Dear Children and Parents, It has been a busy week as we are getting ready for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 to come back to school after half term (if the scientists measuring the virus levels still see it is safe for us to do so). We have sent out a letter to let you know how things will be organised and will give more details next week to the families and children coming back to school. If you are in Years 2,3,4 and 5 you will still be working at home and we will still be sending you lots of work to help you keep learning. There will still be virtual students of the week and newsletter and zooms from your teachers as well as their weekly films. Every week, you impress us so much with just how well you are doing at home and seeing how many different ways that you are learning. The newsletters are jam packed full of your amazing work, which is wonderful to see. The thing that I don’t like is my diary popping up each day with the things that you would have been doing if we were still at school. Mrs Webb and I are making a list of these things so that we can try to “catch up” on as much as possible when we are back together.

This week is Christian Aid Week, so do donate money to this amazing charity if you can! And have a cake to Celebrate, as it would have been our fundraising cake sale this week. www.christianaid.org.uk/

Have a lovely weekend! With best wishes as ever, Mrs Hawkins

We are holding a mini fundraising event for the

Children-Reverse mufti day. On Friday 22nd May we would

like all the children to wear their school uniform to their home schooling lessons and

send a photo to [email protected]

for the next newsletter.

A £1 donation can be made on the School Gateway.

All funds raised will go to the enrichment fund.

Next week is Ascension Day and our new tradition is to blow bubbles into the air and watch them rise. This will help us to remember Jesus ascending into heaven. Lets hope our key worker postmen and women can help with deliveries this week, as we are organising some bubbles to be delivered to you all. You can join Father Brian and Father Nicholas to celebrate Ascension Day on Thursday and blow bubbles together.

Red Arrows

The Red Arrows, an aerobatic display team and the public face of the Royal Air Force made one of their famous flypasts on VE Day, did you see them? Some of us were lucky enough to have spotted them and were very impressed by what we saw. We may not be able to have parties with our friends, but we can still celebrate in style at home. What better way to mark a birthday, baby shower, engagement or celebration than with balloons. Stay at home celebrations can still be fabulous! If you have an up coming occasion that you want to make special, please contact Mrs Phillips at the email address below. Holy Trinity Junior Church Zoom Sundays at 11am

Families have been meeting online to share in a 20 minute encounter to maintain friendships, learn about interesting pieces of artwork pertaining to the Gospel of the day and subsequently making a craft at home. If you have children and your family would like to join on Sunday, please email our Parish Administrator on [email protected] for the login details. Please note that a formal register of children joining the 'zoom meet' will be taken and this will provide Fr Nicholas with a record of attendance, with regards to school admissions during this challenging time.

Our first student of the week award goes to a boy who has

been working really hard from home. Miss Martin has been

super impressed with this boy’s commitment to learning

and how fun and engaging all his activities are. This week,

we used DUPLO bricks to form numbers 1-10. He also has a

whiteboard in his room which he uses to practise his

spellings and to write sentences. Super work!

Well done and congratulations to Ethan!

Our second student of the week award goes to a little boy

who has been working really hard from home. Miss Martin

loves seeing this boys’ work as his handwriting is super neat

and beautiful. When Miss Martin watches videos of this boy

doing his work she can see that he is focused and always

tries his best. Keep up the good work!

Well done and congratulations to Oscar!

The first special mention for year 1 this week goes to a little girl who really impressed Miss Quirke over zoom. This girl

showed off her brilliant writing practice, she has been hard at work practicing her upper and lower case letters. She also

shared some of the stories that she has been reading at home this week as well. Miss Quirke was also

very impressed with the incredible den that she had made with her sister. It must have taken a lot of effort and

determination! Keep up this super learning. Well done Annabel

The next special mention goes to another little girl who has consistently been working extremely hard from home. This girl always tries her best to complete all the home learning

tasks set and works hard to complete these to a high standard. It is evident from her work that she is continuing to work on her writing skills and is working incredibly hard

to develop her reading at home. She is also consistently working on her problem solving in Maths and puts in a lot of effort into wider topic work. Miss Quirke is so proud of

the dedication this little girl has shown towards her learning. She really is a learning superstar. Well done and

congratulations to Elena

The first student of the week is a girl who has impressed Miss Birmingham immensely with her work ethic and

positive attitude. She has persevered through every task, no matter how tricky! Miss Damla has said that this girl is zooming through her math work. She has even been

attempting math work from higher year levels, including some equations from Year 6! This girl is certainly a

mathematician to watch for the future. Keep up this incredible enthusiasm for learning and

you will achieve amazing things. Congratulations, Chloe.

The second student of the week is a boy who has been creating some fantastic work at home. This week he has been super engaged with our ‘Charlie and the Chocolate

Factory’ writing tasks. One task in particular involved creating an invitation to Willy Wonka’s factory. This boy

thought carefully about the details he would need to incorporate from the story. He has also been busy 'behind

the scenes’ with helping in the garden, keeping fit and turning into a master chef in the kitchen by whipping up

some delicious meals! Miss Birmingham has certainly missed this boy’s beaming smile and happy spirit every day

in the classroom but has loved receiving all his Class Dojo updates.

Congratulations, Eden!

This pupil has shown how in difficult times it is still incredibly important to take the time to look after those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Mael

noticed one day that some baby birds had fallen out of their nest and their parents could not help them. He rescued them and is helping them get better so

that they will be healthy enough to fly away one day. Well done Mael!

It was a number of weeks ago now but this pupil really impressed Mr Broughton with his practical

knowledge and application of History. He is very lucky to have access to Primary Historical Sources and was

able to demonstrate by video how to load and fire an old-fashioned rifle.

Well done to Charlie!

The first student of the week is a boy who has worked tremendously hard this year to improve and extend his

writing. Last week, he designed his own super-hero called Super-do and wrote a very detailed character description. He made sure to be very specific in his description so that

the reader could accurately visualise his character. Well done and great work, Freddie.

The second student of the week is a boy who has been working really hard at Learning Creche.

He wrote a well-structured persuasive letter to convince Ms Hawkins that students should not have to wear school

uniform. In his letter he included two strong reasons, connectives such as Firstly and Furthermore, and included

an introduction and conclusion. This boy should be proud of his efforts.

Congratulations and well done, Michael.

This week’s first special mention goes to a boy, who gave one of the best poetry performances Miss Neave has ever

seen. Full of passion, emotion and action it was a captivating sight. Miss Neave can see why he is a student

that always excels in public speaking and drama. It brought a smile to her face seeing someone so dedicated and

enthusiastic about their work in this difficult time. Additionally, it was amazing to speak to him this week. It is hard to keep a smile on your face in these strange

times, but this boy not only has one on his face, he brings one to all the staff that work with him.

Congratulations and well done, Jehzane.

Year 5’s next special mention goes to another boy, who is always a delight to speak to during the week. His presence

on Zoom is bright, delightful and full of an eagerness to learn. Miss Neave always looks forward to talking to this

student. From discussions on books, to the effect of population on a biome to his awesome and astounding

efforts with multiplication, a Zoom session with this boy is not just full of learning, but also an eagerness to learn more and understand all the world around him. Keep up with that

enthusiasm and love of learning, it will serve you well. Congratulations and well done, Lucas.

The first special mention this week goes to a boy who impressed us with his incredible shoebox home.

The patience and creativity that went into this project was spectacular. We definitely have an architect in the making.

This boy has also shown that he is resilient when it comes to his learning, demonstrating important problem solving skills when attempting to solve a mathematical problem via zoom with Miss Moros. He is never afraid to give something a go,

well done and huge congratulations to Andres.

The next special mention goes to a girl who is an all-round star pupil. She has remained a fantastic friend to others

during a tricky time being supportive and thoughtful. Her work is always completed to a high standard and has

definitely shown clear signs of being ready for Year 7. She has been a delight to have in our virtual classroom and looking forward to seeing her on the 1st of June,

congratulations, Naran.
