eyo. swimmers nab pair The St. Rose CYO swim team rolled to its fifth and sixth wins of the season this past week as it rolled over Notre Dame of New Hyde Park, 125-92, and then nipped St. Francis of \vantagh, 113-104. Against Notre Dame, winners in the girls' division were Leslie Sturm, 11and 12year old, 5O-yard freestyle; Maureen Ryan, 11 and 12, 50-yard backstroke; Judi Manzo, 13 and 14, 50-yard freestyle; Marcy Scileppi, 15 to 17, 5O-yard freestyle; and Cindy Werner, 15 to 17, 50-yard backstroke. Soccer Gub intramural invitation-al was held this past weekend atJohn J. Bums Park. In attendancewere. teams from' Brentwood,Valley Stream, Rockville Centre,North Shore, Cold Spring Harbor:Hicksville, Garden City, DeerPark. and Massapequa. There'were three games being playedsimultaneously on three fieldsbetween the hours of 9 a. m. and 6p.m. all day Saturday and Sun·day. .

In addition to inviting teamsfrom neighboring towns, Massa-pequa all stars from each agegroup (10, 12, and 14) played.The games were exciting andwere attended by several hlln.!iredparents. In total, fpr all games,.there were over 900 childrenparticipating in the invitational.

The games were played only byintramural players but the qllalityof play.as shown by the many tiedgames, was on. a very high level.

Massapequa entered 7 teamsand won 4 first place,. 2 secondplace, and 1 third place.

In the girls 10 and underMassapequa finished first and.second. The Chargetts grabbedtop honors on the play of Kathy'Gehringer, Cathy Graziano andSuzanne Marose. .The Strikers'took second place with greatperformances. turned in by MaryJo Murphy, Denise Vecchioneand Jeaninine-Marchiano. In theall-star game the North and Southbeat the East and West 4-0. Thecoaches of both teams wellpleased with a well played game.Michele Wiss was voted mostvaluable player. •
