1 Overview

1.1 Presentation

This procedure describes how to concentrate data from two NPO/ 9953 MPserver machines into a unique database.

One of the machines is the source machine, whose data will be transferred. It

is the future cluster master node.The machine into which the data will be transferred is referred to as the targetmachine. It is the future cluster slave node.

1 Overview

1.2 Preparation

1.2.1 Prerequisites

The following prerequisites apply:

The free space on the /alcatel/oracle/oradata partition of the target

machine must be the double of the occupied space on the same partition

of the source machine. The source machine becomes the master of the

cluster, and the target machine becomes the slave node of the cluster.

A license must be available for the 9953 MP / 9159 NPO installation

You must have a Citrix account and a license key

You must have Internet access

At least one PC must be available for the 9953 MP / 9159 NPO Client, on

which it is possible to run a web browser (for starting 9953 MP / 9159 NPO

via Administration Facilities, etc.)

Inform the operator. Ask that an operator’s representative be onsite (unless

otherwise specifically agreed in writing).

You must have the 9953 MP/9159 NPO Service Reference Sheet .

All the input listed in the Site Specific Information (Section 1.2.2) is available

The hardware machine to install is already cabled.

1.2.2 Site Specific Information

Before you begin, ensure that you know the following information about the9953 MP/9159 NPO configuration to install (refer to the 9953 MP/9159 NPO Service Reference Sheet ).

This Scenario presents all checks needed before beginning the scenario, andall detailed tasks to be performed on each site.

2 Scenario

2.1 Before Going Onsite

Before going onsite, you must check that the following information and suppliesare available:

All Prerequisites (Section 1.2.1) are met

The customer has been informed of the:

Date and time

Site name and address

Purpose of operation.

Personnel are available (refer to Scheduling (Section 1.3) )

Site Specific Information (Section 1.2.2) is available

Tools (Section 1.5.1) are available and ready for operation

Supplies (Section 1.5.2) are available and ready for operationApplicable Documents (Section 1.5.3) are available.

2.2 Before You Start

2.2.1 Checks

Perform the following operations:

Check that all Prerequisites (Section 1.2.1) are met

Check the availability of all necessary Tools (Section 1.5.1) and Supplies ( Section 1.5.2)

Inform the operator

You must complete the required CCL as you complete the scenario.

Among the cases described in Cases (Section 1.1.1) and the options describedin Options (Section 1.1.2) , identify which cases and options apply to you.

2.2.2 Required Knowledge

You must be familiar with the following:

Safety rules and precautions

Operating Hints

How to document faults and anomalies .

2.3 Concentrate Two NPO Servers

This section describes how to merge data from both NPOs onto the targetNPO machine.

2.3.1 Backup NPO Data

Before starting the concentration procedure, perform a full backup of theNPO database from each NPO server. Refer the 9953 MP/NPO Platform Administration Guide , to Backup/Restore .

2.3.2 Update License on Target Machine

Note: The NPO license on the target NPO machine must be updated. The number ofcells defined by the new license must be the sum of the number of cells onthe source machine and on the target machine.

To upgrade the license:

1. Open a terminal window as root .

2. Ensure that the /etc/hosts file contains the IP address and the hostnameof the source NPO machine.

3. Backup the existing license. Type:

cd /install/datacp license.xml license.xml.bak

4. Copy the new license.xml file into the /install/data directory.

5. Activate the new license:

cd /alcatel/muse/MUSE_ADMIN/bin

./setLicense.sh /install/data/license.xml

6. At the question:Please Confirm the installation of the License

File(y/n):

Type y and press [ Enter ] .

7. The following message appears:

A License File is already installed. Do you want to

over-write with new one(y/n)

Type y and press [ Enter ] .

8. At end of the output script, check the message:Exit Status is 0

9. Reboot the server machine:

init 6

2.3.3 Prepare Data Merge on Source NPO Machine

Prepare the data merge on the source NPO machine:

1. Login as the root user on the NPO source machine .

2. Ensure that the /etc/hosts file contains the IP address and the hostname

of the target NPO machine.

3. Launch the Firefox browser from the server:

cd /usr/local/firefox

./firefox

If an "Alert" popup window appears, click on [ OK ] .

4. In the URL bar, type the following address:

http://<Server_IP_address>/osm/admin

5. In the "Prompt" window:

For the Username, type osmadmin

For the Password, type alcatel

Click on [ OK ] .

6. Select the Process Monitoring menu option.

7. In the Processes tab of the ’Detailed Status’ part of the window, press[ StopAll ] .

8. Wait for all the processes to stop.

9. Close the Firefox browser.

10. Prepare the data merge procedure:cd /alcatel/muse/MUSE_MIGRATION/bin

./concentrateNPOChoose option 1 .

If you are asked whether to drop an existing temporary tablespace, answer y.

2.3.4 Merge Data on Target NPO Machine

Merge the data on the target NPO machine:

1. Login as root on the 9159 NPO/9953 MP Server.

2. Declare the data sources of the source NPO on the target NPO. Refer

the 9953 MP/NPO Platform Administration Guide , to OMC-R/RNP Data Source Management .

Note: Set the migration date of the data source you declare as the current date.

Stop 9159 NPO/9953 MP 3. Launch the Firefox browser from the command line:cd /usr/local/firefox

./firefox

4. If the "Alert" popup window appears, click on [ OK ] .

5. Open the following URL:http://{Server_IP_addres}/osm/admin/

6. Login as osmadmin (password: alcatel ). Click on [ OK ] .

7. To stop the Server processes, select the Process Monitoring menu option.

8. In the Processes tab of the ’Detailed Status’ part of the window, click on the9159 NPO/9953 MP hostname.

9. In the "Detailed View " , stop all the processes.

After the processes are succesfully stopped, close the "AdministrationFacilities" window.

Before Migration

10. Open a "Terminal" window.

11. As root, perform the following:

cd /alcatel/muse/MUSE_MIGRATION/bin

./npaRestoreChoose option 5 to exit.

12. Run the following script:su - oracle


./configureNPAMigration

13. Select option 1 and press [ Enter ] .

14. If a question appears, type y and press [ Enter ] .

Wait for the end of the script.

15. Exit from the menu using any option other than ’1’ and ’2’ .

Merge Data 16. Run the following commands:cd /alcatel/muse/MUSE_MIGRATION/bin

./concentrateNPO

Choose option 2 when you are asked (this is the target machine).

If you are asked whether to drop an existing temporary tablespace, answer y.

Just after you launched the script concentrateNPO, open a new terminalwindow, and perform as root the following step:

cd /alcatel/muse/MUSE_MIGRATION/traces/

tail -f NPO_CONCENTRATION_<hostname>.traces | grep

"Finished importing QOS data"

As soon as the message Finished importing QOS data is displayed, thesource machine can be installed as master node of the cluster.

Refer to the Migrate to Cluster document for information about how toperform this operation.

17. In the window that appears, type the IP address of the source machine.

18. When the concentrate NPO script finishes, choose option 3 , then exitthe dialog.

After Migration

19. In a "Terminal" window, run the following script:

su - oracle


./configureNPAMigration

20. Select option 2 and press [ Enter ] .

21. If a question appears, type y and press [ Enter ] .

Wait for the end of the script.

22. Exit from the menu using any option other than ’1’ and ’2’ .

23. On the day following the one when the procedure was started, check inthe Consolidation Follow-up menu whether recovered data was stillloaded during the night. If the previous day appears with recovered data,perform recovery consolidation.

24. Refer to the Migrate to Cluster document to install the target machine as theslave node of the cluster.
