During the start of the session, ask the children to mentally note one ‘souvenir’ to mention at the end of the session that symbolises a significant part of their session. It could be an object, moment or feeling. At the end of the session, allow the children to share their ‘outdoor souvenirs.’ E.g. A feather to symbolise the excitement of spotting and identifying a bird species; a brightly coloured flower to symbolise positive emotions; the feeling they got when they managed to climb the climbing tree; the taste of hot chocolate warming their tummies, etc. Souvenirs Curriculum Links EYFS PSED:Confident to try new activities and say why they like some activities more than others; Confident to speak in a group and talk about their ideas; Talks about how they and others show feelings. National Curriculum PSHEE: (KS1&2) Develop self-confidence and self-esteem, and make informed choices regarding personal and social issues; Know that their actions affect themselves and others; Care about other people’s feelings and try to see things from their point of view; Recognise and challenge stereotypes; Talk and write about their opinions, and explain their views, on issues that affect themselves and society; Know that differences and similarities between people arise from a number of factors, including cultural, ethnic, racial and religious diversity, gender and disability; Recognise their worth as individuals by identifying positive things about themselves and their achievements, seeing their mistakes, making amends and setting personal goals. Literacy: (KS1 S&L) Articulate and justify answers, arguments and opinions. (KS2 S&L) Give well-structured descriptions, explanations and narratives for different purposes, including for expressing feelings.
