What is Volume?
We live in a 3 Dimensional World. The volume of a solid body is the amount of "space" it occupies.
The volume of an object can be calculated using mathematical equations or by measuring. Volume is measured in "cubic" units. However be sure to use the same units for all measurements.

Volume of Solids
The volume of a figure is the number of cubes required to fill it completely, like blocks in a box. In other words if you fill a box with cubes, rows of cubes, or layers of cubes. The number of unit cubes needed to fill the entire box is known as the volume of the box.
Volume of a Cube
A cube is a three-dimensional solid with all 3 dimensions the same length. If s is the length of one of its sides, the…
volume of the cube is = s × s × s = s3
Since It has six matching square-shaped sides. The surface area of a cube is six times the area of one of these sides. If s is the length of one of its sides, the…
Surface area of a cube = 6 x s x s = 6s2
I am a solid shape.
I have 6 square faces.
I have 8 corners.
What shape am I?
I’m a cube.
I have 12 edges.
In Summary
Volume of cube = Length x Length x Length
Surface area of a cube = 6 x s x s = 6s2
Volume of a Cuboid
A cuboid also called a rectangular prism is a three-dimensional solid with all 3 different dimensions. Therefore to work out the volume we need to know 3 measurements length, width and height. If l is the length, w is the width and h is the height, the…
Volume of the cuboid is = l × w × h
It has six 6 faces which are all rectangles. The total surface area of a cuboid is the sum of the areas of its six faces.
Surface area of a cuboid = Sum of the Areas of the 6 faces
I am a solid shape.I have 6 faces
I have 8 corners.
What shape am I?
I’m a cuboid.
I have 12 edges some are long and some are short.
In Summary
Volume of cuboid = Length x Breadth x Height
Length of cuboid = Volume Breadth x Height
Breadth of cuboid = Volume Length x Height
Height of cuboid = Volume Length x Breadth
Surface area of a cuboid = Sum of the Areas of the 6 faces
