DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Fundraising

1.1To be the first point of contact for enquirers.1.2To contribute to achieving financial targets for the fundraising team, and improving

fundraising performance year on year. 1.3To assist in the development and implementation of a regular giving strategy, and

support with donor development, communication and retention.1.4 To assist with Women’s Aid appeals and cultivation materials throughout the year,

including our Christmas appeal, newsletters etc.1.5 To assist with the organisation of fundraising events as required.1.6Provide tailored support to all community fundraisers, and cultivating them to

become a long-term supporter of Women’s Aid.1.7Support with the management of Women’s Aid’s online giving programmes

including Everyday Hero, Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving. 1.8To assist with sending out fundraising merchandise including supporter packs,

running vests, t-shirts etc. 1.9To support the Trusts and Foundations team with sending out small trust

applications.

1.10 Support the Trusts and Foundations team with data processing, on the Raiser’s Edge.

2. Stewardship

2.1 To assist with the implementation of the donor stewardship programme for all donors including one off, regular givers and community fundraisers.2.2 Actively work to reduce the attrition rate of donors by ensuring regular contact is maintained with all donors.

3. Information management

3.1 Take responsibility for ensuring that full records are maintained on the fundraising database The Raiser’s Edge.3.2 Collate departmental performance data for fundraising activities. 3.3 Act as first point of contact for a wide range of supporters, including some high profile, conveying a professional image at all times. 3.4 To assist with the typing, preparation and dissemination of fundraising communications and proposal resources.3.5 To assist with the administration of fundraising activities including mailings and event administration when required.3.6 To carry out a range of information gathering activities as required, including online research. 3.7 To maintain the fundraising database, the Raiser’s Edge including timely processing of donations, grants and making sure donors are thanked.

4. Financial

4.1 To ensure all donations are processed quickly, correctly, and donors are thanked in a timely manner. 4.2 To contribute to the Fundraising team’s KPI’s and update all appropriate reports/documentation. 4.3 To assist the Fundraising team, with some financial functions such as raising PO’s.4.4 Reconciling the bank statements between fundraising and Finance.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Fundraising Assistant

EXPERIENCE Essential: Experience of using a fundraising database, preferably Raiser’s Edge.

Experience of working in a fundraising role or sales/customer facing role. Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships. Experience of working within a team and individually to achieve success.

Desirable: Proven experience of writing/or assisting with successful fundraising appeals. Experience of assisting with a portfolio of fundraising events for community

fundraising. Experience of assisting with Legacy and In Memory donations. Experience of assisting with working with community fundraising groups.

SKILLS & ABILITIESEssential:

Excellent computer skills and experience using a wide range of computer packages, including Microsoft packages.

Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to liaise with people at all levels, on the telephone, face to face and in writing.

Ability to carry out thorough research to keep-up-to date with new fundraising opportunities.

Demonstrable initiative and determination. Excellent attention to detail and accurate record keeping. Ability to prioritise tasks and manage a busy workload.

Desirable Experience of maintaining and reporting against budgets and feeding into the

teams KPI’s.

KNOWLEDGE Essential: Knowledge and understanding of Feminism. Understanding of domestic abuse and the issues relating including the impacts on

women and children. Understanding of the role of Women’s Aid.

EDUCATION/TRAINING Essential: A-C GCSE grade English and Maths or equivalent Experience of using a CRM Fundraising database, preferably Raiser’s Edge.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS Essential: Able to demonstrate a commitment and sensitivity of the aims and objectives of

Women’s Aid; Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and equal opportunities; Willingness to travel and work occasional unsocial hours as required.

SUMMARY OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Terms of appointment: Confirmation of appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. This will normally be of six months (less for short term contracts). During this time an employee will be expected to establish their suitability for the post. During the probationary period employment may be terminated in writing, giving one week's notice by either party (this may be waived by mutual agreement). Only any statutory dismissal procedure will apply during the probationary period. There is no probationary period for contracts of under 3 months.

Salary: £19,538 – £21,991 Pro-rata (On an incremental scale based on WA pay scale points 20 -24) + benefits. Salary is paid in arrears through bank credit by the 25th of each month. Part time staff receive pro-rata payment based on hours worked.

Working hours: The standard working hours for this post are 15 hours per week, based in Bristol or at home; benefits include a generous bank holidays and annual leave package and contributory pension scheme.

Support and supervision: Women’s Aid has a commitment to providing regular supervision and support to staff with annual appraisals forming a key part of staff development. We have a training policy in place and encourage staff to take an active role in their career development plan. Pension: Women’s Aid is enrolled with the People’s Pension scheme. Women’s Aid normally contributes 7% of salary and the employee contributes 3% towards the group pension scheme. Eligible staff will be automatically enrolled on the scheme when they have successfully completed the 3 month interim probationary review. .

Annual Leave: Women’s Aid offers an annual leave entitlement of 25 days per year rising by one day per year until 30 days annual leave per year is reached. In addition, we offer 8 days public holidays plus 2 additional days in March and August. All leave entitlement is calculated pro-rata for part time employees.

Other leave: Employees have contractual rights to time off for reasons of sickness, maternity and other circumstances.

Period of notice: 1 month after your probationary period has been completed.

Union: You have a right to membership of a trade union. Women’s Aid recognises Unison.

Asylum and Immigration Act 1996: To comply with this Act, Women’s Aid will need to see the original of at least one document from a specified list, most commonly a British Passport.
