November 2016

As our driver banquets have come to an end, Fort Transfer would like to acknowledge our driver of the year, Bob Hensel. Bob has been with Fort Transfer since January of 2012. He is an independent contractor driving truck # 1523. Scott Ubbenga, the Morton terminal manager had the below to say about Bob and what made him the winner of the driver of the year. "Bob Hensel is an absolute professional and always keeps safety a priority. He is very easy to get along with, excellent at communicating and always on time. Bob communicates with dispatch via email, and is always letting us know his availability and time off needs in advance. Bob never turns down work, and he always completes his macros and scans his paperwork on time. Bob maintains his equipment very well and takes pride in taking care of Fort’s equipment. As a result of how proactive Bob is, he virtually never breaks down or has equipment malfunctions. Bob is the spitting image of an ideal Fort Transfer Driver – he is the type of guy that every Carrier wishes they had 100 of. We appreciate everything he does."

Driver of the Month-Gary Williams

Our September 2016 driver of the month lives in Clinton, LA. He has been in the trucking industry for about 20 years. Gary and his wife Janet have been married for 22 years. They have 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

In his free time, he likes to go camping and hunting. He just likes to be in the woods. He considers himself a good ole country boy who was raised on a farm. He said one of the best things about Fort is the people he works with. Please help us congratulate Gary Williams, our September 2016 driver of the month.

Slightly adjust your seat position every 30-60 minutes to vary the stress on your body. When seated, the front of the seat shouldn’t touch the back of your knee. This causes you to slide forward into a rounded posture, which is hard on your back. A lumbar roll or rolled up towel can help support your back and relieve some temporary pain.

Safety MessageDrivers, as you all are aware cold weather is drawing near. This means take the time to prepare for the chance of being stuck somewhere. Stock your truck with extra water, food, any medication you might take, and warm clothing. Be mindful of ice and snow on your steps or the ground when you get out of the truck. After all, what good is the truck without you to drive it? Get a spare set of wiper blades and extra windshield washer fluid. Make sure you have spare fuel filters. You need to make sure that you are prepared for the worst, because usually if you aren’t that’s when it happens to you.
