Principals Report

Hello everyone,

We are half way through the term and camp is fast

approaching. We have a very busy term ahead, including

Science Week, Book Week, book week parades, netball

finals, Hooptime and so much more!

A big welcome to Lucas Lee in grade 1, who joins our

school this week! We hope you enjoy being part of our

wonderful learning community.

On Friday our prep students celebrated their 100 first

days at school! They shared activities with their grade

5/6 buddies and had a wonderful time. Congratulations

to Kinzee, Theo, Spencer, Kiara, Isla, Bailey, Emma,

Imogen, Willow, Paige, Jem and Kirby on a memorable

milestone!

This week is Science Week and Chaan and myself will be

doing some exciting science things throughout the week,

including some lunch time activities for students to get

involved with.

Thursday August 23rd is Book Week and we will be

having our annual book week parade at 9.15am in the

multipurpose room again. It is an opportunity for

students and staff to have a little fun and dress up as

their favourite characters from books they have read.

Encouraging our children to read for pleasure is so

important in developing a love of reading. Reading

regularly and logging your child’s reading into their log

book is important as it provides information to their

teacher about the reading habits and the quality and

genre of their reading. Having parents also read to the

children is just as beneficial and great shared time

together.

Italian Day will be on Tuesday 21st August. Students will

be participating in a variety of activities on the day,

including the opportunity to have a special lunch order of

Italian inspired food, pizza and pasta. A note has gone

home tonight with students, please read the options and

return your child’s lunch order no later than midday

Monday 20th. Cappa Rossi needs time to organise this

special event for us, so no late orders will be taken.

We are organising a fun Maths Family night on Tuesday

August 28th, starting at 5.30pm. This will be an opportunity

for your child/children to show you what they are doing in

mathematics with our new Top Ten Maths program, but is

also a fun night playing games and working toward prizes.

Please put the night aside and encourage as many people as

possible to join in. This fun family night is open to all

members of the community, not just families from KPS. The

young and old, the new and not so new! Come along and

join in the fun!

Have a great weekend!

FROM: The Office

Parent Opinion Survey

The Parent Opinion Survey is now available to be completed online. The survey only takes about 10-15 minutes and will be open until Sunday August 26th. A note went home last week with instructions on how to access the survey. Copies of this note are available at the office if yours has gone astray.

Roses Cap Camp

The 3-6 Roses Gap camp is only about 5 weeks away. If you wish for your child to attend, please ensure that the consent form has been signed and medical form is returned, even if your child doesn’t have any medical conditions. Deposits should have been received by August 3rd and the balance is due no later than September 3rd. Time to start counting how many sleeps, before they take off.

It’s going to be amazing.

IMPORTANT NOTICES

Fundraising

A big thank you to all the Parents who have already

returned the Cadbury Chocolates fundraiser or

made a donation. It is greatly appreciated. If you

wish to sell another box, please see Diana or Susie

at the office. Again, Thank you.

Last week we threw ourselves into the cosmos. Not literally, that would be ridiculous. Check out how we did it here: http://sugarloafstem.global2.vic.edu.au/category/weekly-s-t-e-m-summary/
