    ntroduction/ Course

    Description

Computer Networks is a course needed to equip students

with techniques for uilding and managing data and

computer networks. !t gi"es the opportunity for

undergraduate students to ha"e a asic understanding ofcomputer networks which seem to e the fastest growing

    technologies in our society today.

Computers are now found in almost e"ery walk of life# andalthough in most cases they do function as standalone

machines# in others it is necessary to e$change information

    with other computers.

his is the aspect that has led to detailed researchon the underlying structures# interfaces and datatransmission circuits that enale information

e$change. oday we see networks as the uildinglocks upon which we can ase today andtomorrows !C industry.

his course will therefore introduce the concepts#theory# practice# design and organisation associatedwith computer networks' it will also pro"ide afoundation for further studies in this study area.
