Before Reading - Classifying Information:Look at the pictures below. If it is something that belongs at a birthday, circle it or color it blue. If it is something that does not belong at a birthday, put an X through it or color it red.
Read the Book:As you read the book today, think about being able to retell the story. What happened at the beginning? The middle? The end?Read the book a second time, and circle words that have an “e” as the last letter.
Phonics:Some words are called CVCe words. These are consonant-vowel-consonant-e words. A word like “hop” is a CVC word, but “hope” is a CVCe word. Adding an e to the end makes the vowel make its long sound. All of these pictures are CVCe words. Sound them out and write the word.
