Dear athletes, coaches, distinguished guests and friends of karate, It is a great honor for me to invite all competitors from the Balkan countries to participate in the 17th Balkan Karate Championships for Cadets, Juniors & U21 which will take place in, Sarajevo - Vogošća, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from the 9th until the 11th of December, 2016. Organizing such an event is prestigious and a great responsibility. We hope that all participants will feel the Bosnian hospitality. Karate Federation of the Balkans is actively working towards the endorsement of the philosophy and spirit of Karate, promotes and develops Karate as an elite sport, as well as a mass sport for everyone. The Balkan Karate Championship in Sarajevo is more than just a competition, it is a place where friendship, respect and tolerance meet. The Karate sport is a challenge to the human spirit, the will and strength of the human body, daring and respect towards the opponent and a century old wisdom from the path. I wish you a warm welcome on behalf of the Vogošća municipality. It makes us very happy to host sports events specially when younger people are brought together. We are looking forward to the 17th Balkan Karate Championship for cadets, juniors and U21 which will bring together a great number of athletes, coaches, referees and participants from various neighboring countries. Thus, young people from Bosnia will have an opportunity to have fun together, exchange experience and compete with other young people from Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro, F.Y.R. of Macedonia, Albania, Turkey, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania and Kosovo. Dear athletes, coaches, referees, dear guests, On behalf of Karate Federation of Sarajevo Canton, the technical organizer of the 17th Balkan Karate Championship for cadets, juniors & U21, I wish you a pleasant stay in our city. Karate Federation of Sarajevo Canton has 20+ member clubs, all of which regularly have their representatives in our national teams for all age categories. That being said, we are all together very proud owners of many medals and cups from different World, European, Mediterranean and Balkan championships. Sarajevo has a rich sport history, one of the most famous events being the Winter Olympic Games that took place here in the winter of 1984. We are looking forward to hosting all of the championship delegations from Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, F.Y.R. of Macedonia, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, as well as delegations from all around Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is found directly to the southwest of Sarajevo, bordering Mt. Igman. Bjelašnicas tallest peak, by which the whole mountain group got its name, rises to an elevation of 2067 meters. Other notable peaks are Krvavac, Mali Vlahinja, and Hranisava. The Bjelašnica range is bordered by the Rakitnica in the south, the Neretva in the west, Mt Igman in the north-east and Mt Ivan in the north-west. Only at 20 minutes distance of Sarajevo, it is a popular tourist attraction for hiking and skiing. Climate The climate is warm and temperate in Sarajevo - Vogošća. There is significant rainfall throughout the year in Sarajevo - Vogošća. Even the driest month still has a lot of rainfall. The climate here is classified as Cfb by the Köppen-Geiger system. The average annual temperature in Sarajevo - Vogošća is 10.2 °C. About 979 mm of precipitation falls annually. Currency Coins come in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 50 Fennigs and 1, 2 and 5 Mark, while banknotes are available in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Mark. Most shops will accept payment in Euro bills. There are plenty of ATM machines in the major towns and cities. US dollars, British pounds and other major currency can be exchanged at the banks and exchange offices located in most major towns. They also exchange your leftover KMs back into any of major currency. Although credit cards are accepted in major towns, you should not rely on them. Bosnia uses the same fixed rate as the German Mark — 1.935583 BAM = 1 Euro. Bosnia-Herzegovina’s currency is the Convertible Mark (BAM), with one Mark being made up of 100 fennig.

Foreign visitors who are covered by health insurance in their own country are not obliged to pay for emergency medical services during a private stay in Bosnia and Hercegovina if a convention on Social Security has been signed between Bosnia and Hercegovina and the visitors' country of origin, i.e. if they have in their possession a certificate stipulated by such a convention confirming their right to health care. Health care (including transport) is used for emergency cases in the manner and according to regulations valid for Bosnian citizens covered by Social Security, with identical participation in health care costs (participation and administrative charges).

Persons coming from countries with which no such conventionhas been signed personally bear the costs of health services rendered. Shops and public services working hours During the tourist season, most shops are open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on weekdays, and many of them are also open during the weekend. Public services and business offices generally work from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Post and telecommunications Duty post offices are open on Saturdays and Sundays. Phone cards are used in all public telephones and maybe purchased from post offices and from newspaper and tobacco kiosks. International calls may be made directly from any public telephone. In the event of an accident, phone 112 for help! This number can be reached any time, day or night, regardless of where you are in the Bosnia and Hercegovina or in the European Union. Calls to this number are free of charge. Post offices are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

2. HOST CITY: SARAJEVO Sarajevo as capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of most impotant historical and economical capitals in souther Europe region. Each visit begins with big expectations. Every step you are about to cross, every photo you are about to take, every memory and note you are about to save are something special. The place you visit, will make your expectations grow, or maybe change your perception about it. You never know until you are able to reach the soul of the city you are visiting. The soul is hard to be found, accept if you are visiting a city that has it, and only few in the world do. Then, why not to come in heart of Europe, where civilizations, nations and religions meet each other with beautiful coexisting. With all of it's historical content and stories waiting to be told, from middle ages tombs, fortresses and temples, through ottoman bridges, mosques and hammams. Move yourself towards Austro-Hungarian period of might and glory to the beginning of world war I and the biggest siege that one city has ever experienced in modern warfare during 90's and ended as victorious. Make a stop and try delicious national foods that you can't eat nowhere else, visit all the locations of the Olympics '84 then end your day at the top of the hill watching beautiful sunset with scenery of one of most important historical cities of Europe. Do not be afraid of loosing big amount of money, Sarajevo will offer you all it has for a cheap price even during the days of Sarajevo Film Festival attended by worlds biggest celebrities. Relax yourself at one of near natural resorts, which there are many. Drink a water from the spring of river Bosna, or from main streets nearby fountains which there are many. 4.1 HOTEL PRICES The following prices are in EUROS per person/ per package and include accommodation and buffet breakfast. All taxes are included in price.

The prices are shown in EURO currency per person per night. All official hotels are located centrally and easy reachable by walking or transport (organized and public) and very close to all public attractions and hotspots. There will be organized transportations of participants from all hotels to exhibition venue. CATERING Lunch packages from hotel are available upon request for the 9th, 10th and 11th of December at a price of 5,00 EUR. Please, note this in the Rooming list form and Accommodation form.

BOOKING AND PAYMENT FOR THE ACCOMMODATION AND TRANSFERS The reservation of official accommodation has to be done by filling up the registration form (excel document: Registration form for accommodation.xls) and sending it to following e-mail address: [email protected] PRELIMINARY RESERVATION: November 20th, 2016. Preliminary reservation should be done up to November 20th, 2016. In order to make the preliminary reservation please fill out the booking and accommodation forms (excel document: Registration form for accommodation: Table 1 and 2) and send it via email. It is not necessary to send the complete rooming list at this stage. FINAL BOOKING AND PAYMENT: The final booking should be done by November 26th, 2016; this date will be considered final. In order to make the final booking it is necessary to fill out and send via email the final rooming list together with booking and accommodation forms by November 26th (excel document: Registration form for accommodation.xls: Table 1, 2 and 3). At this stage, 30% non-refundable deposit should be paid within 24 hours (not including Saturdays, Sundays or holidays) to make the reservation valid. The booking will only be confirmed upon receipt of a non- refundable deposit corresponding to 30% of the total service fee. The closing date for payments of 30% deposit is November 29th. PLEASE NOTE: All reservations that were not made by November 26th as well as all existing reservations which were not paid within this deadline and all changes made after this date will be charged with 30% regular price increase. The balance of your stay (other 70% of the amount) will have to be paid up to December 02nd, 2016. Booking and payment should be made to the official travel agency Pro Optimus Tours d.o.o. CANCELLATION POLICY If a cancellation is made within 7 days before the service ordered is due, the participants will be charged 100% of the service ordered fee. PAYMENT METHODS / BANK TRANSFER All payments should be done via bank transfer. You need to pay the required amount within 24 hours from the time of reservation, or time you receive confirmation of availability from our operators. At the same time, the guest is obligated to send Pro Optimus Tours d.o.o. a confirmation of the payment. In contrary, Pro Optimus Tours d.o.o. is not obligated to carry out the service of the reservation. Pro Optimus Tours d.o.o. is not responsible for outstanding reservations of services caused by not receiving the confirmation within 24 hours (except for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays). 7. COMPETITION VENUE Sports Hall “KSC Vogošća” is multi-purpose hall in Vogošća. It was built in 1953. Address: Jošanička 33, 71000 SARAJEVO. A hall has bleachers that hold about 1000 spectators. Hall is being used for sports manifestations and basketball and handball official league matches. The organizer will provide parking space for buses and cars nearby the sport venue. For national delegations that are coming to Sarajevo by airplane, the organizer will provide the official bus transfer on the days of the Championships from the Official hotels to the sport venue. All official hotels are located 15 min /7km/ by car to the sport hall.

7.1 HOST CITY: VOGOŠĆA Day of Vogošća is 24 June.

It was first mentioned under the name "GOGO-ŠTA", 1455, at the time of the Turkish penetration into the Balkans. Today's form of the name was given in the beginning of the second half of the sixteenth century.

The municipality is autonomous in deciding to self-government, in accordance with the Federation Constitution, the Constitution of the Canton, the federal and cantonal laws on local self-government.

The right to local self-government includes the right of citizens that through their directly elected representatives take part in the conduct of public affairs, providing conditions for living, working, improving and protecting their common interests.

Vogosca Municipality covers 72 km2. The area has developed infrastructure and sufficiently preserved spatial units, suitable for the development of industrial capacity and performance of all types of economic activities, including tourism. At the gates of the capital of the State of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the center of all economic, cultural, sporting, political and other developments. Population is optimal, with strong representation of all the qualifying structure. In the opinion of the Economic Institute in Sarajevo, Vogosca is ranked first industrial zone in BiH and the second-ranked municipality (in the region) to support small and medium enterprises. When discussing correlated with the environment, in terms of the information, the Municipality of Vogosca has a website (www. vogosca.ba), where one can find information about Vogosca and local media company RTV Vogosca.
