A warm welcome back to the NYU College of Dentistry and the Ashman Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry! It is an honor to have our distinguished alumni return and share their experience and accomplishments at the 17th Annual Implant Alumni Symposium. I look forward to celebrating all of your accomplishments.
Again, we are excited to have received so many presentation submissions and to have seven outstanding presentations from our alumni. The topics are as diverse as the countries from where the speakers originate. I am confident that we will all be enriched by their experience and wisdom. I know you will enjoy our research poster forum, highlighting research and innovations in implant dentistry from our students and faculty.
My sincerest gratitude to Dr. Sang-Choon Cho and our faculty and staff, for it is their enthusiasm and dedication that continue to make our International Implant Program an outstanding success. Your achievements as alumni are evidence to this.

I am certain that our 17th Annual Implant Alumni Symposium will be a great opportunity for us to share our experiences and accomplishments since our participation in the program. I am very proud of our 324 alumni who have joined us from 41 countries over the past 27 years. It is remarkable that we have forged so many enriching and collaborative relationships across borders, cultures and decades.

Alfonso Caiazzo, DDS SOCKET PRESERVATION: A Must or a Passing Trend?A Critical Approach to the Different Techniques[Implant Dentistry, 1999]
Dr. Alfonso Caiazzo completed his dental training at Universita’ degli studi di Napoli “Federico II” Dental School in Napoli, Italy in 1991. He then came to the United States and completed a residency and fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tufts University. He then came to NYU and completed the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant Dentistry in 1999.
Dr. Caiazzo is the third generation of dentist in the Caiazzo family. He practices privately in Salerno, Italy and continues to teach, lecture and publish nationally and internationally. Dr. Caiazzo maintains memberships in the Academy of Osseointegration, The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is currently serving as the Vice-President of the Italian Academy of Osseointegration.

Dr. Giuseppe Bianco received his DDS from the University of Roma La Sapienza in 1998. Between 1999 and 2004, he completed four programs at New York University College of Dentistry’s Advanced Programs for International Dentists: Advanced General Dentistry, Implant Dentistry, Esthetic Dentistry and the Clinical Fellowship. In 2004, he joined the faculty at the D’Annunzio
University of Chieti, Pescara, Italy earning a PhD in Bone Healing in 2009. Since 2004, he has been the owner and clinical director of his private practice, Fisioeurope, which specializes in implant treatment and esthetic dentistry. Dr. Bianco is an active member of the American Academy of Osseointegration (AO), European Academy of Osseointegration (EAO) and the Italian Academy of Osseointegration (IAO). Dr. Bianco is a founder of the Implant Alumni Association at NYU College of Dentistry and also a founder of Piezosurgery Academy. He is the author of several publications and has been a guest speaker at national and international dental meetings. Dr. Bianco’s current focus is on the application of piezosurgery technology to improve implant treatment.
Hsing Yun Lisa Wu, DDS REDUCING RISKS IN IMPLANT DENTISTRY[Implant Dentistry, 2013]
Dr. Lisa Wu is a graduate of Taipei Medical University where she earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2008. From 2008 to 2011, she completed a full-time residency training program in the Prosthodontics Department in Triservice General Hospital in Taipei. In 2011, Dr. Wu enrolled in the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant Dentistry and received her certificate in 2013. Dr. Wu is a Diplomate of the International
Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), and a specialist of the Academy of Dental Implantology Taiwan (ADIT). Dr. Wu is an active member of many implant dental organizations and the committee for international affairs in the Taiwan Dental Association. Dr. Wu is currently in private practice in Taipei, Taiwan. Her practice focuses on esthetics and implant dentistry.

Dr. Ahmad Kutkut, is an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky, College of Dentistry, Department of Oral Health Practice, Division of Restorative Dentistry. In 2010, Dr. Kutkut completed his MS and Certificate in Prosthodontics at the State
University of New York at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine. Prior to that, he completed the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant Dentistry (2007) and the Comprehensive Dentistry Program (2005) at NYU College of Dentistry. Dr. Kutkut is an active member of the American Dental Education Association, ITI, American College of Prosthodontics, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and International Academy of Periodontology.
Alex Dagba, DDS IMPLANT AND SOFT TISSUE MANAGEMENT:A Road to Success[Implant Dentistry, 2015] Dr. Alex Dagba graduated from Paris V University Descartes in 2009. After obtaining his DDS, he practiced in Paris and completed several University Certificates (C.E.S) in Periodontology, Biomaterials and Fixed Prosthodontics. To improve his skills in implant dentistry he attended the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant
Dentistry at NYU Dentistry and received his certificate in 2015. The following year he became an ICOI diplomate. Since returning to Paris he has focused on Implant Dentistry and Esthetics. Since 2016, he has been the Chief Editor of the French Quintessence Journal, Titane.
Julien Mourlaas, DDS IMPLANT AND SOFT TISSUE MANAGEMENT:A Road to Success[Implant Dentistry, 2016] Dr. Julien Mourlaas graduated from Paris University Renes Descartes in 2012. After practicing for two years, he attended the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant Dentistry and received his certificate in 2016. Back in Paris, he joined Quintessence Publication as co-chief editor of the French journal Titane. He is a rookie lecturer for Nobel Biocare and Straumann and focuses his practice in the
fields of implant dentistry, periodontal-plastic surgery and periodontal regeneration.

Dr. Mai Lan Tran graduated from the Université René Descartes Paris V in 2008. She completed two programs at New York University College of Dentistry, the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Comprehensive Dentistry (2009) and the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant Dentistry (2012). Dr. Tran currently has a faculty position at the Université René Descartes Paris V teaching undergraduate students. She is a
member of an esthetic multidisciplinary team (Bioteam Paris) under the supervision of Dr. Gil Tirlet as well as a private continuing educational program named SAPO IMPLANT. She works as an implant specialist at a private practice in Paris as well as at a public hospital, APHP, Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris. In her free time, Dr. Tran enjoys gastronomy.

Jeong Lan Kim, DDS, MMSCOMPUTER-GUIDED SURGERY:Workflow and a Review[Implant Dentistry, 2009]
With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Jeong Lan Kim has founded and operates Cream Dental Clinic in Seoul’s Gangnam district. Adopting and integrating the concept of digital dentistry, the clinic and its dental laboratory use cutting-edge digital equipment in diagnosis, surgery and prosthetic design. Since 2015, Dr. Kim has placed over 4,000 dental implants using a computer-guided surgery system. In 2017 she was recognized
by the Dio Implant Company for the highest number of implant procedures. Dr. Kim teaches hands-on courses on computer-guided surgery.
Salvatore Florio, DDS, FICOI, DICOIPERI-IMPLANTITIS: Looking for the Gold Standard Treatment[Implant Dentistry, 2015]
Dr. Salvatore Florio graduated with honors from the University of Catania, Italy, where he received his DDS in 2011. In 2016, he graduated from the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Florio has lectured internationally and is the author of several publications. He is a diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and a member
of the Italian Academy of Osseointegration (AIO). Currently, he is practicing in Sicily as a specialist in Implant Dentistry, Periodontology and Aesthetic Dentistry.
Loana M. Tovar Suinaga, DDS, MS OVERCOMING SOFT TISSUE COMPLICATIONS DURING RESTORATIVE PROCEDURES[Implant Dentistry, 2014]
Dr. Tovar Suinaga is currently Clinical Assistant Professor and the Director of implant courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Louisville. Dr. Tovar Suinaga earned her DDS at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2009. She also earned a DDS in Spain in 2011. After completing the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant Dentistry in 2014, Dr. Suinaga went on to complete
her MS in Prosthodontics from Columbia University. Dr. Tovar Suinaga has published articles in implant dentistry and has participated as a presenter in several implant symposia.
