomplishing the mission of the church.
ITEMS NEEDED THIS WEEK:
BREAD DRY BEANS GREEN BEANS
DRY MASHED POTATOES
THANKS FOR YOUR ONGOING
GENEROSITY!
We are so grateful to have our church open for Mass again. Please take note of the Archdiocese guidelines and do your part to help everyone feel safe when they come to Mass. Minimally, it is suggested that you wear your mask when you are entering and leaving the church. Keep at least six feet away from others. The Volunteer Ushers will help you to find a seat. Please do not climb over others. Wait until the Ushers dismiss your pew for Holy Communion and for exiting at the end of Mass. Thanks for your patience.
Welcome Home!
Evangelization & Discipleship
We still have a number of students that have not made their first confession and made arrangements to pick up their book for First Communion preparation. Please contact Tommie Tran 754-5309 or email at: [email protected] for help in doing so.
