Event co-ordinator Helen Murray says the outcome was extremely pleasing. Fr Peter opened the event, reminding the crowd of the parable of the loaves and fishes with its powerful lesson about sharing and relationship formation. More than 300 people are estimated to have attended. The event centred on fellowship, friendship and family fun with the level of participation spanning all age groups. Many people commented favourably on the wide range of activities and enterprises undertaken in the parish, some of which were not previously known to them. New volunteers were enlisted for numerous groups and ministries. As a result of generous donations, 5 gourmet hampers and 10 other prizes were raffled on the day and 3 door prizes awarded. The day featured a cake stall, organised by Felicity Kendall and supported by the Holy Rosary School P &F, a sausage sizzle, information desks, music entertainment, morning tea and coffee, children’s activities and a baby animal farm. One highlight was the unveiling of a series of 27 stunning photographic “mini-murals” depicting parish life all taken and produced by Richard Goodwin. Saint of the Week

St Dominic

Feast Day: 7th

August

St. Dominic, the founder of the Order of

Preachers (the Dominicans) was born at

Calaruega, Spain in 1170. He was a man

who led an austere life dedicated to God

He travelled widely, but always in

humility, without pomp or retainers, and

often even without his shoes.

He was dedicated to education, believing

that knowledge would open peoples' eyes

to the truth about the Lord. He died in

1221 and was canonised in 1234.

St Dominic is the patron saint of scientists,

astronomers and astronomy, all of which

reflect his love of learning and spreading

knowledge.[read more - www.catholic.org/saints] ____________________________________________________________
