No One Like You Lord Mark Led by Oasis Praise

Scripture Lesson Matthew 5:21~26 Pew Bible, NT Pgs. 4~5

You have heard that it was said to those of ancient times, “You shall not murder”; and “whoever murders shall be liable to judgement.”

But I say to you that if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be liable to judgement;

and if you insult a brother or sister, you will be liable to the council; and if you say, “You fool”, you will be liable to the hell of fire.

So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift.

Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are on the way to court with him,

or your accuser may hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison.

Truly I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny. ~ Jesus Christ

Young Christian Moments At this time, children are invited to come forward for a special message.

Pastoral Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Ministry Opportunities & More

Installation of New Pastor at First Presbyterian Rev. Peggy L. Casteel will be installed as the new pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Mount Clemens officially today, February 16th, at 3:00pm. Our Rev. Mary has been asked to be a part of the processional representing the Ecumenical community. A reception will follow the ceremony.

Church Office Closed Tomorrow In observance of Presidents Day, our Church Office will be closed tomorrow, Monday, February 17th, and will re-open on Tuesday with its regular hours ( 8:30am to 12:00pm & 12:30pm to 4:00pm ).

Men’s Bible Study Tomorrow All men are welcome and invited to join the Men’s Bible Study group at 7:00pm on First & Third Mondays in our Multipurpose Room. Watch our Church Week Calendar for other up-coming dates.

“Faith & Fitness” Begins This Wednesday Three years ago I started out on a journey to Health and Wholeness in Body, Mind, and Soul. 3 John 2 says, “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” While I have lost over hundred pounds, I have more of a journey ahead of me. As I look around, I know that I am not alone. Some have weight to lose, some have weight to gain, some have weight to maintain, and others need to focus on controlling cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes. What I discovered about my journey is that I do better when I am in community with others. So, I invite you to a “Faith and Fitness” gathering in the church’s Multipurpose Room at 10:00am or 6:30pm this Wednesday, February 19th. To give us focus, I will be using The Daniel Plan, 40 Days to a Healthier Life. This will be a time of prayer, study, and encouragement. There will be no big scale in the corner, and you are welcome to do what food plan and exercise plan you want. The Daniel Plan will just be a guide to get us started. I look forward to continuing and discovering simple ways to care for our temples ( bodies ) for God rather than misuse them. If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected] or 586.515.0013. ~ Blessings, Rev. Mary

Jesus.And.Me Wednesdays The J.A.M. Crew & Kids invite everyone from four years of age thru High School age to join them each Wednesday from 4:45pm until 7:00pm. We enjoy a time of fellowship, study, service projects, games, crafts, and dinner each week. The fourth graders and older are invited to play bells with the First Ringers under the direction of Darcy West. Don’t forget: NEXT Wednesday, February 19th is “Pajama Night,” so be sure to wear your favorite pair! If you have questions, contact Kim Evans at the Church Office.

Community News

Kiwanis Michigan Winter Fest This Friday One way that I connect with the community is through a service organization called Kiwanis. Our aim at Kiwanis is to better the lives of children, one child at a time. We provide dictionaries and thesauruses to local students, provide free helmets at our Cycling Safety Clinic, scholarships for graduates, and support charities such as Wigs-4-Kids, Autism Awareness, Read to Me, Rosco! ( through Macomb Literacy Partners ), the Anton Art Center, and the Crocker House Museum just to name a few. The Michigan Winter Fest takes place at Tina’s Country House at 50828 North Avenue in Macomb County this Friday, February 20 th, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, and is the Kiwanis’ biggest fundraiser of the year... there is a wonderful evening being planned. The tickets cost $60.00 per person. Please let me know if you would like a ticket.
