    That defining moment in my life happened in 2006. A few months before, I declared

    a personal bankruptcy. I had quit my well paying and high stress bartending job and

    idea of entrepreneurship and working for myself and being free, but I didn’t have

    enough clients, I wasn’t focussed and I was spending WAY more money than I made,

    trying to “fake it till you make it”.

    One night, at 3am in the middle of the night, I woke up in a jolt. My neighbours were

    drunk and fighting again. I had moved from a 1600 square foot apartment to what my

    ex- boyfriend and I jokingly called “The Bronx”, a ground level musty 300 square foot

    apartment in a bad neighborhood. All I kept saying to myself was, “How did my life

    end up like this?! How did I end up at 26 yrs old, bankrupt, financially dependent in a

    relationship going sour and living in the Bronx? How will I ever break free when I’m

    earning 300$ a week, working for someone else!?” I made a decision right then and

    there that I was going to figure out this whole success thing, this sales and marketing

    thing even if it killed me!

    At that very moment, I made a commitment to immerse myself in absolutely

    everything that had to do with success. I got into the law of attraction, and attracted a

    job making $900 a day selling mops in Hawaii!


  • Talk about a turn around! I made my intentions to become the best sales person in the

    company – drove all over Gods creation and wrote a book about my success called

    Speak on a Telesummit

    A much easier way to gain visibility and attract more clients is to be invited as a guestto speak on a telesummit. There are so many telesummit’s going on it’s just a matterof connecting with the hosts and presenting yourself as expert. Telesummit hosts arealways on the look out for more speakers.

    Go to www.google.com and type in “telesummit + [your topic]” in the search field andyou’ll find telesummits on your specific niche. Contact the hosts and offer to be anexpert for their next event.

  • Do a Joint Venture

    Instead of trying to locate your ideal clients one at a time, find someone who has acommunity of your ideal clients and offer to do a joint venture, offer to deliver somegreat free content to their community with an offer.

    Like the previous model of being a guest on a telesummit ( this is one form of jointventure) the host of the summit attracts everyone together and you do a call andpromote to that community.

    It does not have to be an online joint venture either. There are many joint ventures youcan do locally.

    For example at the pharmacy yesterday in my bag they gave me a coupon for 5$ offmy next purchase if I buy from the pharmacy my summer pass to the amusementpark. The amusement park has a joint venture partnership with the pharmacy (whocaters to family’s they’re ideal target market).

    A health and wellness coach could do a joint venture with a local gym ( targetaudience people who are into losing weight and taking care of their health) and offertheir new gym members a wellness evaluation or free consultation.

    Start thinking about where your ideal clients are gathering. Who has access to them inlarge numbers? Who is already marketing to them? Where to your ideal clients hangoutonline and offline?


    Getting into the right magazine,newspaper or trade publicationcan do wonders for your career! Itcan literally skyrocket yourbusiness over night.

    The trick is getting the media topay attention to you and thatrequires some out of the box



  • One of the best ways to use press to attract more clients is to read your localnewspaper, find out who the columnists are that write stories you are interested in andcontact them about doing a story on you. Maybe you have an interesting or provocativeidea, philosophy, contradictory theory ( the media love controversy) that you couldpromote to them.

    The paper is DYING to find good newsworthy stories to fill their pages – give them agood story!

    How can you tie what you are doing into what’s going on in the news?

    Here are some fabulous FREE resources I have used myself for press syndication:





    Radio shows are always on the look out to interview interesting people. Radio likepress can catapult you and your business out to the masses in a matter of minutes.Think about what that would do for your business if you had a 10 minute interview goout to 50,000 listeners?

    All it takes is some diligence and persistence. Call up your local radio stations andfind out who’s in charge of setting up interviews. You have to be the one to come upwith a catchy idea, phrase, reason that they’d want to interview you on their show.

    Try this, grab a copy of the local paper, find the section where your business would

    likely be featured and email or call up the writer of an article you enjoy. Ask the writer

    to do a peice on you - or ask them if they have any connections with the radio. Trust

    me they do!

    Blog talk radio has become very popular in the last few years. Some shows can have asmany as 100,000 listeners or more! Interviewers are always on the lookout for newand interesting experts to have on their show.


    Go to the site and run a search on your topic you will find a flood of radio shows thathave audiences of your idea target market.

    Send Out a Letter to Your Warm List

    One of the first things everyone should do to start letting people know you are inbusiness is to send out a simple letter to your friends, family and circle of influenceand your good friends to let them know you are in business and looking to help yourtarget market solve these specific problems.

    Be sure to include the exact type of clients you work with – your ideal clients, theproblems they are facing and the benefits that working with you provides.

    Include your contact information, website, telephone number email and mail these outto your peeps. Follow up with them in a 1 or 2 weeks time to see if the received yourletter and ask them over the phone if they know anyone who might be a good matchfor you to work with.

    Create an E-book and Put in on Kindle

    Publish a kindle book or free report like this one.

    I got interested in this kindle movement when this nobody blogger posted in hernewsletter that her kindle book had been downloaded 5000 times over the course ofher first week out!

    Amazing- think about writing up a free report or inexpensive e-book and selling it onamazon.com as a kindle book or even giving it away as a lead generator.

    Creating a blog is a surefire way to let the world know what you’re all about and helpyou attract clients.

    I use www.wordpress.com but there are free version blogs that are popluar too likewww.wordpress.org, and www.blogspot.com. Free blogging platforms will make youhave a URL like www.blogspot.com/vanessasimpkins which looks unprofessional. Assoon as you can sign up for a paid version of wordpress. I recommend getting the paidversion so you can custom set your URL. See my blog forexpample www.FullPowerGrowth.com.

    A blog is a simple self publishing platform. You can post little updates on there, toarticles, content about your topic, photo’s video’s and more. The idea is to have aplace where all of your content is located so that people can either subscribe to yourRSS feed and follow your posts or sign up for your free goodie and stay tuned in formore juicy content delivered via an autoresponder.

    I suggest starting a paid blog on www.wordpress.com as soon as possible if you don’thave one yet. When you post blog’s you can them use social media outlets todistribute them and get the word out about what you do. Setting up a blog can be timeconsuming so it’s not the fastest client attraction technique but definitely a powerfultool you’ll want to have in your hand bag :)

    Document Sharing Sites

    A new and popular way to share your content is through free document sharing sites.

    Thousands of people are looking for great free content, and as they say content, isking! Simply upload your free report to any of these sites and drive traffic to youroffers, your opt in page or squeeze page to build your list. You can drive traffic from

    One of the fastest ways to get new business is to go to a networking event. There areprofessional networking groups whose sole purpose is to help you refer and generatenew business leads and connections.

    Newsletter Promotion

    If you have already a list of clients, or a tribe of followers one of the fastest ways toattract new clients is to promote a *SALE* or host a special offer of promotion in yournewsletter.

    You could even offer get acquainted calls if you are a coach or service professional.This can be a very quick method for attracting clients especially because the peopleon your list already know like a trust you if they are receiving great content from youlike a newsletter on a regular basis.

    The key here is to send regular newsletter to your tribe – not to surprise them out ofthe blue after not hearing from you in 6 months. If you have been inconsistent in

    Posters + Flyers

    Way back in the day when I was in the nutrition business I used to put up flyers onlocal bill boards in malls and pharmacies, and grocery stores. I also used to put littlemini flyers on car windows in Walmart parking lots. I even went out and did all themail boxes in nearby apartment buildings. This method works but you have to bewilling to invest some serious time to get this generating consistent leads. And thesewould be total strangers as well. Something to take into consideration.

    One thing that worked REALLY well was this **FREE WELLNESS** evaluation box Iplaced in the video stores. I was in the helping people lose weight business and Ibought somewhere these snazzy plastic boxes I think you can buy then now at anymajor office supply store like Staples or Bureau En Gros. And I would print out frommy computer the benefits of this wellness evaluation and the value of the service I wasoffering for free, and add these little pads on top where people could rip one off andtype in their name, email phone number . The premise was like it was a draw, that youcould WIN. But everyone won. I would ask the video store managers if they wouldallow me to place it in there store and they agreed and every week I’d go by and pickup my new leads in the box. I generated TONS of new clients that way. Try it out itworks!!


    Another thing I used to do was walk up to people in malls and offer them a wellnessevaluation valued at 150$ all they had to do was help me answer a few questions. Iasked them a survey and had them answer 5 or 6 questions and then got their nameand number and told them we’d be doing a draw for a winner this week. I’d calleveryone up and invite them over to give them their wellness evaluation.

    Everyday I would go out and not come home until I had my 10 numbers. Surveys worktoo!


  • Host a Telesummit

    This is more of a long term strategic way to attract clients but it works so well!

    A telesummit is an online event that you can create to do many things not just attractclients!

    Gather 7-10-14 of your favorite experts and offer to interview them. Each expertpromotes the event to their list of email subscribers. You are the host so you buildyour list of subscribers.

    There are many ways to profit from a telesummit.

    Your experts can promote a product at the end of their interview and you can receive aportion of the profits from that. You can sell the collection of interviews from thesummit to the list you just gathered or sell it on your website later on. You now have alarge list of followers, subscribers who know, like and trust you because they’velistened to you interview these experts and now see you as a credible expert yourself.

    Whatever you do just get out there! You have to start being visible if you want yourclients to find you! By taking action you are committing to your success! And youknow what they say, action speaks louder than words.
