As members of the family of God, we have all been called to serve oth-ers. There is no way round it; if you are a Christian, you are a servant! The way we treat others and value them above ourselves stands in stark contrast to the selfishness in society, and shouts loudly to the world of the sacrificial and passionate love of God. But we must first demonstrate love within the church, in order for it to overflow into the world. As Christians we all have God dwelling within us in the person of the Holy Spirit. And the Bible tells us in Romans 5:5 that '...God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us'. We have not only experienced the love of God but have been filled with it! God never gives us anything which we are to keep to ourselves - we have been filled with love so that we can overflow with love into the lives of the people all around us everyday. It is an honour to serve, a privilege to meet people's needs. We have been given to each other as gifts, in order that everyone in the church has what they need to grow into fruitful sons and daughters of God. Everyone in New Life Church has been called by God to serve in differ-ent ways to further the kingdom. We can only serve others in their call-ing when we know what their calling is. Be proactive in meeting people's needs by finding out how they are serving God at the moment. Jesus is our first and foremost example in being a servant. We remem-ber His death as the ultimate act of service to the world, but in reality He served the people around him constantly during his life. He, who right-fully deserved to be worshipped and served by the entire human race, was the first to lay down those rights and take up a servant's role. The Son of God gave Himself unreservedly, in order that He could bring many more sons into His Father's family. Let's give ourselves to each other in love, just as Jesus did for us, so that we might see every-one fully mature and become a fruitful, a glorious church.
