This sparkling festival is celebrated in different parts of the country. This ancient festival of Diwali has been celebrated for ages in India and annual

celebrations are still held each year all over the country with great flourish, enthusiasm and gaiety. Traditionally believed to be a Hindu festival of wealth and prosperity, it is amazing to see how Diwali has become an occasion for all Indians irrespective of their status and castes. In the afternoon, visit the local market to see and witness the grandeur of the Diwali festival of lights known for bringing prosperity. Day 4: Delhi - Agra (approx. 203 kms) (B) Continue exploring Delhi today with a half day city tour of Old Delhi - Raj Ghat (Red Fort), where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. Built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan, the Red Fort is the largest in India, with three great gateways, four angle towers and two minarets constructed of alternating vertical strips of red sandstone and white marble. From here your senses will come alive with a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk; this main street of Old Delhi is a colourful shopping bazaar with all the back streets, colour and bustle that you would expect. This afternoon, relax as you travel from Delhi to Agra and the wonders of the Taj Mahal. Today travel to Bharatpur, along the way visit Fatehpur Sikri (the City of Victory), this small fortified city is built out of red sandstone and was the capital of the Mughal Empire for 10 years. Bharatpur is a bird lovers paradise, with no less than 377 bird species already spotted. This afternoon experience a bird watching tour by rickshaw. If your luck permits, it is not too tough to spot 50-100 species in a day. The fact remains that Bharatpur is one of the only two known wintering haunts of the Siberian Crane.

Day 8: Jaipur - Amber Fort - City Tour (B) Enjoy a full day city sightseeing tour of Jaipur. Begin with a morning excursion to Amber Fort. The Amber Fort is located 11km from Jaipur and was the old fort of the Kachhwaha clan of Amber, which used to be the capital, till it was moved to Jaipur. The fort is built with white marble and red sandstone and looks even more attractive because of the Maota Lake in the foreground. Day 11: Jodhpur - Pushkar (approx. 185 kms) (B) Head to Pushkar today. Characterised by a picturesque valley, mountainous regions and several pilgrimage sites of importance, Pushkar is well known. It marks one of the revered Hindu pilgrimage sites of India and houses the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma in the world. Join in the festivities and fun of the Pushkar camel fair. The locals dress up in traditional clothing during this much-awaited camel fair. Their colourful veils, turbaned heads, and colourfully dyed skirts, with sounds of the ektara and the soulful tunes of the Rajasthani folk songs will make your time unforgettable. Enjoy an afternoon tour of Pushkar visiting the Brahma Temple, beautifully painted in shades of blue and red and was constructed using marble and stone slabs. Also visit the Pushkar lake, surrounded by almost 500 temples. The lake has 52 ghats, each of which were once the personal ghats for the 52 Maharajas of Rajasthan who performed sacred rituals here. Day 12: Pushkar Camel Fair (B) The sprawling annual festivities of the 100 year old Pushkar Mela commence today. The day of the full moon, according to legend, when the Hindu god Brahma sprung up the Pushkar Lake, thus numerous people swim in its sacred waters. This iconic fair attracts thousands of livestock and almost a million tourists including many from across the world.
