Sacred Heart School of Nursing Spokane, Washington
This booklet is a memento of Sacred Heart's Centenary Year. It is dedicated to the graduates, faculty and Sisters of Sacred Heart School of Nursing. The School of Nursing was an integral part of the hospital for 75 years. We can reflect on the past with joy and gratitude for the careers and friendships which began and were nourished there. We have a heritage of which to be proud and a challenge to help keep that heritage alive through a strong, committed Sacred Heart School of Nursing Alumni Association.
Betty J. Harrington Director, School of Nursing 1961-1973
If anyone should ask me to give a reason
Why I loved my friend There could be only one answer:
"Because she was she,Because I was I."
This quote from the yearbook of the class of 1972 personifies the two most important things I feel we all obtained from our schooling; a caring profession and enduring friendships.
Barby Intlekofer Casey '67 PresidentAlumni Association
SCHOOL PLEDGE
As a loyal daughter of the Sacred Heart School of Nursing I pledge myself to hold high her traditions And to be ever faithful to her ideals of service —For God and humanity,Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,I place my trust in Thee. (3 times)
SCHOOL SONG
Here's to the Spirit of dear Sacred Heart Standing for service forever;Your aims and ideals we'll never let part But keep to with earnest endeavor; Here's to the glory of duties well done Answering humanity's call Leaving no task till the goal be won In sympathy caring for all
Chorus:Sacred Heart School of Nursing Sacred Heart School of Nursing True to your teaching we'll always be
Sacred Heart School of Nursing Sacred Heart School of Nursing In service to God and to humanity
Often it seems that our effort must fail The way appears long and dark When lo your kind spirit lifts the veil On the wings of hope we embark; And once again we forge on anew Cheered by your friendly aid Proving we're true forever to you With love that never will fade.
