9-15-17 Hello Wonderful Families, Wow, what a busy week. Lots of pictures up on Twitter of all the excitement and learning. Here are some things we explored this week in room 128! Reading Workshop: -Why do we buddy read? What should that look like and sound like? -Started our study of just right books. Ask your child how choosing a just right book is like finding shoes. -I met with each student and discussed books in their book bin thinking about, Do I have enough to read?, Do I have a variety of books?, and Do my books interest and excite me? -Next week I will begin reading groups! -Lulu and the Mysterious Mission read aloud Writing Workshop/Word Study: -Phonemes -Students created vowel tent and we used them to think about the beginning and middle vowel sound we hear in words. -We used mentor text to wrap up our study of illustrations and using pictures to help us write and think of ideas.

Hello Wonderful Families,

Wow, what a busy week. Lots of pictures up on Twitter of all the excitement and learning. Here are some things we explored this week in room 128!

Math Workshop:-Worked through rich tasks (problems with multiple answers and pathways to those answers) to practice how mathematicians collaborate and record and show their thinking.-Worked with Mrs. Farris, our Numeracy Coach to learn about openers at the beginning of workshop time. Ask your student about ‘quick images’.-Students learned how to access Moby Max and Tenmarks and had some time to explore these two sites.

Content : -Finished classroom community projects-Kindness-Ask your child how they were a “bucket filler” today

Other:-Started STEAM tubs during morning routine on Tuesdays and Thursdays (other days we work on math skills, handwriting, or high frequency words during morning work).-Dot Day
