A scalar quantity is a quantity that has magnitude only.

Examples include:Mass

Temperature

Energy

Speed

Distance

Pressure

Scalar quantities are added additively e.g.

5kg + 10kg = 15kg

25J + 30J = 55J

8m/s + 10m/s = 18m/s

A vector quantity has both magnitude and direction.

Examples include:

Force

Velocity

Weight

Electric current

One way to represent a vector is by an arrow and the length of the vector drawn to scale, as the magnitude
