1770 UNIFORMS COMPARED TO NEW

AND IMPROVED UNIFORMS OF 2011

HOW THE UNIFORMS CAME ABOUT

George Washington was chosen to design the uniform The Continental Congress decided that the uniforms would have to represent our country in some way. The official colors in 1775 were brown, red, and navy blue. Navy blue was/is the national color for all four forces of service. (Most likely will never be replaced with any other color)

AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR UNIFORMS

They were made out of woolThey consisted of only three ways to carry weapons other than by hand ( bayonet belt, firelock w/sling, and a cartridge box) No pockets Troops wore regular everyday shoes nothing to keep warm or dry from rain

So as you can see the uniforms weren’t very whether appropriate , protective, or beneficial to the people fighting.

THE NEW AND IMPROVED UNIFORMS

Eighteen changes have been made since 2006 and everyone in service is expected to have the new uniforms by this year.Lt. Lefferts is the designer of the new uniform So many great changes have been made, definitely for the troops benefit…

A FEW IMPORTANT AND MAIN CHANGES

Many pockets have been added so that soldiers have ways of carrying weapons…they are velcro incase they need to be replaced or washed. Protective headgear and a face mask to keep warm, safe, and to hide light skin tones from opponents in the woodland areas. The most important addition to the uniform is a bullet proof vest which keeps bullets from going through their body’s if ever shot.

HOW DID I KNOW MY SOURCES WERE RELIABLE

I knew my sources were valid because Mrs. Respers taught me how to use CARRDS and I checked several websites to verify my info.

Problems I encountered most was trying to verify my information and getting used to my computer at home because its different than the ones we use at school.

Technology is becoming more advanced and people are getting addicted to it.
