Whoever loves God must also love his brother. 1 John 4:21
Welcome and Announcements
Praise and Worship
Words from Psalm 121 I lift up my eyes to the hills
where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip
he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you
the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm
he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Message
Prayer
The Lords Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.

THANKSGIVING 2012
“I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.” Psalm 9:1-2
Dear Members and Friends of the West Rand Lutheran
Community Church!
What I have noticed lately is how easily we can become
disgruntled and negative when things around us are not working
out the way we would like them to. We are living in a challenging
time. In our country we face violence, corruption, incompetence
in the work place, unsatisfactory service delivery, price inflation,
unemployment – the negative list can go on and on – on a daily
basis. When we constantly face all these things we can so easily
lose focus and be sucked up in negativity – forgetting all the
blessings that are still part of our daily life.
How can we guard ourselves from becoming negative and
unhappy? The book of Psalms gives us some good lessons. Giving
thanks – David teaches us – helps us to see what really matters.
What actually matters in life are the small things which we so
easily overlook – the budding trees and flowers, a hand full of
soil, fresh air to breathe, the wind, the sun and the rain, family,
children – and that I am up today. I am alive and I know my
Creator and I can praise Him with my whole heart! All the other
things are not unimportant, but what really matters is to know
GOD and to praise HIM! Praising GOD and thanking GOD puts our
life into the right perspective. It makes us happy and THANKFUL.
God wants us to have the right perspective of life. That is why He
tells us to thank HIM daily. To remind ourselves of all GOD’s
grace and goodness in our lives we also have one special
THANKSGIVING Sunday. We will celebrate this THANKSGIVING
festival on Sunday 28 October 2012.
9
Part of giving thanks is also to share our physical blessings with
the congregation. Today’s tangible physical blessings in a city
congregation are mostly monetary in kind. Therefore we want to
encourage you to again bring a THANKS OFFERING as you count
GOD’s blessing on your life.
GOD has been good to us! The ministry here in the WRLCC has
constantly grown and we have been able to increase the
outreach. You have participated in this outreach through your
giving. This year we have managed to pay off most of our
building bonds and motor car repayments. The only amount that
is still in past and current arrears is the Senior Pastor’s Salary
and our financial participation in the greater church body to which
we as congregation belong. The current outstanding amount that
needs to be covered till the end of the year is about R300 000.
What a great joy it would be if we could cover ALL our financial
obligations this year through a thanks offering to the LORD!
Please consider your giving prayerfully in the coming weeks. May
GOD bless you in whatever HE lays on your heart to give.
Please join us for our THANKSGIVING service on Sunday 28
October. When you bring or deposit your offering in our bank
account, please mark it clearly: THANKSGIVING 2012.
May God bless you and may HE bless us in our THANKSGIVING
and make us truly THANKFUL!
Your Pastor Jochen Volker
