5. MRIGASHIRA NAKSHATRA

Warm and hearty greet-ings of ‘Ugadi’, the new year. It marks the begin-ning of rejuvenation of na-ture and revitalization of its energies and strength. Eve-ry year Ugadi comes and it keeps on bringing new en-thusiasm and novelty. We enjoy seeing nature wear-ing a new look, the vigor and beauty of greenery around us. We celebrate Ugadi with great pomp and enthusiasm and perform worship with devotion. We eat neem buds and joggery to remind ourselves that life is a mixture of bitter and sweet experiences. We have to accept all such ex-periences alike and retain our hopefulness happily. It is also an occasion to look back and view the achieve-ments and make plans for the next year. The retro-spection of how we have fared will help us to plan for the next year.

The SSK Times has been publishing the series of ar-ticles on the history of our forefathers. Every member of the clan has to know his roots and derive inspiration. The knowledge of our histo-ry together with the history of India will make us strong individuals. Kshatriyas had been the great rulers, the visionaries of happy man-kind and had built great empires which excelled in their achievements in all the fields of life. The con-tribution of our forefathers should help us to regain our inner strength. Our ances-tors strove hard to build such empires where hu-manity bloomed fully; hu-manity developed its out-look on sound moral and spiritual principles; mate-rial life became happy; fine arts developed Spiritual at-tainments galored. In man-ufacture, India excelled on various fronts.

Thus, India with its abundant wealth attracted the foreigners and the in-vaders who rushed to be-come wealthy in India and conquered the country. The foreign rule eclipsed our vision, weakened our strength and vitality and cut-off our links with our glorious past.

The Freedom Movement that began towards the end of nineteenth century and gained momentum in the early twentieth century served us as an eye-opener. The educational system in-troduced by the British had put us in a very disadvanta-geous position. It was not a man-making education. It was merely and entirely a negative education. A negative education or any training based on negation is worse than death.

A nation that has no his-tory of its own has noth-ing in this world. Out of the past is built the future. Look back, therefore as far as you can, drink deep of the eternal foundations that are behind and after that look forward, march forward and make India brighter, greater and much high higher than she ever was. Our ancestors were the builders of our na-tion. They were rulers who looked after the entire com-munity. The more we study the past, the more glorious will be our future. The mar-velous spiritual inheritance of our race is what a com-plete world-civilization is waiting for. Our ancestors were great. We must recall that.

Let the new year bring in us a thorough change backed by the vision of our glorious past.

Sarve janah sukhino bhavantu; Shubha Mastu

In Hindu astronomy, Mrigashira is the 5th star. It is ranging from 53-20 and 66-40. It is a cluster of three stars which look like deer’s head. This nakshatra’s

1,2 padas come under Vrushab rashi, 3, 4th

time of Samudra Manthan is the presiding god of Mrigashira. The people born in this nakshatra will have amiable and lovely qualities of mind.

Mrigashira is considered as maha nakshatra (The Great Star). The bride and bride-grooms born in this nakshatra need not have to tally their kun-dalis. So is said in the muhurth shastra. Such of the bride and bridegrooms can marry without having to look for the Guna-kootas and they are said not to worry about eknadi and rakshas gana doshas.

Mrigashira nakshatra is best for good deeds.

Mrigashirians will be active, they usually perform rituals like homa hawanas, they organize

people, and they will be rich, popular. They are fickle minded and fearful too.

People born in this nakshatra can undertake the trade and business of woolen and cotton, brass, real estate and automo-bile spare parts. They can have prosperity in the businesses of jewellery, animal husbandary, film industry, fruits and flowers, cosmetics.

The people born in this nak-shatra will have the birth names starting with 1 at pada – ve, 2nd pada – vo, 3rd pada- ka, 4th pada – kee.

Mrigashirians can undertake trade and business, money lending profitably as the stars associated are Aridra, Swati and Shatatara which are wealth stars. Those born in the Push-ya, Anuradha and Uttarabhad-

rapada can undertake farewell works as these stars are fare-well stars.

The Maga, Moola and Ash-wini stars are considered as achiever-stars. The individu-als can undertake novel enter-prises and contact works of the big factories and companies and challenging works.

Kruthika, Uttarashadh stars are the friendly stars.

Rohini, Hasta and Shravana stars are stars of intimacy, so people with these stars can undertake partnership enter-prises, money lending business with those having these very stars.

Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil nadu regions in the past have witnessed the rule of renowned dynasties belonging to the Somavamsha Sa-hasrarjuna Kshatriya. These rul-ers have contributed substantially to our culture. They built artistic temples and have left inscriptions.

Their contributions to the field of literature, music, dance and medicine (Ayurveda) are in good measure and worthy of appre-ciation. Unfortunately our people have remained ignorant of our rich past and it is time that we should begin our search for our roots in the past. The great contributions made by our distant elders, their wonderful accomplishments will help us to know our rich past and draw inspirations from their deeds and enhance our sense of pride. An awareness of our racial supremacy will surely help us to enhance our self-esteem and will inspire us to undertake great and challenging enterprises.

We belong to the lineage of So-mavamsha Sahasrarjuna ances-try. Let us have a peep into the temples built by Somavamsha dynasties. There is a temple of soma in Gadag (Karnataka). This is known as someshwara temple (karedevara gudi – temple of black

stones). Our ancestors, the kings of Kalyani Chalukya Dynasty have built this temple. This temple is beautiful and is known for its archi-tectural grandeur. The God Shree Somesh-wara is the kuldevata of Somavamsha Sa-hasrarjuna Kshatriyas. There is a temple of So-meshwara in Laxmesh-wara, a town in Gadag district. The rare idol of Someshwara seated on Nandi is seen there. We have the tem-ples of Someshwara in lakkundi, Hanagal, Bankapura and Itagi in Karnataka. Our forefathers are said to have migrated from Man-dogad in Gujrat state. The famous Somanath temple of Gujarat was built during the Chalukya rule. We must cherish these historical feats of achievement with pride. The Chalukya kings became the fol-lowers of Jaina Dharma and built jaina temples (Basadis) in Bada-mi, Laxmeshwara and elsewhere in Karnataka. The Chalukyas of Badami, Kalyani, Rastrakutas and the Kalchuri Hyayahya kings were all blood-relatives.

Preparation:1. In a kadai (wok) fry the sliced onions until light brown.2. Into this add, the ginger-garlic paste and fry for another minute or two, before adding half of the freshly pound garam masala. Make sure the ga ram masala is not the readymade version, but handmade as the aromas lend a distinct flavor to the chicken later.3. After frying for a minute, add the chicken pieces and make sure that they have been coated well in the pound spices. Now cover and cook for 5 min utes.4. Add tomato puree, red chili powder and salt at this stage. Mix well and once again cover and cook the chicken, until well done. Normally, it takes 20-25 minutes to completely get the chicken laced in the sauce. Add a lit tle water if needed.5. Finally, add the tomato ketchup, red chili sauce, the remaining garam masala powder, green chilies and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and turn off the heat.6. I personally loved it with rotis, however you can try it as it is and enjoy!

8th ANNUAL DAY AT KINDER GARTEN KID’S SCHOOL HUBLI

Hubballi 23-Mar: Kinder garten Kids School Hubballi celebrated its 8th Year Annual Day on March 23rd, 2015. The School’s principle Smt Nagaratna S. Jaratgar chaired the occasion. Mr. Shashikant N. Jartarghar presided over the function. On this grand occasion, water aware-ness program, save water campaign, on-the-spot-speech, group discussion, on-the-spot drawing competition and other creative activities were or-ganized. Mr. T.R. Shirul, Head Master Govt School,

BJP leader Shri Mahesh Tenginkai, Mahila Man-dal vicepresident Sunita J. Kalennavar, Geeta T. Jarat-gar, Sunandabai V. Miskin were present on the func-tion. Winners were awarded by principle and other mahila mandali members. The event was a grand one.

Banks, SSK Bank too prospered in the Banking business for many many years meeting the monetary needs of the large spectrum of the community.

Since the year 2000 many co-operative Banks in length and breads of India, started los-ing their financial stability and were not in a position to return the deposits to their custom-ers. SSK Bank too was not an exception. In un-divided Dhar-wad District many co-operative Banks started sinking and RBI restricted them to continue the business of Banking. Simi-larly SSK Bank too was placed under moratorium and the Karnataka Co-operative De-partment appointed an Admin-istrator in lieu of elected board of directors during 2003-04.

During the year 2010 a show cause notice was issued by Re-serve Bank of India under Rule 35(A) for liquidation of SSK, long lasted Bank. This was shocking news for the Society in general and the well-wishers of the Bank in particular. It was a matter of great concern that the one and the only Bank of our samaj which was a Kama-dhenu for the needy people of our community is sinking.

A few alert, sincere, active and veteran members of the community with the sole inten-tion of reviving our only Bank with the help and timely assis-tance of Shri Jagdish Shettar, the then Dharwd District-in-Charge Minister and Shri K.H. Patil, President, Federation of Karnataka Co-op. Urban Banks, Bangalore and as per instruc-tions and stipulation of the Re-serve Bank of India, mobilized additional share capital of Rs. 1.5 crores with assistance of savior Shrimant Harisa Khode, Bangalore as also local kind hearted business people and social workers and also recov-ered more than Rs.4 crores of outstanding loans. This was possible due to the strenu-ous efforts of all the concerned people of the community.

Considering improvement in the financial status of the Bank, the convinced Reserve Bank of India ultimately lifted the Clause 35(A) imposed on the Bank and permitted restoration of Banking activities effective from 30th December 2011. This a land mark in the history of the Bank and it is not a matter of exaggeration if we say that the Gateway of Prosperity was re-opened for the benevolence of the community. The contri-bution of the Administrators appointed by the Co-operative Department was commend-able. After reading an article in Deccan Herald recently, my mind started wandering. I couldn’t agree more with what was written. Everyone talks about treating women in the right way, respecting them, fight-ing for them and taking a stand for them. There are protests eve-rywhere after a crime has taken place. People get down to streets demanding justice. Celebrities take part too. They give their opinion on social networking sites. But, in reel life, it’s the celebrities who portray women in a provoca-tive role. Male actors keep chas-ing the woman despite her ‘no’, only to have her in his arms after a song. That’s why, a majority of Indian men do not know how to take ‘no’ for an answer. They are unable to separate the reel world from the real world. As the writer in the article has justly said ‘we can-

not tell whether’s it’s a case of art imitating life or life imitating art’When girls step out of the house late evening, all the members of the house get worried and each one gives a different warning. Having listened to so many things, the girl drops the idea of going out, no matter how important it is.I had to meet my friends for an important discussion, but, due to the inconvenience of all, we couldn’t meet during the day. For-tunately or unfortunately, it was scheduled for the evening. But, it’s Indian Stretchable Time (IST), we met at 8.30 p.m. By the time we were done discussing and filled our bellies, it was already 9.30. After that, we just stood on the street sharing lighter moments when something really strange happened. A guy stared at us and walked past us. The guys with

me were worried and all kinds of ‘ifs, buts, dos n don’ts’ started. I realized how insecure girls are in today’s world. We were about to make a move when the same guy who had walked past us returned and said, “sir, idu area sari illa, hudgi jote isht ratri ille irodu sari illa, illinda bega hogi.” (it is not good to be out in the streets with a girl so late at night, this area is not safe. Make a move soon)All of us were touched by his ges-ture. Then I thought ‘not all men are the same’. There are those who really care. Instead of pray-ing and lighting candles for the victims after the crime has taken place, not letting a crime hap-pen is a better choice. As the saying goes “Helping hands are better than praying lips”. isn’t it?

Hubballi: We are happy to announce that our sa-maj youngster Tuljappa M. Ladwa (29) has secured 36th rank in IES (Indian Engineering Services) ex-amination conducted by UPSC. He is now excitingly waiting the mains result.

“It was very difficult to muster fees for college ad-mission. With the help of gov-ernment scholarship, I man-aged to get a seat at PC Jabin Science College. The year 2006 was the worst period for my family. My father met with an accident and was in bed for a year. But I cracked the entrance exam and got a B Tech seat at NIT Rour-kela in electrical engineering in same year,” recalls Tul-jappa with tears in his eyes.

IES is rare exam; nearly

2 lakh candidates will appear for the prelims. It is not fa-mous like IAS IFS and IPS. Tulajappa proved that finan-cial position is not barrier to achieve success. He was with NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) earlier to this as Asst Manager, where he asked two months leave to prepare for competitive exams, but the management refused and he had to leave the job. Amidst all difficulties he passed this examination.

Another interesting thing is he has failed in mains re-cently by just 5 marks, this time he will chase it, he added.

He thanked his father Mo-tilal T. Ladwa and mother Jayashree for their support in achieving this grand suc-cess. His father is 10th class pass and he worked hard

to fetch good edu-cation to his three c h i l -d r e n . His fa-ther runs a stationary shop, still he travel to Mumbai to supply goods to local station-ary shops. Tulajappa says, we all studied in a very small house, now we are all in a good position by our parent’s blessings. His brother San-jay is a software engineer in Hyderabad and his sister Deepika is the principle of MVP ITI College in Hubballi.

Proud Parents: Our children have worked hard amidst all difficul-ties and now a silver lin-ing has come in our life.
