Reflections . . .

The world around us is one of reflections.Light is reflected from all surfaces to makeobjects visible; it shows reality in sharp re-lief. In a similar way knowledge is reflectedfrom the lives and experiences of those ofour own and of previous times.

This past year has been an enormousmirror with bending surfaces, detectingfriends, interesting places, and reflectingthem to our mind. Here the images of theyear will remain, even as we go our separateways.

The 1965 Polaris is meant to be a re-minder of these reflections, because every-one has their own particular angle of visioninto the mirror of reality.

Government

Association

The Student Government Association (S. G. A.) atPeary has a two fold purpose, it provides a medium forteaching the principles of democracy and fair govern-ment and it provides a forum where students may re-solve their problems, voice their criticisms, and rendersuggestions.

Our S. G. A. is composed of the Executive branch;consisting of the President, the Vice-President, the Sec-

retary, the Treasurer, and the Speaker of the House;and the Legislative branch; consisting of the Senate andthe House of Representatives.

This year the S. G. A. has done such things as put a

juke box in the cafeteria, sponsored a canned food drive, and published a student telephone book.

Varsity Basketball

our basketball team came out on the short end of more than one very closegame. Finishing with an 8 win 13 loss record, the team under the direction of Mr.Frank Moore had some outstanding players. John Hutchison is being consideredfor a basketball scholarship to Rutgers, and Mal Harris has had offers from severalschools including washington and Lee. Although we didn't have a winning season,no one can deny it was an exciting one. Next year, with players from our 17-2Junior Varsity, should tell a different story.

"A good solid ball club held down by experienced Seniors," wasthe opinion of Coach Bill Williams of this year's Baseball team.Supported by some very promising Juniors in the form of John Peli-cano and Bob Badczewski, the outlook for future teams is bright.John Pelicano and Larry Mischou, both first rate pitchers, went toCuba over the Christmas Holidays playing on the U. S. team. Both ofthese boys are Juniors and will be the nucleus of next year's pitchingstaff. The Huskies are playing in a more difficult league, and theprospects of taking the championship are excellent.
