WMI/TSH: TEXAS SODHARVESTER-TEX/FlEX

The Texas Sod Harvester has innovations toimprove performance and cut repair costs. Uniquefeatures: the side cut-off coulter, using a 12" coul-ter blade; all welded frame; heavier duty hydraulicmotor; unique hydraulic depth control; use of steelsleeved rubber bushings in place of bearings; andelimination of conveyor rollers. Field tested andproven. Now mounted on 3930 Ford diesel tractor,55 hp. Available without tractor. Ready to mount ona Ford 3910 or 3930.

Kesmac, Inc., manufactures an attachment specif-ically for use with the Magnum 42" Bucyrus BigRoll sod harvester called a 'Tipper." The Tippertips one or two big rolls to the right or left or theharvester, out of the way, so harvesting can con-tinue undisturbed. All hardware and hydraulics areprovided to make the hookup quick and easy.Utilizing the Tipper can save time, effort andmoney. The Tipper can be purchased from eitherBucyrus or Kesmac. Marketing and sales of the unitis a cooperative effort by both companies.

MAGNUM (BECI) ATTACHMENT:THE KESMAC BIG ROll "TIPPER"

The Magnum 42" slabbing attachment attaches toany Magnum Big Roll harvester. The unit convertsfrom Big Roll to slab in 10 to 15 minutes. Slabs areharvested two at a time. This means harvestingfaster with less labor required to stack. The unit isavailable in 21" and 16" wide cuts.

MAGNUM (BECI) ATTACHMENT:THE MAGNUM 4211 SINGLE CUT

The newest addition to the Magnum systems isthe Magnum 48. As a pallet or slab harvester, itwill cut 24" wide pieces two at a time or 24" widebig rolls two at a time or one 48" wide big roll. Thedual floating heads still yield as consistent a cut asis possible. The family of Magnum systems nowincludes, 30" wide, 32" wide, 36" wide, 42" wideand now 48" wide.

The latest addition to the Magnum System is asolid, single cut 42" wide Big Roll. The primary usefor this size is athletic fields and other largeacreage installations. This solid cut can be addedto any Magnum.

The new Magnum is three harvesters in one: bigrolls (42" or two 21 "; or 32" or two 16"); pallet sizerolls; and, slabs. The Magnum 42" Big Roll sodharvester uses an unique patented method ofincorporating netting under the sod as it is har-vested. This allows for the most tender sod to bepackaged into a single roll of 40 sq. yds. or more.Lifting over weak areas and turning at the end ofthe sod field is no problem since the netting holdsthe sod in two continuous strips of 21 inches each. Two floating cutting heads give a 42" width cut.Cutting length can be varied to meet the cus-tomer's preference. Example: 103 ft. long = 40 sq.yds., 128 ft. long = 50 sq. yds.

one machine. 1) Large Rolls. A single operator canharvest large rolls of sod 24 inches wide and up to125 feet long with or without the need of coretubes at the rate of 1,500 square yards per hour. The rolls are ejected out of the way of the nextpass so a forklift operator is not needed during theharvesting operation. Also, with the BrouwerSH1560 floating cutting head and auto steer sys-tem your harvested yield per acre is greatlyenhanced increasing profits for the turf producer.2) Small Slabs. Within 5 minutes the Rollmax sodharvester can be converted to harvest slab sod inpieces 24 inches wide by the length of cut yourequire. Using the Brouwer net wrap attachmentthese slabs are rolled up into a large roll contain-ing 25 square yards of sod. No tube is necessaryto handle the rolls as the forks on a standard fork-lift can be set to pick the rolls up from underneathfor loading. At the installation site the rolls are eas-ily pushed onto their sides to unwrap the nettingfrom the roll and start laying the pieces by hand. This is an ideal method of handling sod for small-er landscape areas, garden centers and home-owners.

The Stake-it-Easy machine from Conwed Plasticsis proving to be one of the fastest, easiest ways toanchor turf reinforcement netting. Pictured herebeing used behind a roll of Sodnet<ID, its bio-degradable, 4%" wooden stakes are readilyapplied or "stapled" deep enough in the soil to holdnetting in place.

Stake-It-Easy reduces labor and saves time, andis much more efficient than "manual" staking. 125stakes are loaded in the chamber to minimizereloading time. The Stake-It-Easy is easily adjust-ed to "fit" the height of virtually any operator and itssimplicity of design helps ensure a smooth opera-tion.

TURF MOUNTAIN SOD: EZ-NET2000 NETTER

Sodwrap is for reinforcement of big rolls. It is usedwith a variety of equipment for harvesting andinstalling big rolls. It helps hold rolls togetherduring transport and installation. It is available intwo standard sizes and two different strengths.

CONWEO PLASTIC: STAKE-IT-EASY MACHINE

Fred Pittillo introduced the EZ-Net 2000 netter atthe TPI Field Day. The netting is supplied byTamanet USA, Inc.; it has a strength and flexibilitythat makes for easy use with the EZ-Net 2000.Advantages of the EZ-Net 2000 unit include: 1) Aone man operation; 2) Faster application with lesslabor costs; 3) 48" Width between the coulters-8.7acres per roll, less roll change; 4) Tacks nettingevery four feet, thus eliminating wind damage, nosticks needed; 5) Can be used on uneven ground;6) Weeds grow through netting instead of pushingit up; and, 7) Hydraulically adjustable.

BARR-NET: THE C-175 SOLOSOONET INSTAllER

7: Turf SodNetting andNetter

Barr-Net, Inc. has redesigned their C-175 SoloSod net Installer. These changes representimprovements based on input from our customersand our own experience. Early feedback has beenvery positive and we feel that these improvementsmake it the best Sodnet Installer on the market. 1)The disc applicator has been redesigned byadding 2 press wheels mounted directly behindthe disc. This arrangement pushes soil over thenetting grove made by the disc insuring grove cov-erage. 2) The disc applicator has been redesignedto allow it to swivel. This means that the groveremains true and the netting secure even whenstraight line application is not possible. 3) The discapplicators and press wheel assemblies are nowhorizontally adjustable as well as verticallyadjustable. With this adjustment, you can fully uti-lize the entire width of the netting roll eliminatingwaste. These new modifications has doubled theefficiency of the machine. Faster tractor groundspeed is possible with even better net security.

Conwed Plastics produces two nettings for turfsodproduction. Sod net is for improved turf production. It reinforces turf from critical early growth throughharvest and beyond. Some basic features ofSod net: wide roll widths to reduce applicationtime; results in thinner, lighter slabs, earlier har-vests and lower costs; and the company hasregional warehousing.

The name Germinator stems from the phrase "togerminate." The Germinator makes it possible toproduce the ideal seedbed which in turn, ensuresa fast and even germination. This results in anincrease in yield and most importantly, anincrease earnings. To ensure the soil is workedthoroughly the Germinator has 19 times per metreat a uniform tine spacing of 5 cm. In order to obtainthis precise working depth, the pulling point isplaced directly behind the first row of tines. Due tothis, the correct balance of the machine isachieved. The Germinator is equipped with twocage rollers. One in front and one behind the tinesection. The cage rollers support the machine inits working position while it is moving the soil. Thisresults in an even seedbed down to a maximumdepth of 8 cm. The rotacrat is placed behind therear cage roller in order to ensure the correct com-paction and finish is achieved.

The Edge-R-Rite is best suited for heavyedging jobs where rotary edgers have difficulty. The Circular and V-Type blades stay in contactwith the edge of the pavement, enabling the oper-ator to follow the edge, even when it is hidden byovergrown turf.

The purpose of annual maintenance is repairingplaying damage and aerating the top layer. Forthese activities it is often useful to apply dressingsoil to make the field properly level and playableagain. With this newly developed machine supply-ing and spreading dressing soil is no longer nec-essary because it recycles soil by moving it fromwithin the top layer of the field onto the field. Pitsand hollows can also be filled, as the machine cancollect and transport soil. This recycling processalso creates the ideal field conditions for sowingand reseeding, while ensuring very intense aera-tion. In addition, compacted topsoil is broken upand cultivated, aiding water drainage and grassroot development.
