    MEMORABLE TRIPS o In August the club took a Savannah River Boat Trip. The club trailered boats to

    Allendale. The trip began there and ended in Savannah Lots of twists and turns, plenty of birds and gators, not much else Always the life of the party, W.W. Wolf broke his foot while riding a bicycle nude in

    the hotel hallway, that’s right nude o The club spent Labor Day at Ladies’ Island where someone fell off their jet ski and had a

    fat lip—bruised and battered and knots on her head. Someone else got mad at his camera and threw it across the lake. Names left out to protect the guilty

    CIVIC ACTIVITY o The club held its 9th Annual Christmas Parade of Boats o 6th Annual Poker Run o The club participated in the Beach/River Sweep in September

    o First all-female officer corps o At the 1998 Poker Run, there was a knifing incident

    W.W. Wolf was at it again, the oldest member of the club, actually broke up the fight

    ENTERTAINMENT o Great Halloween party this year. The theme was a murder mystery/costume party. The

    Goat Island Restaurant was transformed into the O.K. Corral o Fun Valentine’s Party held at LT’s. Pictures have circulated of two of the boat club’s

    o In June, the club made a boat trip Up the River o July Holden Beach, NC o September trip to Lake Jocassee was canceled due a hurricane

    CIVIC ACTIVITY o 7th Annual Poker Run had 242 participants

    o William Luper asked for email addresses to be added to the roster. It was quickly determined that “Pint Jar” Cozart, the fill in for “Quart Jar” Cozart, was having enough trouble and could not handle a problem of this magnitude

    o 1999 was the 20th anniversary of the Striped Bass Festival o Secretary, Dale Cozart, was recognized for his outstanding efforts by President Debbie

    CIVIC ACTIVITY o 8th Annual Poker Run o The club cancelled its Annual Christmas Parade of Boats in October due to extremely

    low water levels o The club held an annual CPR class o In September, the club donated $550 to DNR to purchase a GPS

    MEMBER REFLECTIONS o The club purchased a storage shed that was located near Lakeside Market o At the September meeting, Winston Hodge gave a special thanks to Alfred for moving

    the “stuff” to the new storage shed

    MEMORABLE TRIPS o The club decided to finish it’s long trip to NC, by taking a boat by trailer to Southport,

    NC and going by water the remaining 225 miles to Nag’s Head One boat, 4 couples. Carl said he learned a lot on this trip to include “sound” and

    “ocean” mean the same thing. Not sure if that’s good or bad

    CIVIC ACTIVITY o For the third consecutive year, the club cancelled its Annual Christmas Parade of Boats

    due to low water levels in the lakes o 10th Annual Poker Run o In May, the GIBC bought six pairs of binoculars for DNR at a cost of $100 each

    MEMBER REFLECTIONS o In March, Bill and Tina Rumbilus were inducted into the GIBC as Honorary Members.

    Bill was our first President and a founding father of the club o In November Shirley Huff was voted into the GIBC

    2003

    MEMORABLE TRIPS o The club took a boat trip to Beaufort, SC. July 27th

    Alfred’s and John Mathis’ boats were left stranded high and dry when the gang stopped for a potty break on a sand bar and the tide receded

    Lots of alcohol and hours later, the boats refloated and the trip resumed o Canal State Park March 15th for Oyster Roast “Shucking in the Park”

  • o Spring Camping May 23rd – 31st o June 21st picnic on the lower lake o July 12th Jet Ski trip around the lake o In October, Ron McCollister lead an eight hour boat trip through Sparkleberry Swamp o Fall camping trip on Ladies Island October 17th – 26th

    CIVIC ACTIVITY o The club was finally able to have its 11th Annual Christmas Parade of Boats

    Nate Fowler, Corrille, The spirit of Christmas Shirley Huff & Debra Gleaton o 11th Annual Poker Run o GIBC donated $500 to the Animal Shelter of Clarendon County o Beach Sweep/River Sweep September 20th o GIBC purchased four waterproof radios for DNR at $525 per radio. Tim Baxley

    accepted on behalf of DNR o GIBC sponsored a hunter education class on June 14th

    MEMBER REFLECTIONS o GIBC attempted to move into the tech world. John Roe volunteered to set up and

    maintain a web site. We were on line in August o New members voted into the club:

    CIVIC ACTIVITY o The club held its 12th Annual Christmas Parade of Boats o 12th Annual Poker Run o Beach Sweep/River Sweep on September 18th o Ron McCollister presented Glenn Davis a hand carved paddle thanking him for the work

    he did with DNR and congratulated him on his retirement o Allen Walters was presented a hand carved paddle for the 13 years of work he has done

    for the boat club o GIBC presented the Clarendon County Animal Shelter with a donation of $1000

    MEMBER REFLECTIONS o During the January meeting Alfred discussed the dangers of the Christmas parade on the

    big water. He made a motion to drop that parade from future events. Motion was seconded and carried

    o Stacey Drawdy was the winner of the O’Shit award. Largest one ever presented by Ron McCollister

    o New members voted into the club: Jimmy and Glenna Tomlinson in January Tap and Fay Tapley in May Eddie and Debra Gleaton in July Ted and Vickie Broughton in July Joe Campbell in August Keith and Rebecca Foxworth in September Bob and J Miller in November Gene and Joan Barber in November

    $1000 was donated to 9 DNR officers $500 was donated to Tot Price’s sister $250 was donated to the National Animal Shelter

    MEMBER REFLECTIONS o Jim Taylor was voted into the club in April o The GIBC recognized Ron McCollister for his work for the club and presented him with

    a $100 gift certificate to the Bass Pro Shops o Redneck golf outing at Foxboro in May
